"First class accommodation in a beautiful quiet area of France."
We spent two weeks in this beautiful gite in August 2015, the accommodation is excellent for a family, all on one level, very safe for young children. The rooms are large, airy and well equipped, the lounge is very comfortable with a good quality television and satellite / DVD player to entertain young children or for respite from the heat, the patio area with table is very comfortable at all times of the day and the pool area is great for fun with very safe roman steps. Jim and Jo are most helpful hosts, we will defiantly be making a return visit next year as it ticks all the boxes.

"Fantastic week - beautiful area, wonderful house...highly recommend"
We just returned from a wonderful week at Gites Gardes. We travelled with our three young boys ages 2, 4 and 6. Immediately upon arrival, the welcoming owners helped us set up the baby pool for our youngest son. Not only that, but Jo stayed with him while we unpacked our car and got things a bit settled. Within no time the boys were swimming and I must say that was the start of a swimming marathon! The boys went in no less than four times a day. The fact that it was heated was a huge bonus, and we didn't realize truly how wonderful this was until we went to a second house the next week without a heated pool. It really makes a difference! Even our two year old could sit on the steps and play for an extended period without getting cold. The weather was absolutely great and it was very hot, but even so, the slight extra warmth of the pool was much appreciated. The house itself is perfect for a vacation. Everything is on one floor, which makes it easy and one less thing to worry about with young kids. The rooms were very spacious and nicely decorated. The main bathroom/shower was large and we appreciated that there was another toilet and full bath in another room. The kitchen was well stocked, clean, and also spacious. We appreciated that they valued recycling and even had an extra trash can for you to use for this purpose. Perhaps one of our fav things about the house was the view. We sat outside with an amazing view of Monflanquin. Truly beautiful. It was a wonderful combination of feeling 'out in the middle of nowhere', but yet when we left the drive we were at the grocery store within five minutes and the mediaval town was not much further. Our boys loved all the small little critters around the property - lizards, frogs, beetles, etc. The swing set was an extra bonus for little ones, along with the badminton net. We had truly a wonderful week and would highly recommend this house to others. We would definitely return for a second visit.

"Perfect place to relax and enjoy the family (and the countryside)"
We visited Gardes during the third week of July in 2013. The weather was perfect; we spent considerable time sitting in the peaceful quiet of the patio/barbecue area with its lovely view of the countryside, and BBQ’d dinner most evenings. The pool was great and well-maintained. The gitte itself was quite spacious, clean and comfortable. A large grocery was a three minute drive away, in Monflanguin, a pleasant little town. One evening we enjoyed a very nice market at Preyssas, and found the Chateau Bonaguil, Latour Marliac and the Grottes de Lastournelle worthwhile visits. It was really a perfect week, and we highly recommend staying there.

We spent two lovely weeks in this charming house. The accommodation exceeded expectations based on past French rentals; we were greeted with spacious rooms, comfy beds and stacks of fluffy towels. Our arrival was delayed and the owners were thoughtful in leaving us an arrival snack with wine. Jim and Jo are the perfect hosts and discreetly onhand when you need them. They have put a lot of thought into their property and it is well stocked from the kitchen to outdoor living with everything you could think of. There is wildlife in abundance from hummingbird hawkmoths to the daily circle of red kites overhead as you lounge in the sunshine. The pool was great and a good length unlike many you find and well used by all of us. We particularly loved the outdoor walled dining area looking out over the countryside. There is plenty to do from the nearby village of Monflanquin with a great village square lined with restaurants and it's weekly markets, to exploring days out further afield. With two teenage boys we enjoyed canoeing up the river Lot, visiting chateaux, wine tasting, high wire adventure park, underground grotto by boat, feeding wild macaque monkeys, playing tennis, playing golf, eating outdoors with locals at the evening market, self guided village tour, trout fishing and enjoying a 10lb trout on the BBQ and of course the excellent French food and wine. There is something for everyone and I wouldn't hesitate from recommending this property.

I have just come back from a fabulous 9 days at this gite. I travelled with my husband and 4 year old daughter, sister and elderly mother and despite the wide age range we all had a really relaxing and enjoyable time. The gite is very spacious and comfortable and newly renovated to a high standard. There was a very well equipped kitchen and a large barbeque so self catering was a joy. It is set in a beautiful quiet spot with lovely views over the lake and countryside - really quite idyllic. My daughter particularly enjoyed the space around the gite to roam (the owners let you explore the grounds - 9 acres in all) and the surrounding countryside was beautiful. There is plenty to visit in the area such as chateaux, boat trips along the Dordogne and gardens (the owners are very helpful in recommending places and giving directions). However when the sun was out we were just as content to simply relax and enjoy the pool all day at the gite. I am planning my next visit already!
