About the home

Spacious and newly completed in Spring 2008, this luxury four bedroom, four bathroom villa is set on the edge of the famous, wine-producing village of Fitou. It has a private heated swimming pool and a large, elevated terrace boasting beautiful views of the inland salt water lagoons, Mediterranean sea and the Chateau de Fitou, which is illuminated at night.

The property sleeps 8 people (plus 2 babies) and its four bedrooms and four bathrooms can comfortably accommodate two families on separate floors.

The villa is light and airy and fully equipped to an exceptionally high standard. The fully fitted Schmidt kitchen with granite worktops leads onto a spacious open-plan living and dining area.

Villa Corbieres was newly completed in Spring 2008 and has been furnished with high quality fixtures and fittings. It is spacious, light and airy.

Downstairs; the open plan living room offers two leather sofas, TV with UK satellite channels and DVD, two sets of doors to terrace/pool, and dining table with eight chairs.

Fully fitted Schmidt kitchen with granite worktops, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge freezer, cooker, induction hob and microwave.

Bedroom 1, king size bed, en suite WC, bath, separate shower and hand basin. Doors to terrace.
Bedroom 2, two singles.

The villa is set within 800 sqm of landscaped gardens with a flourishing selection of Mediterranean and exotic trees, plants and flowers.

Private parking.

The private heated pool 8.5 x 4m (1.2m-1.9m deep) with Roman steps has electric security cover. It is surrounded by a large terrace with sun loungers, which benefits from all day sunshine. There is also a covered terrace with gas BBQ, table and chairs for 8, which offers welcome shade.

The property sits in a quiet residential area and is just an 8 min walk or 2 min drive into the picturesque village of Fitou with numerous wine outlets and all amenities including a choice of superb restaurants, bakery, bar and tabac and supermarket.

Our key holders are a charming English couple who live in Fitou village. They will meet you on arrival, show you around the villa and will be only too pleased to answer your questions and offer you advice on the best restaurants, places not to be missed etc. They also maintain the pool.

Further details

E500 refundable, security deposit required for protection against damage, breakages etc. This must be paid with the final payment (8 weeks before arrival) and will be refunded within 2 weeks of departure subject to satisfactory property inspection.

25% deposit required at the time of booking. Balance payable 8 weeks before arrival. All rentals are payable in Euros.

Prices are for the rental of the entire property above, per week.

Changeover day is flexible and bookings run from 4pm on arrival date to 10am on departure date and include electricity, water, linen and towels (not beach towels).

Please note electricity and heating are not included November to end April.

The Languedoc-Roussillon / Aude region

Languedoc-Roussillon is France's southernmost region bordered by Spain, Andorra and the Pyrenees Mountains and boasts one of the best sunshine rates in France. Its beautiful coastline offers miles of white, sandy beaches and picturesque fishing villages and ports to explore. Water sports including wind/kite surfing, sailing, canoeing, diving and water skiing can be found on the coast, whilst activities such as mountain biking, rock climbing, horse riding, white water rafting, hiking and golf are also available nearby.

The ski resorts of the Pyrenees mountains are just a 90 minute drive away. The local area offers an abundance of family activities and days out such as the underground caves at Ville-Franche (40mins), the little yellow train that travels up the Pyrenees mountains (40 mins), a fantastic African safari park with over 3000 animals (15 mins), hire a river boat for a relaxing trip along the beautiful Canal du Midi, as well as a whole host of adventure and water parks (20 mins).

For history lovers, the region has many abbeys and castles, including the medieval walled city at Carcassonne. Perpignan (20 min drive) is a bustling city where you can find chiq boutiques, busy pavement bars, cafés and restaurants.

The local culture is brought to life in carnivals and festivals, such as the traditional celebrations of the bull in the nearby Catalan towns and villages, the fishermen's festivals at Gruissan, Sète and Bouzigues; and traditional maritime jousting tournaments at Sète and Mèze. During July and August music festivals are held in most towns and villages.

The Fitou area

The charming village of Fitou is 22 km north of Perpignan (RyanAir airport) and 30 minutes south of Narbonne. The village itself nestles in a small valley and is world famous for its appellation controllée red wine.

The Mediterranean's long, sandy beaches and ports are just 10 min drive away (La Franqui or Leucate Plage) and numerous other beaches with many activities to choose from and explore. There is also the opportunity to stop at the famous oyster shacks.

Spain is 45 minutes away - Barcelona 2 hours. Andorran ski resorts less than 2 hours. 4 international golf courses within 1 hour.

There are numerous wine producing outlets in the village, as well as a snack bar/tabac, bakery, small grocery store, doctors surgery and choice of fantastic traditional restaurants.

Within a ten minute walk of the villa, two great restaurants both serve superb food and offer a unique French atmosphere. At the Vidal restaurant, you can indulge in an amazing seafood and cold meats buffet whilst being entertained by the Grandfather on his saxophone! Cave D'Agnes restaurant, a converted barn, serves traditionally French food.

At the top of the village sits a medieval château with amazing views from the terrace bar to the coast. It also has a museum and gift shop. Fitou has a football stadium, a hard surface football/basketball court with a small climbing wall, a table tennis table, a children's playground, a bouladrome and a tennis court. The village comes to life in July and August when you can enjoy live music in the evenings; the annual wine fete at the beginning of August and the twice yearly 'sardinade', a traditional festival where hundreds of sardines are cooked over an open fire and served with French bread and lots of red wine!

“A great villa with a lovely pool and gardens.” This is our third visit and once again I would recommend it to anyone thinking of renting a villa. We are a family of four and it is very spacious indeed, the two boys loved the garden and the pool so much that it gave us time to relax. The villa is immaculate and very big with all the appliances and essentials that you would expect from a high end property. It also has a very nice private balcony from which you can see for miles.... A short drive to the huge white sandy beaches and the old town is lovely. The supermarket down the road has enough should you not want to go too far... We arrived from perpignan airport and was easy to find. Response: Thank you so much for your lovely comments. Currently in our fourth rental year, we have been delighted to welcome back once again a few repeat guests. The area certainly offers so much and I guess the villa must be a hit too! “Great for kids and wine lovers” We had a superb 11 day stay in Fitou. Everything was as expected when we arrived - the property has everything you would expect and more when travelling with young children - in our case a 10 month old as well as 2 1/2 year old twins. The car beds were a huge hit with the twins!! The village of Fitou is also really nice - there are over 10 wines caves selling high quality local Fitou. There are also some excellent restaurants - would recommend Vidals if you are taking the kids. Outside of Fitou, Perpingan, Narbonne and Carcossone are all realistic day trip options and the resort of Leucate is also good for a more traditional seaside ambience. The villa itself made our holiday as the weather was not great during our stay. Having the extra comfort provided but this property took the edge of the grey skies for us! “Immaculate Villa, great for a relaxing holiday” We stayed in July 2011 in a goup of nine aged between 1 and 70. We were welcomed on arrival by a resident of the village who gave us a tour of the property and was extremely helpful with advice about shops, day trips and places to eat. The owners have gone to great efforts equipping the modern and spacious Villa to make the stay comfortable and relaxing. The two en-suite bedrooms are significantly larger than the other two bedrooms making the Villa ideal for four adults and four kids. Our party of six adults, two kids and one infant meant the bedrooms were at capacity however there was no real pressure on the four bathrooms or the large living areas and everyone enjoyed our stay. A car is essential for visits to the beach, markets or recommended day trips but numerous wine caves (2.2 euros a litre straight from the vat!) and several restaurants can be reached on foot.
