There are spectacular views in all directions with no nearby neighbours making this place a perfect retreat for a busy lifestyle.

The ground floor there is a spacious living room with inglenook fireplace, across the entrance hall there is a separate lounge with oil stove and tv. there is a well equipped kitchen with separate utility room and a downstairs shower room.

Up the wide 2 stage staircase there are 4 spacious bedrooms , two double one with a four poster bed , there is one twin bed bedroom and another single bedroom . There is a family bathroom and an additional WC for those busy mornings.

The farmhouse is part of a 500 acre working hill farm situated to the south of Cader Idris mountain.

The farmhouse is set within 1 acre of secure grounds with marvellous views all around.

There is a barbecue and picnic table for guests.

There is also a 1 acre fishing lake on the farm and guests are welcome to try their hand at fishing for the brown trout that can grow up to 3lbs in size.

•Gwengraig farm is set in the shadow of Cadair Idris and offers an excellent base to explore this mountain.

•Snowdonia national park is a spectacular area of mountains, beaches, forests, and lakes and attracts visitors throughout the year with its various attractions.

•The region is a haven for walkers, and watersprorts, mounain biking enthusiasts.

•There are some very good restaurants that have recently opened in the area :

•Cross Foxes bar and grill room was opened in Nov 2010 and is only 1 mile from Gwengraig farmhouse.

•Other excellent restaurants include Bwyty Mawddach (6 miles)

•Minffordd Hotel (2miles) and Tynycornel Hotel (3miles)

•Dolgellau (5 miles)there is a good selection of pubs and restaurants and takeaways Walking and Cadair Idris

Explore Mawddach Estuary.

Connecting Dolgellau and Barmouth is the beautiful Mawddach estuary, which has a 15km walking trail leading through the estuary's stunning surroundings and is excellent for bird watching, boating and fishing.

The Mawddach Trail An excellent opportunity to cycle in complete safety the route is level and easy to negotiate all the way to Barmouth.

Fishing

• The area has a wealth of fishing opportunities be it sea fishing river fishing or lakes.

• Gwengraig has its own small 1 acre fishing lake -the lake stocks brown trout up to 3lbs and guests are welcome to make use of this facility ( some conditions apply).

• Talyllyn Lake is a 10 minute drive down the road where you can catch Salmon, sea trout, brown trout in this beautiful 220 acre lake.

Mountain Biking

• As well as walking, mountain biking is extremely popular in Dolgellau.

• 4 miles north of Dolgellau is Coed y Brenin forest, which is one of the top mountain biking venues in Wales, with over 100km of tracks through the forest's river valleys and hills.

• Cycling

Golf

• The area also appeals to golf enthusiasts. 30 minutes drive from the is the Aberdovey golf course, which boasts an international championship 18 hole golf course.

• A further 40-minute drive north takes you to the Royal St David’s Golf Club, Harlech, which is a nationally and internationally renowned golf course and is the home of one of the finest traditional championship links courses in the world. It has been established for over 100 years and is steeped in history. It is set in the most beautiful and scenic part of Wales and has frequently hosted and continues to host world-class amateur and professional events.

• More local golf courses to the Gwengraig farmhouse also include Dolgellau and Machynlleth.

Water sports

• 30 minutes drive isBala town which is a great place for water sports.

• The area has won world-wide acclaim as a centre for water sports, especially canoeing and rafting.

• Many visitors like to challenge the white water on the river Tryweryn or enjoy sailing or windsurfing on Llyn Tegid.

• The town also has a range of interesting shops, inns, restaurants and a historical Town Walk.

Exploring Towns in the Area

Dolgellau Town

• Gwengraig farmhouse is located within the southern part of the Snowdonia National Park and is 5 miles from the town of Dolgellau.

• The town is a true Welsh market town with a livestock market every Friday.

• It has over 200 listed buildings, which is the highest concentration in Wales. The town has plenty of charm with its narrow streets linking together the various town squares

Harlech

A 40 minute drive along the coast takes you to Harlech, where the spectacular World Heritage Site of Harlech Castle is situated.

Tywyn

A 30 minute drive southwest takes you to the seaside town of Tywyn, which is the start of the Talyllyn Railway, which runs seven miles through lovely rural surroundings.

Machynlleth

Nine miles further south of Gwengraig farmhouse is the market town of Machynlleth which is proud to be known as the ancient capital of Wales, home to Owain Glyndwr’s rebel Welsh parliament in 1404

• The Wednesday street market attracts many people from afar with its great variety of traders and craftsmen.

• There is also an annual Carnival in July and the Owain Glyndwr festival in September.

• Nearby attractions also include the Centre for Alternative technology offering a demonstration of green technologies.

The Coast

Aberdovey

A 40 minute drive takes you to the small peaceful seaside village of Aberdovey, nestling on the north side of the Dyfi estuary.

• A popular resort for many years it has a thriving little harbour where the river Dyfi meets the blue waters of Cardigan Bay.

• Aberdovey is a haven for those wanting to spend an energetic holiday. It has watersports galore, including sailing, sailboarding, fishing, boat trips and the summer regatta.

Barmouth

• A 15 minute drive northwest is the town of Barmouth. Lying between a mountain range and the sea on the mouth of the river Mawddach.

• The harbour is beautiful and you can walk across the spectacular Barmouth Bridge spanning the river which can be an ideal activity for an evening stroll.

• The beach is large and perfect for sunbathing. It also has a large range of shops, pubs, hotels and a funfair from March to October and amusement arcades.

Corris Craft Centre and King Arthur’s Labyrinth

• Gwengraig farmhouse is a convenient 10 minute drive to the Corris Craft Centre.

• This comprises of ten individual and very different Craft workshops each housing talented Crafters producing a range of hand-crafted and unique products. Products range from traditional, rustic and contemporary.

• Visitors to the Craft Centre will see the Crafters at work and can buy directly from them.

• The centre also includes the King Arthur’s Labyrinth where visitors can take a subterranean boat ride sailing deep into the Welsh rock caverns enduring tales of King Arthur and other ancient Welsh legends

"FANTASTIC, AUTHENTIC 16TH CENTURY FARMHOUSE"

A wonderful, characterful 16th century farmhouse. Slate floors, wood burning stove in a huge inglenook. Full of rustic charm. Very peaceful, beautiful views, excellent beds. Owner is very friendly and helpful.
