How to get there

If flying, the nearest airport is Geneva (37km), less than 30 minutes by car and served by frequent flights with budget airlines like "Easy Jet" from several UK airports. There are also regular scheduled flights with British Airways, Swiss Air and other major airlines. During the ski season the number of budget flights per day and airports served increases greatly. It is also worth comparing flight options with other nearby airports, Chambery (47km) 30 minutes drive and Lyon Saint Exupery (129km away) 1 hour 13mins drive. You may find cheap flights with Ryan Air to Lyon but please be aware that this flight actually goes to St Etienne (204km away), rather than to Saint Exupery, which is a two hour drive, but may still be worth the cost saving.

Most major car rental companies have desks at these airports or can be booked online. If hiring a car from Geneva airport check that the Swiss motorway tax is included in the price. It is simpler and quicker to take the Swiss toll road, but possible to avoid it if you have hired a car from the French side of the airport.

From the Swiss side take the Route de Pre-Bois and follow signs for France.Turn left onto the Route de Vernier then take the A1/E25/E62 signed France, Geneve La Praille, Perly, Saint Julien. Cross the Swiss/French border at the "Bardonnex" customs, then take the A401 leading to the A41 towards Annecy. After 18km take exit 18 Allonzier La Caille. At the roundabout, take the third exit following signs for Pringy. Stay on this road passing through the villages of Allonzier La Caille and St Martin de Bellevue, until you come to a series of bends with a castle on your right. Shortly afterwards you will see sign that you are entering Pringy. Go straight on at the traffic lights keeping the "Chef Lieu" (the town hall, post office and church) on your left and take the next right turning signed Proméry.

From the turning to Proméry:
Go straight on at the mini roundabout with crayons on it in front of a school. At the next roundabout with an ornamental water wheel, turn left and go up into Proméry village. You will see Proméry castle on your right. Turn left at the crossroads in the center of the hamlet onto the Route de Tessy. After 100m turn right into a narrow, no through road with a field on the left hand side. This is the Chemin du Marechal and number 18 is the first house.

There is also a railway and bus station in central Annecy, 12 minutes drive from the property, with connections to the airports. From Geneva airport it is possible to get a direct bus to Pringy, please check the "Frossard autocar" website for their timetable because it may be better to take the train directly from the airport into Geneva city centre (every 10 mins) then walk 5 minutes from the railway station to the main bus station, Buses to Annecy, stopping at Pringy, run more frequently throughout the day from here. If you are not planning to visit Geneva on another day, you can always leave your luggage at the railway station for a few hours whilst you visit this luxury goods mecca with its landmark water jet, one of the highest in the world.

If traveling by car, take the ferry or Eurotunnel to Calais. there are several companies offering competitive prices, including Sea France and P&O. It takes roughly 7 hours to drive from the port, depending upon traffic. In summer most of the tourist traffic is heading for the south coast, leaving the routes towards the east and south east side of the country relatively clear. Follow the A16 then A26 l'Autoroute des Anglais towards Saint Omer, Arras, Reims, Paris. After 265 km take the A4 (E50/E46/E17 towards Lyon, Reims-Sud for 35km, then rejoin the A26/E17 for 97km, still following Lyon. Take the A5/E17 towards Mulhouse, Lyon-Dijon, carry on for 93km, then take the A31 for 74km, still heading towards Lyon and Dijon. Join the A39 and continue for 140km towards Grenoble and Geneve, then join the A40 Autoroute Blanche heading for Geneve, Milan, Lyon and Grenoble. Leave the motorway at junction 17 Annecy Nord. At the roundabout turn left onto the D14, pass the local Pringy supermarket "Marche U" then turn left at the traffic lights onto the D1201 Route de Geneve, keeping "Madigan's" pub/restaurant on your left.
