About this location
The Aquitaine region
Situated in the heart of the Aquitaine region Seguinet is on the borders of the rivers Lot, Garonne and Dordogne. It is just off D710 (so easy to get to), yet feels totally secluded and private. This area is famous for its wine and local vinyards all offer a taste.
It is 30 miles from Bergerac airport and takes about an hour to reach Seguinet. Seguinet is two hours from Bordeaux airport and an hour and 45 min approximately from Toulouse airport. Limoges airport is about 3 hours away. Hire cars can be booked in advance. It is necessary to have a car here in order to fully enjoy what the region has to offer:
This area of France is a haven for a fantastic holiday.
Seguinet is a 10 min drive from Fumel where there are many large supermarkets, restaurants and shops. Numerous famous bastide towns and chateaux are nearby and well worth a visit. Belves, Monflanquin, Monpazier, Villefranche-du-Perigod, Issigeac and Chateau de Biron to mention just a few. The beautiful town of Sarlat is only a 45 min drive away.
The property is just off the D710 and yet feels totally secluded and private.
Our ancient region of Aquitaine is steeped in history with many churches and castles to visit. Some of these places hold re-enactments and music shows during the summer. Medieval castles are major tourist attractions at Duras, Bonaguil, Biron and Monbazillac. Romanesque churches are another feature of the region and there isa fine abbey at Cadouin, with a good restaurant, pottery and market hall next to it.
The region of the Lot et Garonne is one of the most beautiful in south west France. The River Lot flows through a stunning landscape from Cahors and Figeac in the East across to Bordeaux in the West, hillsides, valleys and stunning countryside offering one of the largest orchards in Europe with its varied fruit and wines that benefit from the mild climate.
Situated further south than the more well-known region Dordogne, the Lot offers a more peaceful setting for relaxed holidays away from the crowds, even in the summer season. The popular wine-growing areas of Bordeaux, Bergerac and Monbazillac are within easy reach where many of the vineyards are open for visits and tastings.
There are different local markets to visit every day of the week where you can buy fresh fruit, vegetables and local delicacies such as Foie gras, cured sausages and cheeses. In the summer there is also a weekly 'producers markets' and night markets at Duras, Eymet Villereal, Monflanquin, to name a few. Here you can sit outside and join the locals feasting on a variety of dishes and wines bought direct from the producers. Libos has a market every Thursday morning.
There is a strong gastronomic tradition in this area, eating out is part of the French way of life. Lunch time is the best value with three course lunch menu from around 12 euros including wine. Haute cuisine for gourmets, is also available and can be found locally, including the 1 Michelin star restaurant in Pujols (40 mins). There are a couple of great restaurants in Gavaudun. Just 10 min drive away you can sit in one of the two restaurants at the foot of the stunning Chateau de Bonaguil.

"Lovely retreat set amongst fruit trees"
We stayed at Maison Meunier for the middle week of a three week honeymoon in France. After spending the previous week in Paris it was the perfect contrast allowing us to slow the pace down a little an… More

We enjoyed the house - well appointed and in superb surroundings - good pool.
The area had plenty to see and do - small towns - walking and chateaux
The owner was very helpful, yet unobtrusive. The proximity of Maison Meunier to the main house presented no problems - the layout meant that our cottage was completely private.
We would go again
We are glad you had a fantastic holiday with us at Maison Meunier and it is great to hear that you enjoyed the local region of Lot et Garonne during your stay. We hope to welcome you back to Seguinet soon.
