The Torre di Talamone in the past was a Spanish watchtower against the invasions of the Saracen pirates. As the centuries have passed and the Torre has been restored, it has become a special place to spend your holidays. The location, as is for all towers on the sea, is absolutely spectacular. The tower rises above the Gulf of Talamone, the Tuscan coast and the Park of Maremma and on clear days, usual in this part of Tuscany, the view stretches for kilometers. Behind the tower lies the Maremma, rich in woods and scattered with numerous villages of Etruscan origin, the traces of which still remain today. The charm of this place is such that in the past, part of a James Bond movie was filmed here. The tower is part of a large estate that also includes another smaller structure, with which you share only the access to the sea with steps carved into the rock. At the foot of the Tower, facing the sea, there are two terraces: on one you will find the swimming pool (6x4,1.40 m deep) (30/05-24/10 open from 08:00 am to 8:00 pm) and surrounded by a wooden deck, while the other terrace, which is nicely furnished with sofas and chairs, offers a splendid view that reaches its best at sunset. This accommodation invites idleness and to finish the day you can go to the picturesque village of Talamone, which you have had in front of you all day, to enjoy the delicious Maremma cuisine or fish dishes. Wi-Fi Internet connection and 20 hours of maid service are included in the price. Services on request and to be paid for on location: extra hours of maid service, babysitter, a chef, cooking classes. PLEASE NOTE: It is possible to book the accommodation for 8 sleeping spaces under the name TORRE GARIBALDINA 8; in this case the 2 bedrooms with bathroom will be closed. ACCOMMODATION: (330 m2) Gr. fl.: small dining room with fireplace, kitchen (oven, dishwasher, microwave, small appliances, Italian stovetop espresso maker), 2 twin bedrooms (air conditioning) one with bathroom with shower and one with bathroom with bath, 1 twin bedroom (air conditioning) with bathroom with bath and shower. Mezzanine gr. fl.: 1 double room with fireplace and going up a small stairway with wardrobe and small bathroom with shower. A stairway leads to a small terrace on the tower. 1st fl.: large living/dining room with fireplace (air conditioning, DVD player, satellite TV) with cooking area, access to the panoramic terrace equipped for outdoor dining and with sofas. Outbuilding: Gr. fl.: living room, two double bedrooms both with bathroom with shower and air conditioning. All bedroom windows have mosquito screens. Cutinolo is an ensemble of two houses bordering a large lawn. Cutinolo Podere sleeps 10 people. The other house, the former stables Cutinolo Forno(also featured in our portfolio), sleeps 6 people. Furthermore there is a dependance which is let to long term tenants. Although not fenced, each accommodation has a separate entrance and outdoor sitting area. Cutinolo Podere is a generous, colourful and cheerful house. Filled with sunlight, large French windows on the ground floor rooms allow you to move freely between indoors and outside. The front of the house has a spacious pergola with table and chairs. The decoration of the house is the result of a family collaboration in choosing the colours, actually doing the paint-work, designing the kitchen and finding the right furniture at antique shops and markets. The swimming pool 7 x 15 metres is equipped with sun beds and deck chairs. The house is surrounded by vineyards and open landscape. Next to the house a road (cars can be heard from the house) leads from a hamlet in the north (where is located the Castello Maremma / also featured in our portfolio) to Capalbio, a charming Tuscan hilltop village which has become fashionable over the last 10 years. The sandy beach is at a distance of 14 km. The main hamlet of the estate is 5 km away. This is also the closest shopping area with a small supermarket, a bar, a bank and a post office. The closest village is Albinia at 10 km distance. In the vicinity there is an excellent restaurant. Many more are to be found at not more than a 15 to 20 minute drive. Daytrips to Capalbio, Tarquinia, Saturnia spas, WWF National Maremma park, islands of Giglio, Giannutri and Monte Argentario are possible from here. About the estate and the Maremma A lesser known and therefore all the more captivating part of Tuscany, the Maremma extends along the southern Tuscan coast. As it moves away from the sea, the land slowly rises, shaping hills covered in olive groves, fields and woods. Cutinolo belongs to a large private estate which consists mainly of woodland and Mediterranean 'macchia'. Since several hundred years the estate belongs to the same family. The estate was originally 8000 hectares, reduced to 3000 by state expropriation. Over 95% remains woodland, and of the remaining 150, just 18 hectares of the finest land has been transformed into vineyards by the owner, since 1995. In 1759 the owner brought agriculture to the previously malaria infested