Enquire nowThe Aquitaine / Dordogne / Lot et Garonne region
This is a popular region with its Bastide (Fortified) Towns which are steeped in history. There are beautiful views over rolling countryside. Many fantasitc tourist attractions. Local fetes, wine, food and historical festivals. Daily markets are to be found throughout the region in every town and many villages speciallising in local produce. There are also organic (Bio) markets held weekly and several of the bastide towns also have night markets which are very popular and great fun.
We are situated within easy reach of several wine regions. Some of the best wines in France can be found here and several chateaux hold wine tasting events through out the year.
The countryside is undulating and dotted with vines, soft fruit orchards, nut trees and sunflowers, The Lot and Garonne is more relaxing and cheaper than the busy Dordogne, Here we have the best of both worlds; a tranquil retreat to return to after a busy day sight seeing. There are many rivers for canoeing, prehistoric caves to investigate, many theme parks, karting, water parks..........and then return to a slice of paradise for a glass of wine and swim before dinner!
We have a wealth of information in the cottages to help you make the most of your stay in the area.
The Miramont area
We are located between Miramont de Guyenne (10mins) and Marmande (15mins). Miramont has a busy, bustling, Monday morning market which is excellent and sells an amazing array of goods, local produce including, cheeses, fruit and veg, fish, meat, wine, honey, deli, cooked chickens and roast potaoes! Ideal for a Monday lunch with a glass of local wine! There are also several restaurants, bars, cafes, banks, supermarkets with petrol stations, butchers, bakers, several hairdressers and a main post office, The local lake at Miramont with it's beach has been closed to swimmers, however, there is a quiet river beach with swimming and boating at Caslemoron, 15 minutes from the property, where there is also a Wednesday morning market, cafes, restaurants, a tea shop and a beautiful bridge spanning the River Lot. Certainly worth a visit!
Marmande is a larger town and has everything you would expect including a hospital with an A&E, cinemas, train station, with good links to Bordeaux, clothes/shoe shops, sports outlet (Decathlon) and many super and hyper markets. There are also local produce markets on Saturday. Brocante and flea markets can be found in the region.
The nearest village to Sevenne is 3 km and has a deli, boulangerie, post office, bar and haidressers. The tabac/grocer sells everything you could imagine! The shop is open 7 days a week 7am - 9pm non stop! She doesn't even close for lunch!

Have just come back from spending a glorious week at the above gite. Mark and Sandie are wonderful hosts and we had a lovely meal prepared by Sandie and served by Mark on the evening we arrived. Both Sandie and Mark were helpful and on hand to give advice with any problems or questions we had. Plenty to see and do in the surrounding towns and villages especially the night market. An ideal retreat for families or couples. 10 out of 10 |
