“historic but very comfortable house in superb location” Have visited this 17th century yet very well equipped and comfortable house twice with extended family including teenagers and an aunt and grandmother in their eighties. The property felt like a home and all loved it and coped easily with the spiral staircase. The location in the main square in Richelieu is ideal. Restaurants bars and shops are a stone's throw away yet the thick walls mean that the secluded garden at the back of the property is totally tranquil and a perfect place to retreat with a good book , to sunbathe or simply for an afternoon snooze. The town is of great historic interest and also within easy reach of a number of chateaux - don' t miss the gardens at Villandry. The towns of Chinon and Saumur have some great shops and Tours is a fascinating city. Don't miss the Friday market in Richelieu - amazing fish, vegetables, cheeses and other local produce. Would definitely return.
