Charles Hebbert, travel writer, featured our apartment in an article on 'The 10 best places to stay outside Venice' in the Times Online. Mr Hebbert describes our apartment as: 'very comfortable accommodation, recently modernised and equipped by its owners with the visitors in mind - so it is very well furnished and provides excellent information on the area.'

In order that our guests can explore Treviso and the beautiful countryside we have provided six adult bicycles and two bicycles for children. To cater for our very young guests, a child's seat is fitted on one of the adult bicycles.

The Veneto region

Without doubt one of the most beautiful places in the Veneto, Treviso'is located between the Dolomites and the Adriatic coast. The region, known as the 'garden of Venice', has a beautiful landscape scattered with delightful medieval towns. Visitors are invited to discover its gentle hills and to journey to the Prealps, where many ancient Venetian legends live on reminding visitors of the province's rich past.

Daytrips to Venice, Treviso's famous neighbour are easy and accesible. There is a frequent rail service and also coach connections. The train is faster, taking half an hour from Treviso to Venice's Santa Lucia station, and at €4.00 return is an enjoyable and econmical way of travel.

Natural parks, walled cities, architectural masterpieces, (by the likes of Palladio and Scarpa) paintings (by masters like Girogione,Tiepolo, Veronese), the sculptures of Canova, wine cellars offering traditional wine tasting, regional food specialities (like casatella, asparagus, red chicory, radicchio and sopressa) are just a few of the the things you will enjoy on a visit to Treviso and its surrounding region.

Should your tastes be more energetic and you fancy testing Olympic ski runs then take a 90 minute train journey to Cortina, known as 'the pearl of the Dolomites' . Alternatively if wine tasting and rural landscapes are more to your taste, you could tour the Prosecco-producing area of the Veneto - 'L'Anello del Prosecco' (the Prosecco ring), a 10km footpath connecting villages and vineyards.

Padua (Padova) reknowned as an ancient university town can be reached in around an hour by train. Whilst Verona, the home of Shakespeare’s star crossed lovers, Romeo and Juliet, is a two hour train journey away.

The coastal resorts of Lido di Jesolo and Caorle are also within easy reach.

North East Italy

Treviso's meandering waterways and tranquil atmosphere make it an ideal base for exploring the area
or for enjoying a quiet Italian break. Rebuilt and restored after Second World War bombing, the town centre is a rambling maze of streets lined with arcaded walkways. Treviso is a true artistic and historial treasure and its charming streets are scattered with medieval buildings which retain their historical charm.

The town is circled by a town wall and numerous waterways; Treviso is sometimes referred to as 'little Venice'. The river Sile runs to the south of the centre, and canals carry water around the town, lined with houses or grassy banks, weeping willows, waterwheels and little parks. Treviso is a pleasant place to wander, and it has an abundance of bars, cafés and restaurants perfect for sampling the local cuisine and sparkling Prosecco.

One of Treviso's other notable features is its comfortable air of prosperity and the town is home to the clothing empire Benetton. Unlike Venice, this town doesn't depend on tourism - you won't be hassled by people trying to sell you leather goods or glassware, you can just appreciate a typical Italian town going about its daily business. So if you want a quiet getaway which provides a true taste of Italian life, this is the perfect destination.

“Great base to explore Treviso, Venice and area”

Reviewed 10 Nov 2016

Spacious and clean apartment with three double bedrooms. Well equipped kitchen and outdoor terrace. Within easy walking of supermarket, restaurants and take out wine outlet. Bus stop outside with regular service to Treviso for rail or bus connections.

“Spacious well equipped base for exploring the area”

Lots of good things about this apartment: clean, plenty of room, well equipped. Location is ok - it's not the prettiest area, being surrounded by residential houses, but it was quiet, close to good a very supermarket (2 minute drive) and easy to get to lots of touristy places. Treviso is worth a visit (we did drive - watch out for the ZTL), and Marco Polo airport is an easy 20 minute drive. Train to Venice is straightforward (validate those tickets, 200 euro fine per ticket for not doing so!) and it's a pleasant hour's drive round to Treporti to catch the vaporetto to Burano - get there early to beat the crowds on the island (loads of parking at Treporti, but beware the café that sells the ferry tickets didn't take credit card). Downsides? This area of Italy in August has a lot of mosquitoes from dusk, bring repellent. (Can't blame that on the apartment though). Beaches round here are 'typical' Italian: crowded, and covered in parasols and sun loungers. But fine, if you don't mind that. overall a good rental and good value for money, in an area that's good for a family holiday.

