Set at the top of the charming "hidden village" of Cuxac-Carbardes which is stepped in history and just a short distance from the Historic city of Carcassonne. This beautiful, character village house has recently been lovingly renovated by its owner, a UK Interior Designer, as a home away from home. The house is over 200 years old so is full of rustic charm but has been thoughtfully refurbished to offer comfortable accommodation with all mod cons.

You enter the house up stone steps under a trailing wisteria, into the welcoming kitchen which has all the facilities needed to be the heart of the house. A big table in the middle of the room, a large Smeg range cooker, dishwasher, fridge freezer, washing machine and plenty of space to cook, eat and chat. The lounge, with views over the mountains, has a double height ceiling with pretty chandelier hanging from the mezzanine area above. There's plenty of comfy seating and a wood burner for any colder evenings. The house house reliable WIFI, TV and a desk top PC.

The house sleeps eight comfortably. The master suite is a real treat with king size bed, sofa area, a feature bath in the bed room plus en-suite shower room & private bridge to the garden and a log burner. There's a second double bedroom upstairs with a beautiful french bed and ensuite shower room. The further triple is down stairs and is great as a family room, with a double bed and children's bed plus its own bathroom with shower over bath. There is a further single bed on the mezzanine above the living room. A child cot can be provided plus highchair & stair gates.

The fully fenced garden is accessed both from stairs from the ground floor and a bridge from the first floor. It has a decked terrace with tables and chairs, a shingle area with sun loungers and a wild flower meadow. Theres both sunny patches and natural shade afforded by the trees in the garden.

Set at the edge of village the house is private, but its a 5 minutes stroll to, get your bread from the bakers. The village is both picturesque and well facilitated, having a 2 bar- restaurants, a school, post office, shop, bakery, pharmacy, butchers & childrens playground. It's incredibly peaceful and is often called "the hidden village" as it's just off the main rd, yet it caters for all your day to day needs. Added to that the run into Carcassonne for super market shopping etc is only 20 minutes! 

All bed linen will be provided. Towels will be provided for use in the house and also towels that can be taken out to the beach/ swimming. These will all be changed weekly, if required additional personal laundry can also be arranged.

Please NOTE:

This is a rustic property and although renovated the house is very old, there's a mezzanine above the living room and stairs to the house & garden. Whilst railings have been fitted, where necessary, the garden is fenced and gated and 2 x child gates are provided for the internal stairs, we advise you that it is your responsibility to take care of the safety of any children within the house & garden.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Clare (the owner) a message.

If Clare (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
