“A gorgeous house and pool, loved everything about it.” We stayed at La Retraite for one week with our two children aged 17 and 9 along with our friends and their son aged 18.
Booking was easy and the owner Alan was most helpful providing lots of info regarding the house and local places of interest before our departure.
On arrival we were delighted to find the property immaculately clean and true to the photographs shown. The house is very spacious, plenty of room for everyone and a wonderful homely feel, nice comfortable furniture, interesting art and great objects decorate the house perfectly. This is a house that is much loved by its owners. The Kitchen was well equipped with everything one would need. Plenty of seating for everyone to sit down together, wether indoors or out.
The pool was a great size, and when not in use was perfectly safe as it can be gated with padlocks and the pool fully covered.
Lots of bikes, games, a vast selection of books, dvds and internet connection all available for our use. We all thoroughly enjoyed our holiday, we did venture out to sightsee various places as recommended by Alan, which were all nice. We were on other occasions more the than happy to just stay at La Retraite in its relaxing environment and just simply chill. I would recommend this property without a doubt. Actually I would rather keep it a secret so it's not fully booked when I next choose to return ha ha.
Cosy studio with a little garden. Very comfortable bed, well-equipped kitchen. Our lovely friendly host, Hazel, even supplied a bottle of wine and everything we needed for breakfast. Highly recommended. We will be back! …
Le Petit Logis
nice but dissapointing
very nice place but was let down by the caretakers who obviously did not carry out an inventory before our arrival, there were many essential items missing, ie broom mop kitchen utensils bowls etc and very poor lighting to cook by. the local ammenaties were also a dissapointment as there was no bar or restaurant, ok if you want to spend your nights indoors the coop is very handy.
we met the owners on our second week, very accommadating & nice people shame they are let down by the things they have little control over. lovely place great pool area and outside space but be aware you have to drive if you want a night out. …
Maison Du Puits
Great for a break from it all
We visited Maison du Puits with friends for a break from it all, and got just what we needed.
We found there to be plenty of room for all of us to enjoy our holiday without getting in each others way and particularly liked the large kitchen (and the large bath!). The house has lots of character which is great if you like older properties like we do.
We thought we might miss out on a few things by visiting so early in the year, but we were very pleasantly surprised by the weather - sunshine nearly every day - lovely.
We found there to be plenty of lovely restaurants to visit a short drive away. The one that we walked to in the village was a liitle quiet, but good food.
We really enjoyed the markets too - worth getting up early for.
Thanks to Tim and Lucy and their caretakers for a lovely stay, and also for the bottle of wine on arrival - much appreciated after a long journey!
A lovely house with extras
We spent a lovely week at La Retraite. The house was spotlessly clean and very well equipped to a high standard. There wasn't anything we needed that wasn't there. The broadband was slightly dodgy but that stopped us all burying our heads in our phones/tablets so in hindsight was a positive. The owner provided use of bikes and there were toys/games/dvd's to cover all our childrens ages - 1-12. It would have been nice to have a restaurant or bar within walking distance but other than that I cannot fault this house. …
