“Hale Mauka Makai” We stayed at Hale Mauka Makai May 28-June 7 in 2013. This house in Haiku on Maui is a wonderful vacation property. First, to echo some other reviews, it's really odd that the pictures on the site do not do the property justice. It's better in person and everything Claudia writes about the property is understated. It is hard to describe just how relaxing this house when the windows are open and the trades are flowing through the home. A few notes: the kitchen is well maintained. You will have everything you need to cook (or grill) and make dinner. We made most of our meals while there, and alternated between eating on the lanai or inside in the dining room. Claudia is very proud about her espresso/cappuccino set up and a great way to start your day. The kids spent hours in the pool. There is a chest of pool toys that were well used by all of us, and there are plenty of beach towels. Haiku, of course, is about as far away from the resorts at Kaanapali and Kapalua as one can get and still by on the same island. This location is for people that want to get out and do things, then come 'home' for the evening. On activities, Claudia referred us to Hawaiian Paddle Sports for a few of our outings. The owner, Tim, coaches outrigger teams and coached Claudia who is a steersman on a club team. We kayaked, paddled and surfed with Tim's company (Tim for outrigger paddling and Patrick for kayaking and surfing). These were excellent outings. We did go out for pizza in Haiku at Colleen's, which is a nice local spot and Paia is only a few minutes away. We ate at Mama's Fish House on our last day and ate at the Paia Fish Market and several other places for lunch. We did most of our food shopping at Costco, which is also fairly close in Kahului. The beaches at Hookipa and Paia are close and great beaches. To sum up, we couldn't have been happier with Hale Mauka Makai. It was better than expected and Claudia made us welcome. We will be coming back.

“Perfect!” This condo is beautiful. Felt like home but even nicer! Everything was clean, there were actually condiments in the frig, boogie boards waiting, a couple nice beach chairs, snorkeling gear . . . way more equipped than what some of our friends rented at the same condo through a company! Would definitely go back!!!

“A great vacation spot” We had a terrific time thanks to this well-equipped vacation home. The house was roomy and set up well for a couple of families to share. We loved the view from the patio. Every morning and evening we watched the surfers conquer the waves. We also enjoyed seeing the dolphins and sea lions play. The sunsets were spectacular. The neighborhood was nice, a great place to quietly walk in the morning and at night. We would certainly return to this rental property.

“What more do you need” We recently stayed at Maui Meadows Guesthouse with family and friends and had a wonderful experience there. The house was spacious & tastfully decorated. There was more than enough space for everyone and each room had its own bathroom. We spent lots of time in the lush backyard swimming in the pool, lounging in the hot tub and of course enjoying our own private tiki bar. The house was also stocked with everything we needed including all the essentials for the beach - coolers, boogie board, mask & snorkel, etc. Andrew the owner was always available when we needed him and provided to be a great resource about the island. All in all we had a great time there and are already saving for our next stay. Thanks again Maui Meadows Guesthouse!!

“Relaxing and fun!” Great view from house and deck! I loved playing darts, ping pong, and miniature pool. The kayaks were fun to take out too. This house has a lot of charm and character! Lynn was a great help- the manager with what to do and where to go. I can't wait to come back again! I loved to take walks in the late afternoon. Also, its a two minute walk down to the swimming , snorkeling hole. Also, there's internet and netflix! Honomolino had the best snorkeling on the island! I saw a turtle the size of a volkswagon, also! There's lots of aloha at this house- what a special place!

“A great location in a wonderful destination” All of our party enjoyed our 5 day stay. While the guys went sport fishing(with Tony from Santa Barbara Sportfishing, a real pro),the ladies went to Lotusland(a beautiful gardenspot). We brought enough fish(18) home for two meals and took advantage of a well stocked kitchen and grill. We went hiking in the Santa Ynez mountains just above the rental and enjoyed a view from 2700 feet or so. A limo picked us up and brought us to 4 vineyards. We enjoyed several fantastic meals, local Mexican fare,El Sitio(taqueria),Los agaves(with fabulous sauces) and Brophy's, a local seafood place with clam chowder that was as good as I've had anywhere. We went to the "Choir Mass"(0900, Sunday) at the Mission of Santa Barbara and the music was inspiring. I recommend this to any visitor to SB. We made good use of the pool, spa and poolside furniture. A bonus was the fruit(oranges, lemons and limes) on the tiered orchard that surrounds the pool area. I can't imagine a better place to spend time while visiting Santa Barbara. We will be contacting Wendy to make arrangements to stay when our daughter gets married in SB next fall.

“The perfect Cottage” Our stay at the cottage was the perfect girl getaway. The location was great, we shopped, we did some wine tasting, we went out to breakfast all on the same street and didn't have to drive! The cottage was so adorable and comfortable, we could sit on the porch and watch all the action out front. The kitchen has everything you need to stay in and cook, play games and just chill. Can't wait to come back.

“Great location and comfortable space!” The location of the house was great and a close walk to the beach. It also had a very private feeling to it also. There is a lot of space so that everyone does not feel crowded. The jacuzzi is a great addition that added to the experience.
