From the sleepy square in Campanet a small lane winds downhill until two stone pillars herald the entrance to Son Jorda, where a driveway of some 200 metres, passes almond and olive trees before arriving at the villa's covered courtyardentrance. From the courtyard, furnishedfor summer dining with elegant table and chairs, tall wooden double doors open into an imposing hallway, with mellow terracotta tiled floors and wood beamed ceilings that are replicated throughout the house. Double doors lead into a spacious open plan living room, comfortably furnished with chairs and sofas arranged around a wood burning stove,and asturdy dining table and chairs, whilst French windows open out to the front. Another door leads to a second sitting room in the restored original barn with exposed stonewalls and huge open fireplace in one corner which also opens directly onto the courtyard. The immaculate fitted kitchen includes full cooker with gas hob and electric oven, dishwasher and microwave . There's a table and chairs for informal meals, and French windows lead out to a garden patio area where breakfast can be servedaccompanied bybirdsong and mountain views. The kitchen has a walk in pantry, plus adjoining utility room with washing machine. At first floor level and reached by a graceful tiled staircase are three attractive twin bedrooms, all with sloping beamed ceilings and sharing one full bathroom and a shower room. Two of the bedrooms have Frenchdoors to a terrace that runs along the front of the property and affords fabulous views of the mountains. The third bedroom has views over wooded hillsides plus access to a further peaceful terrace to the rear, overlooking the pool. On the ground floor is a beautifully furnished double bedroom and adjacent full bathroom. Outside the 10m x 5m pool, with requisite Palm tree, has roman steps into the shallow end and generous sun terraces. Finally, beyond the pool, the land slopes upwards to a small wild area of woodland, great for younger members of the family to explore.The beaches of the Bay of Pollenca are justa little over a 20 mins drive away. Palma is easily accessed by train from nearby Inca, a drive of about 10 mins, and incidentally known not only for its fine leatherworkshops but alsofor some excellentcellar restaurants. The lovely old town of Pollenca is a20 mins drive.Tennis courts are available in Campanet and the nearestGolf course is a 20 mins drive at Pollenca. The area is wonderful for walkers and cyclists and at the end of the day there is a good choice of excellent restaurants within easy reach. Campanet itself offersa few authentic tapas bars and a cafe serving light meals as well as a baker, minimarket and delicatessen.We feel that Son Jordaisreally is quite a special place, somewhere to switch off, recharge batteries and just enjoy the magic of your surroundings.
