Le Jasmin
About the home
Creatively restored from the old wine store, Jasmin has been transformed into a light airy dwelling. The split level terraces separated by the original wine vats make an ideal place for quiet relaxation and long lazy meals.
A comfortable lounge with armchairs, open fire place and a sofa bed lead to a traditional fitted pine kitchen. Two very pretty bedrooms both have en-suite bathrooms, the twin opens onto the upper terrace.
Jasmin shares a large private pool with the adjacent property but it has its own lawned garden.

The exterior is the real gem to this location for families. The enclosed gardens provide lots of space for children in a safe environment. Large lawned gardens and a protected pool area, swings and a badminton net enables the kids to exercise while the parent relax by the pool. The house has its own terrace and BBQ.
A great selection of bikes are available for a small rental, the valley of the Garonne is ideal for leisurely cycling with the canal towpath close by for picnics, fishing and watching the boats navigate.
The region is diverse in agriculture with many local markets to be explored, the house is surrounded by a kiwi plantation.
The river Ciron is a wonderful canoeing trip and a great day out can be spent on the Atlantic coast at Arcachon with its water park. Fresh oysters and mussels can be tasted direct from this section of coast.

The region has so much to offer the visitor, we are ideally located for visiting the many famous chateaux of Sauternes, St Emilion, Pomerol Graves and the Medoc. We have many contacts and can arrange wine tastings with the owners.
A pleasant day out can be spent canoeing on the river Ciron at Villandraut or the surf of the Atlantic coast where the sand dunes are the highest in Europe. Arcachon is the local port for fresh seafood, the oysters and mussels are not to be missed.
The whole area has a wealth of history having spent 300 years under the English rule, many Bastide towns still survive today!
Bordeaux is a city that must not be missed, over the last 10 years it has been transformed into a modern, vibrant port with its beautiful architecture and monuments now on full display.
The Bordeaux area
One of the favourite visits is to St Emilion, an historic town dating back to Roman times with its underground church from the 8th century and its labyrinth of tunnels and caves where much of the prestige wine is stored.
Its magnificent position high above the Dordogne valley with its many artisan shops and restaurants selling much of the local produce.
Mid summer there are local music festivals in the surrounding towns. A night spectacular is the Battle of Castillion where the English were finally defeated after 300 years in the 16 century. Well worth the visit it has many players who re-enact the final battle all in period costume.

We had a great holiday. The house has character and is fitted to a high standard. Plenty of room for a family of four. The grounds and gardens are generously proportioned and without a doubt the swimming pool is a large part of the attraction of this holiday property. It is a fairly large pool, with shallow and deep end and a diving board for kids. It is safely fenced off with childproof locks. The surroundings are beautiful with fruit orchards and the Canal du Midi close by. It is fairly rural and you will need a car, but it is a good base to explore this particular part of France. The owners will also rent out bikes and there is a network of cyclepaths within easy reach. Bordeaux is within an hours drive and the coast with beautiful sandy beaches approximately 90 min by car. The owners are very welcoming and are at hand if there are any problems. Highly recommended. |

This year, 2012, will be our second stay at Jasmin and our fifth stay at the property. Requiring a trip from the US you can be sure it more than fills our wants and needs. To us the peace and quiet is so important, the lovely, walkable country side is a great asset and the availability of many places of interest to visit, by auto, makes for a vacation that is as relaxing or as busy as one could want. Coming "home" to the pool is a great way to relax after a day of visiting some of the many places of interest within 100 miles. We heartily recommend Jasmin for a lovely vacation.
