About the home

Following another very successful year we have been able to add even more great features to enhance what is a fabulous Villa. We now have a very impressive sweeping drive up to the Villa with a large paved parking area. A Cacti garden to the front, a herb garden to the side and further rock gardens have been added. Further parking is still available on the top road if you have more than 2 cars. In July greenery was planted all along the front of the villa by the olive trees to enhance the appearance as you approach the villa, along with more trees to the front. A pergola has now been built over the large outside dining area for a little more shade while you have breakfast or lunch looking out to sea. The villa now has its own Internet/ Wifi (work or Facebook!) and Satellite TV along with hundreds of DVD's if you or the children want to get out of the sun in the afternoon.
We have some fantastic new roof terrace furniture arriving this season, 2012. Star gazing is amazing as there is no light polution this far south - shooting stars are in abundance! and of course the roof terrace is great for sun bathing away from the pool.

Villa Lagada boasts a list of facilities rarely found in villas to rent in Crete. Our aim has been to create a villa where a large party, be it extended family or simply a group of friends, can really holiday in private surroundings with almost every whim catered for. On request a local chef will come to the villa and prepare a traditional Cretan banquet. Alternatively order traditional food prepared and delivered to your door for you to cook/heat up yourself.

This is a spacious, bright and attractively designed villa of fine quality. Impressive and appealing furnishings adorn the lounge and dining room including a leather 3 piece suite. Large screen tv with an open fire place and patio doors from the lounge, dining room and kitchen all leading to the extensive patio and pool area. There is hot and cold air conditioning units in each room

Set on the ridge overlooking the sea with the mountains all around. Tranquil yet 5 minutes drive from the shops, tavernas and the quaint harbour where you can hire boats. Let the world go by while watching the crystal clear sea under the shade of the trees on the beach at Diaskari Taverna. 5 min drive up the hill is Dragons Cave Taverna with the most stunning views of the whole of Makrigialos

Large bedroom with King size bed, bedside tables, built-in wardrobes and dressing table with hair dryer. En suite shower room with 'his and her's' sinks. Floor to ceiling window and patio doors to the whole of one side of the bedroom leading onto a balcony to two sides of the property with seating. Relax and enjoy the views of the mountain and the crystal blue sea.

Bedroom 2:
Large bedroom with King size bed, bedside tables, built-in wardrobes and dressing table with hair dryer. En-suite shower room. Patio doors leading to a large shared balcony overlooking the swimming pool with a fantastic view of the ocean. Seating and table.

Bedroom 3:
Large bedroom with Twin beds and bedside table. Built-in wardrobes and dressing table. Patio doors leading to double sided patio with breath taking views of the mountains.

Bedroom 4:
Large bedroom incorporating bunk beds and a single bed. Built-in wardrobes and dressing table. Patio doors leading to the shared balcony overlooking the swimming pool.

Located on the Ground Floor.:

The Crete region

This is a tourist spot that is hardly touched by the package holiday trade as the aim is to protect the local culture and prevent large scale development. It is unpretentious, charming and close to nature with a special 'feel'. There are only a couple of large hotels in Makrigialos. Guests at the villa have full access to all the organised water sports, gym and spa facilities at the Mikrio Poli Hotel.

Some of the best weather in Crete is in this area due to its own micro-climate. Beaches are unspoiled. Take a drive round the nearby coast. There is a seemingly never ending succession of beautiful secluded bays and coves. Drive up into the mountains to see breath taking views of deserted sandy beaches with crystal clear water

The Makrigialos / Bayview Resort area

Situated on the south east coast of Crete, Makrigialos is only 30 minutes from the local working towns of Lerapatra (south east coast) and Sitea (north west coast).

Some of the best beaches in Crete all gently lapped by crystal clear waters of the Mediterranean sea.
A mountain range runs West to East across the island which gives the fantastic climate, possibly the best in the Med.

Makrigialos produces the best olive oil and has a very high specific gravity and is treasured by restaurants worldwide. The local produce is all of the highest quality and is available in all local restaurants, particularly lamb, fish, chicken, fruit, feat cheese, vegetables, wine and the world famous olive oil.

Makrigialos is surrounded by thousands of acres of raw, majestic, Cretan countryside and mountains.

“Fantastic, Realxing, Friendly, what more can you ask for” This new villa is out of this world. Set on a hill a few minutes drive from a great family freindly town and beach it has everything a 5 star villa should. The view is fantastic the peace and quite is ideal for a relaxing holiday with friends and family and with everything you need within a few minutes drive (did not walk as was too relaxed and the little one was only 6 months old - buty you could walk if you wanted too) The owners cant do enough for you prior to you going out there and then the mangement company are the same - helpful, friendly and wishing you a great holiday. The villa has everything you need and all at a high standard - the pool is brilliant and a really good size. The drive from the airport is slightly longer than other resorts but well worth it to get away from the crowds. If you have a family the beach is great and the sea is shallow for a a good 50m so very safe. We will be back i am sure.

“Perfection” I came out to the Villa for the first time last august but simply forgot to write a review! Last year i travelled with 10 others (including my friend, my family and another family) the youngest person was around 14 and the villa had everything we needed to provide us with a comfortable, relaxing, enjoyable stay! I was younger than most of the adults (by a long way, not that they will admit it) and even i was impressed with the sheer volume of space and equipment that the villa had. Including a Wii and a play station the boys were content while all the girls soaked up the rays. The wide variety of DVDs to play on the fab telly resulted in some cosy nights in watching Bridget Jones! We were so impressed with the villa we returned back to the villa this July for two weeks, this time travelling with a completely different group of people. My family were of course still there but this time my auntie and uncle accompanied us there for the second week. The transformation was outstanding: the first week there was just four of us in the villa allowing us to sprawl out in all the space provided and basque in the complete tranquility of the silent villa, with the only noise being the gentle breeze. We used the BBQ a few times that week but mainly ventured out into the tavernas which are just a 5 minute drive away, i must recommend the fish restaurant at the end of the main street ( i cant quite remember the name of it. But if you get to Gustos [another fab place to eat] or coukos bar- just keep walking), it has shells on hanging down and the guy is a small chubby man called Mimis. He is a great host who will sit and talk to you for hours over several rakis! The second week could not have been more different! With cousins aged 8 and 3 the atmosphere was less tranquil and more fun. I had several portions of "soup" served to me (water in a frisbee) and was cooled down numerous times a day, as the 8 year old drizzled cool water on me. We had many more BBQs that week as the atmosphere was perfect for it, we sat round the comfy chairs and played hundreds of games of monopoly deal [which you must play, the cards are provided in the villa] The villa is able to cope with whatever holiday you are plannning... whether it be a holiday amongst friends, family, or with little children serving soup, the villa has all that you could possibly want, and much more than you would expect from your standard villa. I am definitely planning to return for my third year running!
