About this location

The North Wales region

The Snowdonia National Park is the largest National Park in Wales and covers 823 square miles of mountain and lakes. Bala is set at the gateway to Snowdonia and here we have the largest natural lake in Wales. We also have a large Welsh speaking population and you will be sure to taste the culture here. If you wish to explore a little further into the park you will find find beaches, nature reserves, bird sanctuaries, gardens, castles, mines, museums, visitor centres, and several steam railways. Snowdonia is also great for adventure and we have a high concentration of opportunities for outdoor activities - within a few minutes you can enjoy water-sports on Llyn Tegid, White Water Rafting at the National Whitewater Centre, Fish, Cycle, Play Golf, Walk and do off road driving to name just a few. See www.VisitBala.org for further information.

Llanfor

Caban y Saer sits on the edge of the River Hafesb in the Village of Llanfor which dates back to the medieval period. There are some Bronze Age burial sites nearby and a Medieval enclosure. We are just one mile out of the market town of Bala in the Snowdonia National Park. There are footpaths nearby on which to walk into Bala or up Moel Emoel mountain just behind us. See www.VisitBala.org or www.GoBala.org for trails.
