The lifestyle here calls on all five senses in the warmth of the Mediterranean with sea views, and the aroma of flowers and herbs from the Ligurian hills. The Villa d'Artisti is perched above the city, 20 Minutes by car, where peace and relaxation provide a welcome contrast to a busy daily routine.
There are various apartments spread over two stories at the villa. The villa may be rented anytime during the year, even in winter. Central heading is available in every apartment and a wood-burning stove is available in the Ginestra apartment. Spring begins in San Remo already at the end of February, when the broom and mimosas bloom and perfume the garden and temperatures reach 18°C.
Ginestra
The “Ginestra” is a 3-room apartment on the second floor of the villa. From the kitchen window, there is a view of the fragrant broom that grows on the typical Ligurian terraces.
The spacious apartment is tastefully decorated and offers space for four people. It has a bathroom, kitchen, access to a balcony, the pergola (covered seating area) and a garden with a view of the sea. In winter, the apartment may be heated using the central heating and the wood-burning stove offers additional heating and ambiance.
Additionally you can book professional Yoga- and Meditationcourses on site.
History
Born in 1933, the painter Constantin Polastri realized his life’s works at the Villa d‘Artisti. What was once a simple country house with a chicken coop and fields was transformed by his continuous renovations from 1974 onwards. With craftsmanship. handiwork and the help of his wife and friends, who often worked in exchange for a stay at the house or painting lessons, the house was transformed into the villa it is today. Until shortly before his death in 2009, the Villa d’Artisti was his atelier. The choice of San Remo was not a coincidence. The town where the Impressionists saw representing the southern light as an inspiration and challenge was also where the artist Polastri tapped into his Italian roots. In the Villa d’Artisti the magical atmosphere and miniature hidden worlds are touching in their beauty. Constatin Polastri’s vision of the Villa d’Artisti was not only to provide inspiration for his paintings, but also to create joy for others and to make the world a better place – at least at the Villa d’Artisti.
Activities
Campo Golf
The golf course was founded in 1932 on request by the administration of San Remo to support tourism. It is only a 5 minute drive from the Villa d’Artisti and is stretched across several terraces and even includes a lake. The hilly terrain of the 18-hole golf course is often described as offering a sporty challenge that requires strength and precision. Despite this, beginners also find a place on the course. The breathtaking view over the hills is reason enough to stop by the English bar even for an afternoon tea.
Parco San Romolo
Hiking and Bike-Trails
From the villa a drive of about fifteen minutes by bus or car will bring you to San Romolo (787 meters above sea level). Along with a visit to Bajardo, the former hermitage of San Romolo and home of the patron saint of San Remo is a popular destination in summer. From there you can hike on old hunter's paths through enchanting valleys.
Valle Argentina
East of San Remo is the Valle Argentina, where the hills up to 700 meters above sea level are covered with olive tree groves that grow the aromatic “Taggiasca” olives. Taggia, a small, medieval town, is famous for having the best olives. This authentic landscape is represented in the local cuisine, rich in vegatables and fish. The so-called “Cucina Povera” consists almost exclusively of products produced locally.
Giardini Hanbury
West of San Remo is Ventimiglia and the Giardini Hanbury, the largest botanical garden in Italy with a variety of succulents and cacti from around the world.
Bordighera/Ospedaletti
The picturesque old town in Bordighera is enchanting, and the clean water offers the perfect place to swim in the sea (on a beach with stones and gravel). In Ospedaletti and San Remo there are further swimming areas (with sandy beaches).
