About the home

This beautiful, totally renovated traditional stone built cottage dating back to 1862, is in the Lot-et-Garonne area of South West France and nestles peacefully amongst delightful gardens with a large, salt-water swimming pool. There is an abundance of wild birds and river wild life, as we are only a stone’s throw from the River Lot, which runs behind the cottage. A must for any keen fisherman, as the River Lot is known for its good carp fishing. There is a bike path, one of many in this area that runs right passed the cottage, or you can walk on rambling routes and take in some of the breathtaking views.

Everything in the cottage has been well thought out and carefully considered. The fabulous fully fitted oak kitchen includes a washing machine, dishwasher oven, convection/micro oven and hob. There are two bathrooms, both with a separate shower cubical, one of which also has a bath.

Two of the bedrooms are large double rooms with wardrobes and chest of drawers, and the third bedroom has two single beds that can be made into a double bed, whichever you prefer. We also have a cot if needed.
The living area and dining area are bright and airy, comfortably furnished and include a plasma television. Double doors lead out to the courtyard and another door leads out to a lovely garden that looks over farmland and a private path down to the River Lot.

The BBQ area with table and chairs looks over to our superb salt-water swimming pool amongst delightful flowerbeds, (which as keen gardeners we take great pride in, as we both love keeping the gardens in top condition). There are lights around the swimming pool so you can enjoy long evenings on the terrace.

We also do Bed & Breakfast with a breakfast that includes homemade bread and jams and offer a 3 course evening meal with wine and coffee, all prepared by Lynda who is a qualified chef

On booking 50% of the total cost is required the remaining 50% of the total cost is necessary 5 weeks before the arrival date.

Also on the day of arrival 500euro security returnable deposit against any damage or breakages that might accure during your stay. This will be returned after you have left and we have checked the property that it is left how you found it.

At Petit Maison De Caday , we can offer breakfast and a 3 course evening meal with flowing wine and coffee prepared by Lynda who is a qualified chef with 27 years experience in hotel and restaurant cuisine.

Why don’t you have an arrival meal prepared for you so your vacation gets off to a relaxing start. We also have bed and breakfast.

The Aquitaine / Dordogne / Lot et Garonne region

The River Lot runs across the Lot-et-Garonne and is renowned for fishing. Fishing permits are required for a nominal fee and are readily available from Angling Shops or local Tourist Information Centres. The local Angling Federation publishes a booklet each year about the rivers and the rules for the catch. Permits are called 'Carte de Pêche' and come in a number of forms including: 'Carte Journalière', for one day’s fishing in 2nd Category waters and 'Carte Vacances', for 15 days consecutive day’s fishing from June 1st to September 30th. The river is also a great place to spend a day taking a boat trip, or relaxing in one of the many riverside restaurants.

Historical towns and villages in this region, Cahors, Sarlet, Domme, Rocamadour and Penne d’Agenais and châteaux such as Bonaguil and Biron are within easy driving distance.

The popular wine growing areas of Buzet, Duras, Bordeaux, St Emilion, Bergerac, Cahors and many others are open for tours and tastings.

Climate:
We are blessed with bright blue skies and long hot summers with the temperature reaching in the 30’s in the height of summer and the spring and autumn being mild making this an ideal place any time of the year.

The Fumel area

Petite Maison de Cadays is in the hamlet of St Vite, set amongst fruit farms in true rural France, but only a 5 minute drive to the village of Monsempron, which has a baker, a small supermarket, hairdressers and a couple of amiable restaurant bars. There is also a very good market on a Thursday here. In the village of Fumel, another 5 minutes away, there are two more supermarkets and a small local produce market is held here every Sunday. Bergerac airport is 45 minutes from away, Toulouse 90 minutes.
The Walibi Leisure Park is close to Agen and offers a great day out for all the family. Fun rides, shows and special events offer a dynamic contrast to many of the other activities in the region.

Parc-en-Ciel: If you like being energetic and climbing around, this one is for you! There are five rope courses in the trees, two small courses for children, and three progressively more difficult courses for adults. Harnesses and instruction are included or you can enjoy a round of mini-golf. A lovely rural location for taking a picnic.

Golf: A number of good standard courses are within 30 km and opening in July 2009, is a new 9-hole golf course only 10 km away in the most enchanting setting.

Cycling: The cycle path runs past the property. Cyclists from all over visit this region. The terrain can be as challenging as you want.

Horse Riding: approximately 10 minutes away

Painting: This is a must for any landscape artist with fields full of sunflowers or poppies and big skies all around; wherever you look is a scene ready for a painting.

Canoing/Kayaking: This is very popular on the River Lot. Also relaxing are boat trips for the less energetic.

Petite Maison de Caday is located between Quercy, Périgord, the Lot Valley and the Dordogne. Nearby are Fumel, Montcabrier, St Martin le Redon and the famous bastide towns of Monflanquin, Monpazier, Villereal and Villefranche du Perigord. In the summer months, you can enjoy the evening markets in most of the surrounding villages and towns where you can sample a choice of dishes and wine at tables in the square, while being entertained by live bands.

“Surprise Engagement” Just completed a lovely holiday with Lynda and Trevor who were very friendly and hospitable on our arrival which continued through our holiday. The accommodation was just what we were looking for, spacious, modern and everything you could wish for, and in a fabulous location. We spent many hours around the fantastic pool just sampling the atmosphere. When we did venture out Lynda was very helpful in directing us to local activities and restaurants which we found very enjoyable. We would thoroughly recommend this villa to any family or couples wishing to holiday in the Fumel area. To make the holiday complete our daughter and her boyfriend announced their engagement - thank you Lynda and Trevor.

“Delightful place, both inside and out.” We like good quality accomodation and pleasant surroundings. We look for a big, well maintained pool in a beautiful garden. We enjoy somewhere peaceful but within easy reach of a supermarket,restauraunts and interesting places to visit. We love the area around the River Lot and have stayed in this part of France several times. This holiday let is just about perfect for us. We made our second visit this year and hope to return. The owners are welcoming, hospitable and there when needed but they do not intrude.
