To make sure you see all that's on offer, we suggest taking a boat tour and exploring the main islands. While you're out on the water you'll see huge icebergs and probably some humpback whales - don't forget to bring your camera!
There are many lighthouses on the islands, but our favourite is the Ferryland lighthouse. Not only is it one of the oldest - it was built in the 1870s - but they do delicious gourmet lunches! Just pick a spot outside and enjoy.
While we're talking about food, you must try some of the wild Atlantic salmon! You'll never be too far from a plate of fish and chips during this holiday.
For the adventurous, follow a local guide on a harvesting rail up the Torngat mountains. The vast wilderness is spectacular and you may see Inuits hunt, fish and travel as they've done for centuries.
Top Newfoundland and Labrador travel tips
You won't need to worry about your French vocabulary here. Most of the locals speak English.
Gratuities aren't usually included in Canadian bars and restaurants, so you'll be expected to leave a tip. Between 10-15% is standard.
An extra jumper won't go amiss on this holiday, either. Even in the summer, the sea breeze can be a bit harsh. But it's made worth it when you see a whale or two on the horizon.
