This charming village house, 300 years old and steeped in history, has been fully renovated by the present owners to provide modern comfortable character accommodation with stunning views of Lake Como and the surrounding mountains. For families, groups or couples, this house has a special quality. Just stand by the window and let your heart soar.
At street level a vaulted corridor leads to an ample terrace with space for dining and lounging. Stone stairs lead to the light and modern living space with double windows facing straight onto the lake. The main bedroom (also with lake view) and bathrooms lead off this area. Upstairs a spacious attic bedroom has views of the ancient village and the forest. The kitchen area is well-equipped, and the lounge area has a premium quality sofabed that converts into a king-size bed. Flatscreen TV with UK satellite channels. The upstairs room is equipped with games and a DVD player to entertain children. We can hire cot and high chair for you if needed, and water and energy costs are included in your rental.
Although the building is centuries old, the decor is light and contemporary, but with touches of cosiness, like the wood-burning stove, to make sure that the house is welcoming all year round. Its thick stone walls mean it is never too hot in summer nor too cold in winter. It was once part of a home of a noble family, which became a convent on the Antica Via Regina, so it has had a long tradition of welcoming travellers to the lake area, a tradition that we are happy to continue!
We've provided lots of information and maps to help you make the most of every day. But if you don't feel like going far, this is the perfect place, because the lovely beach, perfect for swimming and sunbathing, is only five minutes down a cobbled path, and the village has everything you need.
Parking in a secure double garage is about 100 yards away at the end of the narrow cobbled street. For those who would prefer to be car-free, we find that it is perfectly possible to enjoy a wonderful holiday here using public transport. The main bus service that runs the length of the lake is only a few minutes walk down the hill.

The Lake Como region
Generation after generation of visitors has fallen in love with Lake Como and the surrounding area, and as soon as you get there, it's easy to see why. In every direction you look, there are vistas to make you catch your breath. With the perfect blend of natural splendour and man-made beauty and elegance, the Lake Como area has a wealth of delights to please even the most demanding tourist.
Lake Como is over 30 miles long, and the village of Acquaseria in the comune of San Siro is situated just north of its mid-point, the 'Golden Triangle' formed by the famous resorts of Menaggio, Varenna and Bellagio. It is the widest point of the lake, so that stunning vistas open out on all sides, framed by the magnificent Alps to the north. Having a mild and moderate climate all year round, it is never too cold in the winter nor too hot in the summer. It combines mountain landscape with gardens full of Mediterranean vegetation, azaleas, roses, olive groves and lemon trees.
The variety of the landscape is one of the things that delights visitors of all ages and backgrounds. Near the lakeside towards the southern end, and in the Golden Triangle itself, are found some of the most famous and beautiful villas and palaces in the world, such as the Villa Carlotta and Villa Balbianello, featured in many movies. Five minutes from these you might find yourself in the rambling winding alleyways of a 16th century village, or relaxing in a sparkling modern lido.
The village is perched on a hill above the water, which means that our house has a magnificent view, although it is only five minutes from the lakeside. There are plentiful local shops, so that you can be fully self-catering without leaving the village, although a few minutes away you will find a choice of supermarkets. With three restaurants and reputedly the best pizzas on the lake, there is also plenty of choice when it comes to eating out. The local beach is a little-known gem, with good swimming in clear waters where the torrent from which the village gets its name joins the lake. While it is a lovely convenient base for your Lake Como holiday, this is also a real living village, with skilled tradespeople and farmers going about their daily business in a genuine community. If a slice of genuine Italian village life appeals to you, this is the place to be.