Dear Guest Thank you for taking the time to post a review and for your positive comments about our apartment. We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay and that you found the accommodation good value for money and well equipped. As you have mentioned the apartment is in a quiet residential area rather than in a holiday complex. This gives our guests the opportunity to enjoy a truly Italian experience and also to take advantage of visiting the more touristy areas of Venice and the coast. We are pleased you enjoyed your visit to Burano - it is one of our favourite places in Italy. Best wishes Carol and Steve

“Fabulous location and facilities for family holiday in beautiful friendly part of Veneto”

Reviewed 30 Dec 2014

This was our second fabulous holiday to Treviso, staying at Apartment Sile. We'e a family of five, with kids aged 16,14 & 12 at the time of this hol. Silea is a short bus ride from the town centre, with a very direct, easy to use service which stops 2 mins from the apartment. Treviso centre is also a pleasant walk or cycle ride away, with a safe car-free route all the way. This means we had the best of both worlds: peace and space in the suburbs, with local shops, pizzarias, gelateria, bars and a park, whilst close enough to enjoy the historic centre of Treviso with its lovely bustle, bars, market, numerous churches and museum. Connections with Venice and other towns and villages are great - Conegliano, Bassano, Padova for e.g. The apartment is thoughtfully equipped and furnished, making family catering and downtime simple and pleasant (not always the case in holiday lets!), with spacious living room, terrace and kitchen...and all the utensils you'd need for preparing any meal using fabulous local ingredients This year we enjoyed getting to know the enoteca (on the main road towards Treviso...on the right between the butchers (macelleria) and supermarket Cadoro), where wine on tap is sold by the litre! Bring your own container and pay 1,30euro for a litre of malbec, or a little more per litre for local prosecco. All in all, a holiday highly recommended by all of us. We will certainly be going back!

“Clean, spacious & well equipped apartment in a fab location - highly recommended!”

My husband and I spent 2 happy weeks at Apartment Sile this August with our children (aged 11, 13 & 15). The whole experience was stress-free and enjoyable, and we'd definitely return. Treviso is a beautiful city in it's own right, with a large well preserved historic centre: many churches, excellent museums and lots of lovely bars, gelaterias and people, it is also a conveniently placed city from which to explore the Veneto. We visited without a car and were not stuck at any time. The apartment is on the bus route to town and the railway station (takes 10mins), and from there there is a huge choice of day trips. Cycling (15mins) and walking (30mins) are both good options too though, along the generous leafy cycle lanes. We walked &/or cycled to town every day! Silea is a pleasant peaceful suburb, with a couple of nice bars and pizzarias within walking distance, church and a good supermarket and weekly open air market (good fish & cheese stalls). The apartment has plenty of space, indoor and out, and books, dvds and guides, maps etc. Very well equipped throughout: hi-vis jackets for cycling, bags to organise recycling (this is not always the case in holiday rentals!), everything you could possibly need in the kitchen, and even a set of bathroom scales (vital if you are travelling home with Ryanair and want to bring back cheese and salami!). We sincerely hope to return!

“Beautiful apartment! When can we come back?”

The apartment is lovely, with everything we needed. It was so handy for the bus into Treviso (just on the main road outside the apartment block) and there are a couple of lovely places to eat a short walk away. Thanks to Carol and Steves handy folder of info, we discovered the cake shop just up the road and bar Nea a short trip on the bikes away and would recommend both. We fell in love with Venice and would also recommend a trip to Bacareto Da Lele for a cheap snack. We visited Venice a number of times and took the boat to Murano and Burano, both worth a trip. We also went to Verona and Garda, all by the fantastic public transport. Looking forward to visiting again, just need to get Hannah riding a bike for next time so we can take full advantage of the bikes in the garage!

The apartment is ideally situated for the exploring the region using the maps and guide book infomade availble in the apartment for use by Carol & Steve, also having the bicycles , made exploring Silea itself good fun, you see much more when not in a car ans can stop where you like! The apartment itself has been furnished with great care and all needs are covered, with good modern decor, very clean and lots of added touches ie free wi-fi.Thanks again for making this a brill holiday we hope to be back.

“Very well equipped apartment and superbly located for exploring in and around Venice.”

Easily accessible from Venice Marco Polo Airport with an approx transfer time of 40 minutes. Apartment very spacious, nicely decorated and well equipped. The very large terrace was excellent for al fresco dining and great for relaxing in the evenings with a good book and a glass of local wine. Bikes great for getting about with fantastic cycle ways in and around the apartment. Would definitely recommend cycling along the canal into Treviso which is well worth a visit. From here you can hop on a train to Venice which is only a 45 minute journey away. If you fancy a lazy day by the beach, Lido di Jesolo is only 40 minutes away and here you will find miles of sandy beach with the usual tourist souvenir shops, cafes, restaurants and bars in abundance. Would love to return one day.

“Great base for exploring Venice and the Veneto”

Reviewed 3 Nov 2012

The apartment was lovely! Very well-equipped and clean, it was a home from home. It is also very light and spacious. The wifi and DVDs were very useful distractions for the children in the evening! It was excellent value and a great base. The bikes were very useful however we had a hire car and think we would have struggled had we relied solely on public transport. Having said that, trains from Treviso were very cheap, frequent and reliable.

“Outstanding access to North Eastern Italy. Typically Italian!”

We chose this property because we were a party of 7 and wanted to visit Venice, Verona and the surrounding area. Normally we stay out in the countryside but opt to live within a residential district on this occasion since training into Venice is far simpler than driving. We could not have chosen a better property. Plenty of room for 7 adults, easy access to local sites and attractions and lots of really nice local shops to explore. The canal walk to Treviso is very long and yet relaxing and lovely. The local community are very welcoming and the whole holiday was fantastic. Thank you so much for allowing us to stay!
