Location : Situated in a quiet cul-de-sac lane under Croagh Patrick, a short stroll from the Blue Flag Beach of Bertra Strand with sand dunes. The property enjoys an amazing Croagh Patrick mountain vista. Located just 9 km from the beautiful town of Westport with its fantastic selection of shops, pubs and restaurants, music festivals, indoor pools and spas. Going west 9 km is the quaint village of Louisburgh with some of the finest surfing beaches in Ireland. There are 4 Pubs, Bar food and a Restaurant in the nearby (1 km) villages of Murrisk and Lecanvey.

Amenities : This is a perfect location to combine a climb on Croagh Patrick with a beach holiday ie. swimming, shore- fishing, windsurfing, kite-surfing, sea-kayaking. Close by are Golf courses, surfing beaches, hill walking and bird watching areas. This area is a spectacular cycling area with many marked small cycling roads with trips to Killary Harbour, Silverstrand the the islands. There is a cycle lane along the coast from Croagh Patrick to Westport that joins up with the newly opened GREENWAY cycle lane to Newport, Mulranny and Achill Island.

On the same property we also have Bertra Strand Apartment for 2 (property code 6274025) and Bertra Cottage for 2 (Property code- 6279548). Depending on your needs these units can be rented together with 'Palm Beach' Apartment if you are traveling with friends or family.

SERVICES (included in weekly and 3 day quotes) : Service charges + € 50.00 / week for heating, linen, towels, electricity, internet and bins. (+ €25.00/long weekend or 3 day mid week break). Weekly Cleaning turnaround is included but guests are expected to vacate the property in a clean condition.

DAMAGE DEPOSIT : Refundable € 50 per stay.

Due to internal staircase/gallery and steps on deck/walkways and the pond with a waterdepth of 20-50 cm the property is not suitable for people with walking difficulties, babies or young children below 10 years of age. There is no wheelchair access.

EXPLORING ISLANDS : There are Ferries from Roonagh Quay near Louisburgh to Clare Island and Inisturk Island

LOCAL PUBS / RESTAURANTS :

Besides the many Pubs and Restaurants in Westport and Louisburgh we have 4 local Pubs for a good pint of Guinness – (Campbell's and The Tavern also serve good Food) in the local villages of Murrisk and Lecanvey (Stauntons) approx 1 mile away. Also recommended is the Shebeen Pub for food on the coast road before Westport.

The Western Ireland region

This spectacular region in the West of Ireland ids centred around Clew Bay with 365 Islands and the Ireland's holy mountain of Croagh Patrick. The quaint historic town of Westport with lots of Music Pubs and restaurants and festivals is also the adventure capitol of Ireland and gateway to Connemara. Westport has been voted by the Irish Times as the best place to live in Ireland. The famous Greenway cycle track following a disused railway line goes from Westport all the way to Achill Island and connects also to a cycle lane to Croagh Patrick. There are historic mansions such as Westport House, castles and monasteries in the region around Clew Bay as well as prehistoric dolmens and stones.

Following the Wild Atlantic Way on the coast road from Westport past Croagh Patrick and Bertra Strand (our location) you get to Louisburgh with miles of renowned sandy beaches such as Silverstrand and the surfing beach of Carrowniskey. A most spectacular drive from Louisburgh is to our local Fjord Killery Harbour, the Aasleigh waterfalls and Leenane and into Connemara to locations such as Kylemore Abbey. Clare Island and the local pirate queen Grace O'Malley's Castle and Inishturk Island can be visited by ferry from Roonah Quay near Louisburgh.

The whole region is famous for sea and fly fishing.
