Villa Myrthe, Mirtos, Crete (apartment)

Home description

Villa Myrthe exists out of 6 two room apartments suitable for 2-4 persons. Not a single apartment is the same but they all have a living room with sofa beds, diner table and a very complete kitchen. The sleeping room has a 2 persons bed and a lot of cupboard space, a nice marble bathroom with shower, washbasin and a toilet. Of course there is also a balcony (with village- or sea view) or terrace. There is a television with satellite, reception and there is air-conditioning (on payment). The apartments are of a special class. Because of the central location in the village it is suitable for everybody, except unfortunately for wheelchair users. The distance to shops and restaurant is about 75 meters a couple of meters more and you are at the boulevard or on the beach. To the other side there is a bus stop at about 75 meters. Because the apartments have central heating they are also suitable to stay in the wintertime. For a long stay in the (soft) winter we have special fares, mail us for more information!

The Crete region

Crete is with it’s length of 260 km and width of 16 to 60 kilometres the biggest island of Greece. Because it is located in the South, the whole year it’s got an attractive climate. The island is very many-sided. The nature is often craggy, green and mountaineous, but especillay varied. Crete is a sum of dreamery villages, quiet fishingvillages, all sort of beaches, monasteries and castles, excavations and attractives gorges. The inhabitants of this island are firstly Cretans, proud on their island and often at their traditions. Striking is the hospitality, one of the traditions, which is very important. A lot of people think about Crete of mass tourism such as in Chersonissos and Malia, you will notice that these crowdiness isn’t in Mirtos. You can enjoy the space and silence.

Mirtos / Ieraptera area

Although it's off the beaten tourist track, the little coastal hamlet of Mirtos does have one claim to fame- it's the most southerly settlement in the whole of greece. Reached by a turning off the south coast road, 16 kilometer west of Ierapetra, the village's long beach looks over the beautiful Libyan Sea. Popular by the Greeks themselves as a beachside retreat away from the crowds, Mirtos has a sleepy feel for most of the summer, and make an excellent base for exploring the south-east corner of Crete by rented car. Walkers will enjoy exploring the hill country around the fertile Mirtos river valley, one of the most beautiful on Crete. There is a small Minoan site nearby as well as an Bronze Age settlement. The small boulevard offers you a number of fine tavernas. Relaxing into the slow pace of Cretan village life with a good book, civilised company, is what holidays to Crete are all about.
Many facilities in Mirtos
It is so nice to take a stroll through the village. The music you hear is Greek or Cretan almost everywhere. You will not find hardrock or dance. Only this lovely and unpretentious atmosphere. You will also find that Mirtos has a lot to offer, in spite of the fact that it is only a village. To name its most important facilities:
- a beautiful beach with beds and a small but well equipped water sports centre, during the season
- a esplanade with plenty good restaurants, kafenions and outside cafes
- three supermarkets, two butchers, a small greengrocer offering herbs and raki, a few gift shops, a fashion shop, a jeweler and a shop selling fashionable trinkets
- two kiosks selling cigarettes, phone cards and post cards
- in the small streets several restaurants, kafenions and some bars
- a few tourist agencies rent cars and bikes and provide lots of ideas for trips
As for distances: all these facilities are quite close together.

Many companies fly to Heraklion on Crete. For your transport on Crete we have transfers or we can arrange carrental at good prices.

It is possible to enjoy yourself on the beach every day. And it is wonderful to be able to be so lazy. If you want to get to know the surroundings, however, so much is possible.

The apartments are available all year long. Days of exchange in the summerperiod (1 April – 31 October) are Friday, Sunday , although, there are exceptions.
Everything is included in the price of Villa Myrthe: electricity, water, touristtax, change of towels etc. 2 times a week, weekly change of bedsheets, final cleaning and all local taxes.

Conditions

A well-behaved dog is allowed but sorry, no cats.

After your booking we expect a pre-payment of 20% within 10 days. The rest of the rental-amount you have to pay at your arrival.