swamp that was the Maremma. Today it is the new frontier for Tuscan agriculture. Here the owner continues to forge new ground and is at the forefront of those bringing new wine making techniques to the region. The Maremma is the last stretch of unspoiled coastline in Italy. The hills of the Monti dell’ Uccellina form the core of the Parco Naturale della Maremma, an incredibly beautiful nature reserve with a breathtaking landscape of cliffs, forested hills, coastal marshes and beaches, a haven for deer, boar, wild horses and the ghostly Maremma cattle. Visit Scansano, Grosseto, Castiglione and the trendy harbor of Puntala. Birdwatchers will not want to miss the lagoons at Argentario, Orbetello, and Burano, stopovers for migrating waterfowl. Think of the Maremma for nature, bird-watching, views, hilltop villages, and wines. Geographical location: the hamlet lies close to the village of Albinia and the town of Orbetello, at the beginning of the peninsula of Argentario. The closest larger city is Grosseto. Distances: Siena is a 1 hour's drive from the estate, Rome, Florence and Pisa are 2 hours. Viterbo, former papal residence is at less than an hour's drive, and Tarquinia and Tuscania are reached in one hour. Closest shopping: in Albinia at 10 km away you will find an excellent supermarket and many specialized shops. Cutinolo is an ensemble of two houses bordering a large lawn. The converted barn Cutinolo Forno sleeps 6 people. The other larger house Cutinolo Podere(also featured in our portfolio) sleeps 10 people. Furthermore there is a dependance which is rented out to long term tenants. Although not fenced, each accommodation has a separate entrance and outdoor sitting area. The Cutinolo Forno house is spacious, filled with sunlight and has cheerful colours. Large French windows on the ground floor allow you to moove freely between indoors and outside. The house has a spacious pergola with table and chairs. The shared swimming pool 7 x 15 metres is equipped with sun beds and deck chairs. The house is surrounded by vineyards and woods beginning in the background. Next to the house a road leads from a hamlet in the north (where is located the Castello Maremma / also featured in our portfolio) to Capalbio, a charming Tuscan hilltop village which has become fashionable over the last 10 years. The sandy beach is at a distance of 14 km. The main hamlet of the estate with the above mentioned castle is 5 km away. From the distance this estate might look like a castle, but as you reach the top of the hill and drive through the gate the feeling is more that of an informal hamlet. Centre of the hamlet is a charming building dating from the 18th century, with a fountain gurgling in the front courtyard (Castello Maremma / also featured in our portfolio). The simpler buildings to the right house two families working on the estate as well as the stables, the granary, the watchtower and this is where the here offered Casa al Borgo is located. In Casa al Borgo once lived a workmen of the castle. True its origins, the style of Casa al Borgo is simple, comfortable and informal. Through the entrance and a hall on the ground floor a staircase leads up to the spacious, sunny living room on the first floor. The centre of the house is the large adjoining kitchen with dining table in front of the fireplace, it opens up onto a small terrace which gives you enough space to have your meals outside. From here you enjoy the view of the old stone houses and the ancient watchtower of the hamlet. A few steps away, across the courtyard, the pool is located in a charming part of the garden (approx. 60 m from the house). The pool is shared with the guests of Casa delle Guardie (also featured in our portfolio). Down the hill 1 km from the house you will find a bar for your daily Cappuccino, a small supermarket, a bank and post office. The nearest beach is at 14 km. The nearby seaside has made this property attractive during the summer months (from May to October). In late autumn and winter this house becomes a wonderful place for combining cultural experiences with Tuscan country life. The vicinity of the sea softens the climate. In the immediate vicinity there are a couple of excellent restaurants specialized in local country fare. You can visit the wine estate of the owner, the region is beautiful for bicling and hiking, a tennis court is approx. 3 km distant. Daytrips to Capalbio, Tarquinia, Saturnia spas, WWF National Maremma park, islands of Giglio, Giannutri and Monte Argentario are possible from here. Halfway up the hill to a hamlet lies the farmhouse Casa delle Guardie, a recently restored cottage surrounded by olive groves with a splendid view onto the valley and the coastline. The house is very private with no immediate neighbors and the terrace, equipped with table and chairs for al fresco meals, also has a barbecue. Guests have access to a pool lying in the gardens of the castle on the hill at a distance of approx. 600 m. The pool is shared with the guests of Casa al Borgo(also featured in our portfolio).
