In Proméry village, near stunning Annecy, this sunny 'maison bourgeoise ancienne' is a treat all year round. In winter you're spoilt with excellent, traditional family ski resorts (La Clusaz, Le Grand Bornand) nearby and Chamonix Mont Blanc an hour away. In summer, swim in pure lake waters, hike or cycle: this is an area of outstanding natural beauty, its colours glorious in spring and autumn. Watch horses grazing and sunsets over Annecy, with panoramic alpine vistas, through huge windows in the lounge-dining room. An archway leads to the well equipped kitchen, where you'll be able to prepare delicious Savoyard specialities with the fresh local ingredients. Up the old oak staircase find stylish family bedrooms; the master with a great arched window for the views! Both have double and single beds, just ask if you need us to add a cot as well. Downstairs, there's a garden-facing double/twin, with WC opposite, ideal for older relatives and you'll find further sleeping options on double sofa beds in the lounge and on the lower ground floor.

The feel is comfortable, spacious and homely, with good beds, crisp linen, attractive rustic and hand painted furniture. Outside a winding pathway leads to a dining terrace and barbecue in a gorgeous three level garden, then up to an enchanting woodland aperitif spot, with babbling brook below. Perfect for lazing in a deckchair or hammock!

This character house extends over three floors and sleeps up to 8 people in the 3 bedrooms, with additional sleeping options on double sofa beds in the living room and tastefully renovated basement. The living/dining room is bathed in sunlight throughout the day and has captivating mountain views. It leads to a sunny front terrace and fully equipped, country style kitchen, with gas hob, oven, microwave/combination oven, dishwasher, fridge freezer and generous supply of cookware and utensils.

Upstairs there are two spacious triple bedrooms, the first with a King sized double and a single bed, three large wardrobes and stunning alpine views to wake up to. The second has a double and single bed, attractive hand-painted furniture and a pretty outlook over the garden. The family bathroom is on this floor with a corner bath, shower cubicle and separate WC. There is a further double bedroom on the ground floor, also with a garden view. It has extra long twin beds that zip and link to form a Super king (180cm) sized double, if preferred. The second WC is conveniently located opposite. Beds are of the highest UK specification, with brand new, high quality mattresses that guarantee you a supremely comfortable night's sleep.

The additional flexibility of the basement makes this house practical for two families or 3/4 couples to share, as it has masses of cupboard space, a small family/sleeping area, fully equipped laundry and a shower room.

A television is provided, with French cable TV and the main British channels (via satellite), together with a DVD player, an MP3 docking station, high speed internet access via WIFI (unlimited) and free telephone usage to French landlines and mobiles. All bedding, household linen and towels are supplied, the cost of which is included in the usage charge.

Outside, there is plenty of scope for finding your favourite sunny or shady spot in the large, secluded, leafy gardens, or on the front or back terraces. The mountain panorama from the wooded area at the top of the garden makes it a perfect spot for an evening aperitif, watching the sun set over Annecy. Garden furniture and a barbecue are provided and there is ample private parking for two cars in the stone courtyard and further public parking 100m away.

La Maison de Promery is a group and family friendly property, ideal for extended families, couples or two small families sharing. We can provide baby equipment, including a travel cot, high chair, bath and changing mat free of charge. The bedding is new, of the highest British standards and protected with anti-allergy covers. For this reason we do not accept pets or guests bringing their own linen in place of the usage charge. Out of consideration to other guests we also have a no smoking policy.

The property manager lives close to the property and will organise your check in /out and provide lots of practical tips for enjoying the area. The changeover day is Saturday, with flexibility on this possible outside of high season. Rentals are for a minimum stay of one week in high season, but at other times of the year we can offer minimum stays of three nights for 60% of the weekly fixed rental rate, plus the usage charge. Subsequent nights are then charged on a pro rata basis up to the seventh night. If you fancy a long weekend's skiing, our 3 night breaks throughout the winter from €600 are a great way to get on the piste, without the cost of a full week's ski holiday in the resorts.

The exhibition is a treat for any motor enthusiast and only 30 mins from the house, enabling you to visit both beautiful Annecy and see Geneva and the show over the weekend.

Or if you're now looking forward to getting into shape for the summer, why not plan to join the 1000 + swimmers who cross Lake Annecy mid August, or start your holiday with the Annecy Triathlon on 29th June? It's such a great way to see Lake Annecy we're offering a congratulatory bottle of champagne for all our guests that complete the triathlon. Next year we'll do the same for the Annecy Marathon to encourage you to get those running shoes on (we're already booked for this year's race).

The Rhone/French Alps region

The Haute Savoie area of the Rhone Alps region is one of exceptional beauty, delighting holidaymakers in both summer and winter. The winter snows provide some of the best skiing and winter sports opportunities in Europe.

In spring and summer the mountains and lakes offer the widest range of activities from restful beaches in stunning settings to active holidays cycling, mountaineering or taking to the air or water. Visit spectacular gorges (les Gorges du Fier), traditional alpine villages like Megève, La Clusaz and Le Grand Bornand, or the medieval castles of Annecy, Menthon and Montrottier. Hike in the nearby Semnoz or Arravis mountains or around the majestic Mont Blanc, trip over to Italy or Switzerland, enjoy the local markets, music festivals and traditions, the opportunities are endless!


