On the Sea. A wonderful cabin. It is comfortable and private, high cielings, one bedroom, bathroom, and full size sitting/breakfast/kitchen room with an extra bed - sofa. You are 500 feet from the wharf which is the hub of this outport.
The Space
In the fotos it is the ORANGE CABIN. If this CABIN is not available for the dates you would like, please look at our COTTAGE, BARN, BUNKY, TIPI and BEACH SHED on TRIPADVISOR. All our properites are listed as East Coast Newfoundland Cottage and Cabin. Thanks.
The cabin comforts are basic, the space wonderful. The surrounding area, absolutely beautiful. We also offer locally sourced food on site at extra cost.
Located on the East Coast Trail, we are at the head of the trail to La Manche Park in Bauline East. From the house it is a 40 minute hike to the swinging bridge where the waterfalls is topped by one of our many swimming holes in the area. The East Coast Trail is 300km of spectacular trails.
We have a pond across the street for swimming, rocky beach for bonfires and kayaking is also near by. There is also a tour boat that leaves from our harbour to view humpback whales while visiting the bird island reserves off the coast.
Two rooms. One bedroom has Queen size bed, the other with sofa/bed that is also the living/dining room with an outside patio. All cotton sheet and down covers. The kitchen includes a dining table and all the amenities including toaster oven, refrigerator, microwave and outdoor shared BBQ with gas or coal (bring if you prefer!). This second room can be converted into a bedroom on request. The bathroom has a hot shower and there is another outdoor shower as well. There is WiFi and a smart TV with NetFlix.
Bauline East is an outport settled about 150 years ago. Derived from the French word "baleine" meaning whale, Bauline East is a fishing village of twelve homes with all the seasonal activity of fishing and crabbing.
This is an ideal space for people who enjoy rustic living, suited for artists or traveling adventurers, loungers (there is hammocks), hikers, whale watchers, bird spotters and music festival goers..
We are 50 minutes south of St. John's, approximately 380 miles north by northwest and 1,000 meters above the sunken Titanic, in a sheltered cove overlooking the Atlantic.
NB: PRICE - If you are worried about the price being reasonable, please don't be, it goes with our idea that people should bring prices down rather than take them up. We could charge more, but we don't, we want to rent at a price which we would want to rent at but with the quality that we would also want. We do not go for this overprice motel mentality.

Guest Access
A full cabin with porch. Shared BBQ. The property is more like a compound with four structures. Other than the Main House or Cottage you have the most livable space . Parking is off the street.
Interaction with Guests
If we are here we interact or not depending on guests.
The Neighbourhood
It is an outport community. There are only about 18 houses. People are friendly and the wharf is a working wharf so there is activity there most of the time, it gives you a sense of place.
Other Things to Note
The weather is all over the place, I have been in the most miserable weather in Newfoundland with six weeks of bad weather during the summer, but then again while the rest of the world was suffering from cold and misery, Newfoundland was brilliant and beautiful. You never know.
