This beautifully furnished sunny south west facing apartment with air conditioned bedroom and Wi-Fi is on the 4th floor (6 lifts available) of the Duquesa de España apartment building, which is just a 5 minute downhill walk to the nearest beach - Montemar. Located in a quiet residential area on the boundary between Benalmádena and Torremolinos, it is close to numerous bars and restaurants and from the 2 balconies there are good views towards Benalmádena Puerto Marina, the Mediterranean and the mountains.

The air conditioned bedroom contains a very comfortable double bed along with dressing table and adequate storage space. The lounge, which also incorporates a dinning area, has an equally comfortable, easy to open and close, large sofa bed and storage area which incorporates a TV which receives English programs and a DVD player. There is a fully equipped kitchen and the modern bathroom has a thermostatically controlled large walk-in shower, toilet and wash basin.

The swimming pool accessed through the garden area of the apartment building is one of the largest on the Costa del Sol and in addition there is shallow children's pool, however please note that the pool area is only open during the high season which in 2014 is from 15-June to 15-September.

The 2 balconies have between them 2 tables and 4 chairs along with sun blinds, and in addition to providing a vantage point to enjoy the views, as they face south west they enjoy the sun between midday until the sun sets over the mountains and are not overlooked by high rise buildings.

The closest supermarket – Lidl – is 50 meters away, there are 2 bars within 70 meters and within 400 meters the area is full of numerous bars and restaurants.

There is a wide beach Promenade which runs for about 5 miles the direction of Torremolinos and 2 miles in the direction of Benalmádena and from this there is easy access to numerous beaches, some of which may be comparatively quiet and others where in addition to rows of sun-loungers, sunshades and close by bars, restaurants and kiosks, beach massages are available, with pedalos, jet skis, para-gliding available for hire. From the nearby Marina, many boat trips are available ranging from the ferry to Fuengirola, to Dolphin watching, catamaran cruises, power boats and gentle trips along the coast line. The Marina is also home to bars, restaurants and shops - some of which are more upmarket and an impressive sea-life center.

Away from the beach there is a beautiful park in Benalmádena and in Torremolinos there is largest water park on the Costa del Sol - Aqualand - with amongst others a 'Kamikaze' ride which is reputedly the highest in Europe; lots of fun to be had here but its not cheap! There is a cable car to the top of the mountain behind the apartment, an Arabian red 'fort on the promenade, shopping on Calle San Miguel in Torremolinos and in Benalmádena Pueblo, a typical Andalucian white-washed village which is a short drive or bus journey away you can gain a sense of what it was like before we all came here to enjoy the sun. Also in the Pubelo is a Buddhist stumpa which gives in addition to a sense of being in Tibet has good views along the coast.

There are many shops in the area advertising trips to other cities and towns in Andalucía such as Seville, or Granada (for the stunningly beautiful Moorish Alhambra), you can also visit Gibraltar, but you should not overlook Malaga itself, It is great for shopping (particularly El Corte Ingles) and has a wonderful food market, Botanical Gardens and Alcazaba and can be reached from the nearby El Pinillo train station.

The Costa del Sol region

The Costa del Sol is justly renown for its sun and glorious beaches. Both Benalmádena and Torremolinos are mature resorts with only little redevelopment occurring. Both towns have good and cheap bus services. Benalmádena has 3 parts:- Benalmádena Costa where our apartment is located close to the sea, the middle section further up the hill which is called Arroyo de la Miel and the original settlement of Benalmádena Pueblo. There are numerous and diverse things to do ranging from Jet skiing to looking at old buildings (yes there are some of those, but not many) You can eat in an upmarket Michelin fish restaurant overlooking Carihuela beach and literally a few steps away have a far simpler (and infinitely cheaper) tapas based on fish. You can find a quiet bar a few blocks up from the Promenade or go to the busy and bustling Marina with its very lively night life. There is always something to do from just chilling out to strenuous activity. The price of these things can be low or high, but here drinks are quite cheap and food also does not have to be expensive. Come and enjoy!

"Good apartment, good value"

We stayed at this apartment for 10 days in February and wished we had stayed longer but it was too expensive to change our flights. The apartment was bright, clean and very nicely furnished with a co… More
