Middle Ninfa Farm Bunkhouse
Cottage | 1 bedrooms | sleeps 6
Middle Ninfa farm is located in historic and beautiful landscape in south-east Wales, close to the market town of Abergavenny, famous for its food, cycling and many other festivals.
The name Ninfa means cottage of the the charcoal burners in old Welsh as the manufacture of iron was the main local industry when it was built 3 centuries ago high on the old parish road from the village of Llanfoist over the Blorenge mountain to Blaenavon.
Its 23 acres of broadleaved woodland and flower rich meadows lie within the Brecon Beacons National Park on the edge of the Blaenavon Industrial Landscape World Heritage Site and immediately below the Punchbowl lake and beech woodland owned by the Woodland Trust.
The bunkhouse accommodates 6 people in a converted barn adjacent to the main farmhouse. It is fully self-catering with gas cooker, microwave, fridge, shower and toilet. The groundfloor comprises the lounge and dining area with double divan and heating from a coal effect gas fire set in a stone fireplace. Upstairs on a mezzanine floor reached by a spiral staircase there are four single beds. A sauna is available for guests in a nearby building. Guests can also use the seating area beside a small pond and stream outside.
As well as the bunkhouse/cottage Middle Ninfa Farm is also one of the UK's leading small camp sites with 10 pitches widely spaced around the farm meadows.
Many guests come for the wonderful walking in the area and guides are available for walks and mountain biking routes direct from the farm.
Guests are welcome to wander around the farm and there are signposted farm walks: a paradise for kids.

The Powys/Brecon Beacons region
The Brecon Beacons and Usk valley are popular tourist destinations because of their scenic landscapes, wide variety of adventure activities, rich heritage features including the birth of the industrial revolution, and numerous local festivals.
Wales is renowned for its horizontal rain and mists but the south-east corner has its own, much drier microclimate more like the south west midlands. It is also milder than most other parts of Britain such that frost sensitive plants can often be overwintered without extra heat. We see many visitors during the winter, even some hardy campers.
Our website gives links to a few of the activity providers in the locality. Hang gliders and paragliders regularly float over the farm when the wind is from the east. There is caving nearby and a large cavern called the Lamb and Fox lies directly underneath the remote pub of the same name which features as a destination in our most popular walk from the farm. If it's very wet, you can go indoor bouldering in Abergavenny or enjoy an underground tour of the colliery at Big Pit in Blaenavon in the company of english speaking ex-miners with wonderful senses of humour.
As many of our regular guests will agree, it takes a long time to run out of new activities to do here.
You need to book a long time ahead if you want the bunkhouse for the Abergavenny Food Festival in September or the international cycling festival in July, but there are usually some camping spaces available. Rarely does a weekend pass even in winter without at least one festival or other event in Abergavenny or Blaenavon.
