Located in the medieval part of upper San Fedele, Cà dei Brenta used to be the home of a national hero under the Austrian Empire, during independence of Italy.
From 1833 to 1849 Cà dei Brenta was the home of Andrea Brenta, a patriot who fought with Garibaldi and the Piedmontese army. He participated in the liberation of Como and Valtellina.
He led the Mazzinian uprising of October 1948 and rejected the attack by the Austrian army with a group of fellow soldiers.
The neighborhood is very quiet, 5 minutes by foot from the center of the village were you will find from coffee shops to restaurants, from the bakery to the local pastries, as well as the pharmacy and the bank.
Around the corner you will find the forest (50m from the house) where you can catch a small trail for a pleasant easy trek. Lake Como and lake Lugano are 15 minutes away by car, were you can visit some of Italy's best cultural heritage sites. Between the 12th and 18th Century artisans, architects and artists of the area have built and decorated countless churches and palaces; from St Petersburg to Milan and from Monaco to Parma. The artists of the valley were mostly renown for the art of “Scagliola”, the imitation of marble and marble inlay using variously colored chalk mixes, of which several examples can be seen in the valley.
