Les Vieux chalet is a chalet apartment built in the local style and using very old wood to blend into this 15th century village. The apartment is a stunning penthouse which is spacious and is fitted out to a high quality.

Grimentz has many accolades and has been described by Where to Ski and Snowboard 2008 as “Europe's best-kept secret” and an “undiscovered gem”. As Where to Ski and Snowboard 2008 says “get there fast before it has time to catch up with the 21st century! It has also recently been featured in the Ski and Board Magazine and many others.

This is a simply stunning large (110m2) luxury top floor duplex chalet apartment with 4 bedrooms. It is only 200 metres away from the main gondola in this charming ski resort that is now one of the top 100 ski resorts in the world

There is no smoking allowed in the chalet and in addition strictly no pets are allowed. We do take a security deposit by a debit or credit card on arrival to ensure that no damage or theft occurs

The Swiss Alps / Valais/Swiss Alps region

If you like ancient, quiet, totally unspoilt mountain villages together with a modern lift system then this is the place for you. In addition to the piste skiing the area is famous for its fabulous off piste skiing and its mountain touring. For magnificent views just off one the pistes in Grimentz there is a stunning 360 degree panoramic view of the Imperial Crown - five 4000m peaks - Weisshorn, Zinalrothorn, Obergabelhorn, Dent-Blanche and the Matterhorn. The village itself has tiny cobbled streets and in some places they are so narrow that the roofs of the chalets almost touch each other in the middle.

The skiing in Grimentz is mainly between 1340m to 3000m although the vast majority of the skiing is above 2100m thus the area is snow secure. The area has varied skiing from open pistes to forest runs and steep blacks to easy blues. There is a great snow park at 2500m in Grimentz and additionally one in Zinal. The lift system is modern with Gondolas, Cable cars, a funicular in St Luc and fast six man chairlifts.

To get to the other resorts in the area from Grimentz there are free buses - a regular bus goes from Grimentz to Zinal and a slightly more irregular service to the other resorts. If you are a competent skier there is a fantastic long black run from Zinal back to Grimentz which starts steep and then meanders through the forest until you pop out a short walk from the main gondola station in Grimentz. A new cable car link is planned to link Zinal and Grimentz for next season

The Grimentz area

There are lots of places to go in the area ranging from day trips to Zermatt and Sass Fee through to visiting thermal pools for relaxation. The village has many festivals during the year including the famous cow fighting! For children there are lots of activities within a short drive away please ask us for details

The main airport to use to get to Grimentz is Geneva airport - there are many airlines that go into Geneva including British Airways, BMI, Easyjet, Jet 2.com etc.
In addition there is now a sevice to Sion airport that is only 45 minutes away with Snowjet service from London Stanstead.

To reach Grimentz by train is one of the easiest ways of getting there, trains leave every 30 minutes and take just over 2 hours. Simply board the train at Geneva airport train station, relax and get off Sierre Siders train station.

To get to us from Zurich airport it only now takes 2 hrs and 45 minutes again the train leaves from Zurich airport train station, simply change at Visp train station and then get off at Sierre Siders.

There are then 2 ways of getting to Grimentz from Sierre/Siders, either on the local post bus direct from the station to Grimentz (or you may need to change at Vissoie) or by taxi which will only take about 25 minutes

Driving to Grimentz is easy from Geneva airport simply follow the motorway past Lausanne and keep following the motorway signs for Simplon Pass and Brig. On the way you will pass Montreux and Monthey and then Sion and finally Sierre. Come off the motorway after Sierre and which is signposted Sierre Est and the Val D'Anniviers. The follow the signs to Grimentz, overall it will take you about 2 hours.
