The Scottish Highlands region
The Highlands is an inspiring region of magnificent mountains, enchanting lochs and sandy beaches. Discover wonderful wildlife, local produce, outdoor activities, fascinating history and historic attractions, all set against world-renowned landscapes such as Ben Nevis and Loch Ness.
Inverness is the thriving capital city of the Highlands with a wide variety of shops, public bars and excellent restaurants where you can enjoy some locally sourced food including Highland beef, wild venison or freshly caught scallops. If you want to escape the city, why not visit Cairngorm National Park, which is just a 30minute drive away. This, Britain's largest National Park, features ancient forests, precious wildlife as well as scope for lots of outdoor pursuits such as skiing in winter or climbing, walking and cycling in summer. And who hasn't heard of Loch Ness, Scotland's famous loch where you can try and catch a glimpse of the Loch Ness monster or visit the end of the loch to see the 18th century Caledonian Canal, both on the doorstep to Inverness.
Inverness is an ideal base within the Highlands for a holiday – spend your day playing golf at one of the many courses in and around Inverness including the famous courses at Castle Stuart and Royal Dornoch or visit the beautiful mountainous west coast and scenic fishing village of Ullapool, less than an hour's drive from Inverness. Then return to the city and complete your day with a visit to the theatre or cinema.
Travel to the pretty Black Isle, 5 miles from Inverness – a peninsula surrounded on three sides by the Cromarty Firth, the Beauly Firth and Moray Firth where you will find beaches, beautiful scenery and lots to do in the various historic villages and countryside. Browse in the local shops or take a walk and look out for the magnificent birds of prey or watch the Moray Firth Dolphins from the lighthouse point in the pretty village of Fortrose.
The Highlands has countless historical attractions with iconic castles such as Cawdor and Brodie, all within 10 miles of Inverness and of course there is Culloden Battlefield, the site of the last major battle on British soil. For some relaxation and culture in a glass why not visit one of the many Malt Whiskey Distilleries close by in Ross-shire and Speyside, all within easy reach of Inverness.
Inverness in the Highlands has all you could want for a holiday.

"Second visit and just as good as it was the first time round"
I would highly recommend this flat for a couple or someone travelling alone. I stayed here for just over a week at end Jan Beginning of feb. it was my second visit to the flat on both occasions I was here for work and needed somewhere comfortable to stay. It was perfect very comfy, warm and modern. It had everything you could possibly need. I am so impressed that Alison continues to add all the little extra touches that make this place extra special.
Huge fluffy bath towels lovely, soft bedding and a new mattress topper all make it feel very luxurious. the flat is very central with a lovely walk into the city centre along the river bank. yep no wifi but there is so much wifi available around inverness it's not a problem at all.. I would happily return here and highly recommend it.
It was lovely to have you to stay again and so glad you enjoyed the 'wee' extras. We are delighted you have taken the time to give us another great review.
