About the home

Our Luxury 5* Frontline Townhouse is set against the backdrop of the beautiful La Torre Golf Resort. A choice of 3 terraces overlooking spectacular views where families and holiday makers can enjoy relaxing, sunbathing and eating Al fresco. Children are spoilt for choice with the nearby communal pools and playgrounds. The resort offers a lovely Town Centre with various activities for the whole family

The atmosphere is very Spanish and changes with the seasons, the gentle burbling noises of the birds, frogs, crickets, fishes leaping in the lake, the golf clubs striking golf balls and the banter of golfers as they make their way round the course.

The Murcia region

With over 300 sunny days a year averaging 22 degrees Celsius Murcia is one of Spain's sunniest regions. The villa is situated between the Carrascoy Mountain Range near the City of Murcia and the beaches of Costa Calida or "warm coast" on the Mediterranean Sea. You can enjoy the clear waters and clean sands on the Mar Menor or "inland sea".

This area can offer a holiday for everyone. With a choice of fantastic beaches, cultural cities and monuments, shopping, golf, water sports, cycling, tennis, markets, horse riding, eating out or eating in, exploring the local country side or just taking time to relax. It’s your holiday – you choose.

Murcia is a cosmopolitan city and one of our favourites, with its large shopping centres, markets and department stores - excellent for those who love to shop!

This city has a long history shown by its many examples of architecture and idyllic squares, streets, bridges and river walks. The Moors, Romans and Christians have all had a part to play in this city's history. It boasts some of the finest cinemas, theatres, museums, concerts, art galleries & exhibitions. Murcia is a wonderful setting to discover the many bars and restaurants hidden in idyllic squares where you can sit and pass the time of day whilst enjoying the fabulous Murcian cuisine in the centre of a real Spanish city.

The port of Cartagena is well worth a visit with its narrow winding streets housing shops, cafes and restaurants. The harbour offers a beautiful place to sit and relax in the port area in one of the many bars and restaurants, however it is well worth the more adventurous following the coast line to find those little cafes and restaurants hidden from the main tourist route.

The children really enjoy the water park (Terra Aqua Murcia) and animal park (Terra Natura Murcia) in Murscia, just 15 minutes drive away, or the beaches. The Mar Menor is very calm and 5 degrees warmer than the Mediterrranean , it is absolutly fantastic for small children and a great place to experience the Spanish way of life. If you would like to enjoy beaches with a bit more wave and excitement it is worth travelling up the coast, where the waves can be quite fierce.

Walking and mountain biking is a must for those who wish to explore the El Valle Natural Park and Carrascoy Mountains.

For those wishing to travel further afield, two of our favourite places are approximately two hours drive north to the Fonts Agua in Calossa and Guadalest. The water falls are not only beautiful but a great place to cool down and for the brave there is a diving board into one of the main pools or swim through the rocks to sit under the main flow. A definite must for those who want to experience the vibrance of the fresh water and those who want to watch. We tend to drive straight to GUADALEST which is an amazing hillside town, experience spectacular views, enjoy the cafes, shopping and sightseeing. A fantastic day out.

There is a whole heap of other exiting things to do and visit - we have made up a folder in the villa for you to refer to - remember if you want an active holiday look at it early in your holiday - if you prefer to look up the local restaurants and relax around the villa and resort then that's okay too.

The La Torre Golf Resort area

As guests of the Casa de Mendes Villas you are entitled to play golf on all the Polaris World courses. The El Valle Course is a short walk from the villa but the other courses can be accessed by car or by using the complimentary bus which picks passengers up from the Clubhouse. Other world class golf courses are available in the locality.The Resort offers:

We are approximately 50 minutes from Alicante airport and 20 minutes from San Javier airport.

We recommend www.skyscanner.com, by selecting where you wish to fly from and to you will be able to view which airlines to use and their cost. It is easy to use.

We recommend that you hire a car to maximise your experience of this region and the recommended car hire website we use is www.doyouspain.com.

If you prefer not to drive the best way to get to the resort is by private taxi which is easily arranged, please ask us if you need assistance as it is usually better financially to book in advance.

We are approx an 8 hour drive from the ports of Santander and Bilbao, this is a great way to see Spain, passing though amazing towns such as Segovia, Madrid and Toledo. These ports are serviced by Britanny Ferries and P & O Ferries

“Peace and sunshine was prescribed and this holiday delivered perfectly.” The house is well equipped and well cared for. The wi-fi was a welcome bonus! The windows took some working out, but there was all the help we needed in the information provided by the owner. There are a variety of restaurants in the vicinity serving a range of international cuisines, and at very reasonable prices. We were there late September/early October so the resort was blissfully quiet. Just what the doctor ordered!

