Cottage | 1 bedrooms | sleeps 2
Far from the madding crowds, set down its own private leafy driveway nestled in 8 acres of fields and woodland. The old cottage dates back to the early Victorian age and is full of charm and character. It has an open fire, oil fired central heating, and has a warm home from home feel. The cottage has a large 5' bed, and romantic eves with skylights to gaze upon the stars. A large deep bath with shower attachment is on the ground floor, with a small toilet/wash basin upstairs. The kitchen is extremely well equipped with dishwasher, microwave, fridge and freezer and washing machine available.
There is a gravelled area in front of the cottage, with table/bench to sit an watch the pet sheep grazing in the paddock, or have your breakfast and watch the birds and wildlife.
Peace and tranquillity, situated on the edge of the picturesque villageof Langton Herring, just the place to unwind.
Walking distance to the famous Chesil beach, but only 3 miles from Weymouth and 7 miles from Dorchester.
The cottage is completely self contained with plenty of parking. Weekly rentals or short breaks in the winter, also bed and breakfast
Dogs are not allowed, but a very good kennels a short distance down the road caters for overnight pets.
Plenty of walks to take in the stunning views of Abbotsbury and surrounding areas along the coastal path. The Elm Tree public house is a short walk into the village, next door to the Norman church of St. Peter. The Fleet Lagoon famous for the Abbotsbury Swannery, and subtropical gardens is approximately 1 mile down a country bridleway.
Horse owners can bring their horses with them (price on request) and enjoy the many bridleways leading off the property.
The fresh smell of the sea, and the waves crashing on the beach (when the wind is in the right direction) add to the atmosphere of this unique little gem. You will want to come back here.
Autumn in here in the country, with the trees now changing to a lovely golden colour. It is still very mild, and my guests ask to have the central heating turned off. (that makes a change). They do however love to have a log fire. The peace is only disturbed by the noise of the pheasants and the sound of the sea pulling out from Chesil Beach. The copse is full of fallen leaves which entices the deer into the wood. These can often be seen from the cottage bedroom windows grazing with the sheep or eating my plants.
Many of my guests say how well they sleep in the peace of this cottage, and feel so refreshed when their stay is over. Regulars come back every few months just to chill out.

The Dorset region
Langton Herring is a small village on the edge of the Dorset coastline. The county of Dorset is so unspoilt because it has no motorways cutting through it, and thus retains its country atmosphere and rural beauty.
The wonderful Weymouth beach is one of the safest beaches along this stretch of the coastline, with miles of sand stretching out into the bay, which on low tide you can walk out on for some considerable distance.
The whole of Dorset is very attractive with its views of the stunning coastline, or the many beautiful villages with many country houses open to the public, and great pubs and restaurants to choose from. A wonderful location to take those winter breaks, and walk to the coast path. The stunning coastline stretches in both directions, an is one of the most popular areas of Dorset.
This village is one of the most popular places to visit, as it is conveniently placed between the seaside town of Weymouth, and the County Town of Dorchester both within easy reach. The stunning views from Portland Bill and the Portland lighthouse are only 6 miles away.
The famous Chesil beach is a gentle walk through the village and down a bridle path, with the Fleet Lagoon nestled into the hillside.
The Abbotsbury swans feed from the Fleet, and it is a wonderful spot to bird watch.
The local pub is the Elm Tree, and fresh fish is a speciality cooked to order. Well known for its good food, log fire and cosy atmosphere, within a quick walk up the cottage private driveway. (downhill on the way home) A torch is a must as there are no street lights in this village, but there is one provided in the cottage. Mid week breaks are available in the winter months - just phone the owner and she will be happy to help.

"Not as expected"

How hurtful and untrue review you have given this little chocolate box cottage. I went out of my way to accommodate the allergy problem by supplying new allergy free pillows and duvet. A seasoned log fire was already laid, ready for you to light with the firelighters and kindling. How could the wood be wet when we have no rain for months, and in any case the logs are stored in my barn. You booked the cottage for 2 persons and then turned up as 3. I was able to accommodate your boyfriend on my very comfortable bed settee in the Lounge. My professional cleaning lady cleans the house on the day of any new arrival, and I do a spot check before my guests arrive. Apart from the odd Autumn spider (which we all have this time of year) the cottage is spotless. I am a 4 star rating with the Tourist Board, and Visit Britain, which is extremely high in their ratings. I am also advised by them as to my pricing for 2 persons. May I suggest you check the Trip Advisor reviews of my cottage, or my guest book. I have never had any bad reviews, and guests come back time and time again. Perhaps a 2 bedroom apartment or hotel may be a better bet next time, and more in line with your budget. (I hope you enjoyed the free range eggs you took with you)
