Palacio Tropical started out as a dream. A dream to have an oceanfront palace on Costa Rica’s (“Rich Coast”) Pacific Coast.
After searching the entire west coast of Costa Rica for the most beautiful and private beach, the owners of Palacio Tropical discovered the beach in front of Tango Mar Resort. This pristine two (2) mile crescent-shaped stretch of beach is flanked on one side by rocky cliffs and on the other by a rainforest jungle. Tango Mar became famous when it hosted the first edition of the series “Temptation Island”. “Temptation Island” was one of TV’s first reality shows.
There was a spectacular beachfront home site available and it was quickly purchased. The owners hired Omar Bonilla, one of Costa Rica’s finest architects, to design a home that emphasized the home site’s location and embellished the spectacular ocean views. After six (6) months of design, construction was started on Palacio Tropical. Over eighty (80) workers and craftsmen were hired from all over Central America to build Palacio Tropical. It took over a year to complete the home, however, the owners then had to furnish this tropical palace.
An interior design firm from world-famous Hilton Head Island was hired and they commenced purchasing furniture from High Point, North Carolina.
The dream has now become reality! Nestled on Costa Rica’s most private beach rests Palacio Tropical. With over 10,000 heated/air-conditioned square feet, the home boasts seven (7) master bedrooms, an eighth bedroom designed as a one (1) bedroom apartment with full kitchen, two (2) living areas, a media room, a large dining room with 14 person table and a chef’s kitchen. Exterior features of the home include a dramatic entry with waterfall and teak bridge, multiple decks (all with ocean views), beachfront pool with kid’s pool, outdoor bar, covered veranda with 14 person table, outside showers and direct access to a private two (2) mile beach.