There are countless ways to enjoy this area of outstanding natural beauty: on the 32km of cycle paths along the water's edge; wind surfing, sailing, water skiing, canoeing, or simply taking a dip in the crystal clear waters; paragliding or hang gliding in breathtaking scenery; climbing, hiking or gently rambling in these majestic mountains. Children will love the public or private beaches, with splash pools, slides, rides, crazy golf and more, or visiting some of the alpine farms which produce the delicious cheeses of the area. From the first snows the Annecy area becomes a perfect base for a varied winter holiday. Save on the hefty accommodation costs in the ski resorts and take advantage of the opportunity to discover different ski areas every day. Go wherever the mood takes you, or follow the best snow and weather conditions! The nearest traditional resorts of La Clusaz, Le Grand Bornand and Le Giettaz are only 33 km away and the vast ski areas of the Northern Alps, Chamonix and the Mont Blanc, Grand Massif can be reached within the hour. It's a great opportunity to try out a variety of winter sports, from downhill or nordic skiing to snow kiting or snowshoeing! For beginners the nearby Semnoz resort (20 mins from Annecy) is the most economical place to learn, enabling you to combine skiing or snowboarding lessons with other activities.

Besides its exceptional opportunities for lake and mountain pursuits, Annecy offers visitors so much more: an enchanting medieval center with arcade streets, laced with canals, bustling markets, excellent shopping and world class gourmet restaurants. At certain times of the year visitors are treated to Annecy's local traditions and festivals, such as the world renowned Lake Festival in early August, an extravaganza of music and fireworks.

"Characteful house set in beautiful surroundings."

A young family of 4 (children aged 3yrs and 16 months) stayed here during May 2014. We had a lovely and memorable time at annecy. The house is beautifully decorated and practical for young children. There are lots of things to do here, even for young children! We did the mountain railway trip at chamonix, the water park and indoor play area in Neydens, funny park at st jorizo, the nearby animal park, boat trip on the lake and visited la clusaz ski resort and the Santa grotto, andilly. All within an hours drive from this property, but I would check opening times before visiting these attractions during spring season. The only draw back to this beautiful area is that it's bussy with car traffic even at this time of the year there was a constant hum of traffic I guess I was expecting it to be more like Venice like the brochures describe it... except Venice has no cars. The owner Sue was fantastic, very efficient in responding to all of our emails and Annie the housekeeper was lovely. A very beautiful area to visit, I would highly recommend staying at this property. X

"Great holiday home for a large or extended family, overlooking Annecy."

Comfortable house in village overlooking Annecy. Lovely views of the town and mountains beyond from the main bedroom window and from the terrace below. Nice rear garden - good for barbecues and eating outside. Good sized lounge-dining space inside house. Large main bedroom where there was space for us and for our two young children to sleep. Two further double bedrooms. Also futon, if needed, in the basement that might be suitable for a teenager.

I have great memories of the week that I stayed at this lovely house. The surrounding area is very beautiful. I can't wait to return! Best places to visit - Sevrier for the beach, Semnoz for the views, chateau Menthon Bernard for the history/ views and Chamonix for a day further afield.

Really pleased that your family were comfortable and enjoyed your summer holiday in our home, village and this beautiful area. We'd love to welcome you back at any time.

Thanks for having taken the time to provide such a detailed review. We are very pleased that you felt welcome and received good service from us. We consider this to be most important, along with providing a comfortable, spacious and practical holiday home for our guests, who are in the main extended family or sporting groups. Sometimes practicality has to take precedence over design style to meet this objective, so sorry if all of our furnishings were not to your taste. The house is also our family home, so reflects our own preferences and is very much in the simple, rustic, Savoyard style. We're glad none the less that you felt our home was "lovely", despite not liking our sofa (which is indeed new, genuine leather and doubles as a sofa bed should guests need an extra sleeping option beyond 8-10).

A couple of points to clarify for the benefit of future guests. Firstly, we agree the TV was an older model (still with a great picture mind you!) so have upgraded to one of the latest HD TVs. Guests will still be able to enjoy both British satellite channels via Sky, including BBC and ITV and a wide range of French and international channels via cable TV. Secondly, we renovated this lovely old "maison bourgeoise" with the aim of preserving its traditional character, but at the same time being as eco-friendly as possible. This includes using a heat exchager, an underground rainwater recuperation system, which includes the original well in the garden and wherever we can natural cleaning products that are not harmful to the environment (including the aforementioned apple fragranced "vinègre de ménage" commonly used in France). We received full points from the tourist board (UDOTSI74) for eco-friendliness, part of their classification of our home as four star accommodation. We shall continue in our efforts to preserve the beauty of this region and of our world and hope that our future guests will choose our home in part for its green credentials.

"Lovely place, in a great location"

The house served us just great. We were 2 couples and 1 family of 4 (2+2) so the 3 bedrooms fitted our needs,
The house is charming, well accessorized with all we needed for a family summer vacation.
The location was just great, just few minutes drive from the highway and nearby to charming Annecy. The village is in central location which helped us easily travel to many destinations in the Rhone Alps.
We will consider revisiting for winter vacation in the future.

"A very good property"

We had a most enjoyable holiday in this modern, comfortable and spacious property on the edge of Annecy. The facilities were excellent and the view from the front was splendid. It is in a pleasant suburban location but open countryside is within walking distance. An ideal base for exploring the many attractions of the area.