“Ideal base for relaxing holiday” We have stayed several times at La Torre, in villas and in apartments, this was our first time in a townhouse as our children are now teenagers so having the pool in sight is no longer an issue. This particular house was a 3 minute walk from the nearest pool which was ideal. I particularly liked the open plan kitchen instead of the usual seperate kitchen, as this was more social. The house was very clean and well equipped. The free WiFi was greatly appreciated by my teenagers. I would definitely choose this property again. All communications with the owner were quick and efficient.

“Great value family holiday” We have just returned from a fabulous 12 night family holiday at Casa de Mendes, La Torre. The property has excellent facilities and is very well located overlooking the golf course, you can catch the sun from early morning until late into the evening on the terrace. The house is tastefully furnished and air conditioned which is very welcome at times as is the free wi-fi. The UK tv channels helped to keep the kids entertained when we took a break from the sun. It is only a short walk to the nearest pool which we visited many times, there are many communal pools at La Torre and all are maintained to a very high standard. There is also tennis and golf on site but we were happy to simply chill out and enjoy the sun. A hire car is advisable to get the most out of the location, we flew into Alicante which is an easy 1 hour drive away via good roads. This was our 2nd visit to La Torre and we would definately go back to Casa de Mendes for a relaxing holiday in the sun.

“Lovely house and environs, good road links” This is a small but very well presented 2 bedroom house with two floors, plus a third floor open air balcony. One bedroom on the ground floor, one on the first floor, both with two single beds. The upstairs bedroom has a basic fitted wardrobe, a very large balcony which gets the sun from dawn til late afternoon, as well as a good ensuite bathroom. The downstairs bedroom is quite small with a similar fitted wardrobe, and an adjacent slightly smaller bathroom than upstairs. The living area is a good size, and there is a large wall mounted flat screen tv and dvd player, as well as a password-free wireless router. The TV channels are mostly foreign language. There is an undercover terrace with a large table to the rear. The complex is very nice indeed - quiet and pleasant, with well maintained golf courses. There is a supermarket with surprisingly cheap goods, an Irish styled pub, and a hotel with excellent facilites for visitors. You will need a car to get to the beaches, towns and tourist attractions. Murcia city with its cathedral, and the port town of Cartagena are good day or half-day trips, and there are many beaches which are quiet, often used by the Spanish (at least in May). I would suggest the following improvements: the kitchen does need a thorough clean, e.g. the pots and pans are a bit old and greasy, and the kettle is a mess. The windows throughout could not be opened. The upstairs bedroom could do with a bit of an update - I didn't try the 14" TV in the corner but it seems a bit old fashioned and partly blocks the door to the balcony. A double (king?) bed up here would be better. These are minor issues - I would happily go back, and probably will. I would recommend this rental for a relaxing good value holiday. In answer to your issues- The TV instructions allow you access to numerous English and foreign channels. The townhouse caters for various guest types and the single beds are often switched over to a double bed if requested by holiday makers prior to their visit. The key-holders were just as upset as we were that you found the kitchen not to your satisfaction as we all take great pride in keeping the property standards high and would have welcomed the opportunity to sort these issues out immediately with you had we been contacted at the time of the holiday. There was some limescale inside the kettle and this has since been removed and the pots inspected. The instructions sent to you explained that the window locks, which are easily unlocked by hand, were for your security. We agree with your comments on the DVD/TV in the main bedroom and have since donated it to a local school. We are pleased that you would recommend this rental for a relaxing good value holiday. “A perfect location for all our holiday activities” 2011 was the 3rd. year in succession that we had stayed at this property . The reason being that we have friends in the adjoining house . This arrangement has therefore enabled 8 long established friends to enjoy much time together .We also find September a pleasant climate in southern Spain .

“Beautiful town house , lovely views over the green and the lake” This was our second visit to Casa mendes after having such a good time on La Torre in the summer last year. we have been visiting La torre now for the last 6 yrs as our family leave there and we needed a house close by for a family get together it couldnt have been any better The place is beautiful the views over the Golf course are splendid from the terrace .. a nice spot to enjoy a good glass pf Vino and the house has Wi fi which was a huge bonus to me. Mr Mendes was so professional , the transaction was swift and everything was as promised .. Thank you

“Lovely house, great location” We thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay, having returned for a second successive year. The house is in a great location to be able to get around the Murcia region to the many beaches and golf courses, and is ideally situated on La Torre with great views from the sun terraces over the golf course & lake. We look forward to returning again soon.
