Location description from owner

The Brittany region

Brittany has long been a favourite holiday destination. There is something for everyone here. For the beach lover, there is 1700 miles of coastline to explore, with a wide variety of beaches. If you enjoy the night-life, there are nightclubs and casinos.

Most of Brittany is very rural, so for those who want to come and relax, no effort is needed. For the more adventurous, there is horse riding, golf, go-cart racing, paint-ball, climbing, water-sports and much more. If that is too adventurous, there are many miles of old railway lines that have been converted into green paths, where you can cycle or walk all day admiring the beautiful countryside, without being bothered by traffic.

Children are not left out either, with plenty of adventure parks, zoos, aquariums etc to choose from.

If you are interested in history or archaeology, you will be spoilt for choice. Brittany is full of medieval towns, old churches, castles and forts, neolithic monuments, Roman temples and much more, most of which can be visited for free, including the parking!

Trevron

Dinan area is especially worth a visit, as there is so much to see and do. The town itself has everything ranging from the most modern facilities and shops, to the impressive 13th century castle (now housing the museum) and it's 1.3 Mile long ramparts which are the oldest and most outstanding in Brittany. The old town has cobbled streets and many original timber framed buildings and is well worth a look round.

The port is unmissable, walk along the towpath admiring the boats, stop in one of the riverside cafés for a drink, and if you feel fit enough, walk up the steep cobbled Rue du Petit-Fort to the old town, which was the main point of access to Dinan up until the 18th Century. The viaduct overlooking the port is impressive at 131ft tall, if somewhat more modern.

Nearer to home, at Trévron, there is a tennis court and football field, and access to the 'chemin de fer', the old railway line, where one can walk or cycle for miles on the nearly level paths admiring the countryside and stopping off in the villages.
