FINCA BRIGADOON
About the home
This property is what everyone dreams about; south facing with sun all day, panoramic views across the olive groves and mountains. The lake and town of Iznajar is just down the road.
THE AREA.....
Iznajar is one of the most beautiful areas of southern Spain and is only a 1 hour drive north of Malaga airport and on your journey from Malaga you will pass the town of Antequera which has the most monuments and churches in Andalucia as well as a great tuesday outdoor market and this is one town that you should visit during your stay.
The town of Iznajar with its ancient castle, churches, shops, bars and restaurants. New indoor sport centre complete with full gym of which you can use during your stay and is very reasonable priced. The lake offers water sports, angling, camping and bars/restaurants on a beach area. Excellent shopping facilities in Rute, 15 minute drive which is where we do most of our own shopping and the Mercadona supermarket where you can purchase all your needs( except cloths and electricals etc ) and has a great fish and meat section . Rute being famous for its hams, chocolates and liqueurs, their museums and factories are worth a visit. Larger towns of Lucena this town also having a great outdoor market which is on Wednesday and Antequera are a 30/40 minutes drive for shopping malls, hypermarkets etc both of these towns have a Lidl and a Aldi. Antequera also has an excellent 18 hole golf course.
The city of Cordoba is 1.5 hour drive and the city offers excellent shopping and site seeing such as the roman bridge, cathedral and the jewish quarter etc.The city of Granada again travel time about the same as Cordoba with its famous Alhambra Palace and Gardens ( We advise to book tickets in advance as they only allow so many in each day). Seville is about 2 hours drive.
If you fancy a day down on the coast it takes over an hour to get to the beach that we use when we go down there called La Colina. There are some really beautiful beaches and if you want the kids to have some fun then you can take them to Aqua Park or Tivilo World which has rides, shows etc and is open from 11.00 am every day to late plus there are other attractions down there also.
Coming back to the Iznajar area it is an area of outstanding beauty and peaceful and there are plenty of things to do but people come to this area just to relax but I can give you more information when you arrive for your holiday.

The Iznajar / Los Juncares area
The name Iznajar has an Arab origin- hisn ( castle ) ashar ( happy ). The castle has only been opend to the public recently after a lengthy restoration programme as well as the beautiful church that stands next to the castle. Los juncares, Iznajar is situated at the southern tip of the La Subbetica (national park) which is in the province of Cordoba. The regions natural park and reserves, monuments, archaelogical heritage, handcrafts and customs make up an unforgettable tourist adventure. Iznajar has a number of festivals throughout the year, April is the month of Semana Santo ( easter ) and May being the month of the Romano where all the local villages surrounding Iznajar converge together on the lakeside with their decorated floats and horses then in June you have the feria ( fair ) where all the locals party for 3 days until the early hours of the morning. September is a busy month in Spain as all the towns have many fiestas, iznajar having its own fiesta which again has the locals and visiting families, friends and tourists parting for many days.
