Location description from owner

The Dordogne region

Set in the Beautiful Dordogne valley with its abundance of Chateaux there is so much to suit every taste, there are many oldie worldy towns and villages each with its own charm, markets, restaurants and artisan shops. The river Dordogne and the Vezere are perfect for canoeing and very popular with snack bars along the way and beautiful scenery for photo opportunities. There are caves to explore and quite safely as there are paths and walkways to allow maximum enjoyment of these natural wonders. There is golf, cycling, ballooning, airplane tours, markets galore, places to ramble, good food to buy and restaurants to suit every budget with tasty meals.

Saint-Cyprien

Bezenac, Castels, St Cyprien are all close by. St Cyprien is the largest village with Carrefour supermarlet and many other shops and eating places. St Cyprien is only five minutes away by car. The town has a market every Sunday morning which is well worth a visit. At the foot of the hill there is a pizza kiosk which is handy for a quick snack for those not wanting to cook. Lucco boulangerie sells delicious bread, cakes and ice creams. Continuing towards St Cyprien there is a small but high quality butcher shop and next is Roxanne et Cyrano which sells a wide selection of wines and other local produce

“Fantastic holiday!”

Reviewed 7 Sep 2016

Our holiday to Le Hibou Heureux has been a wonderful experience. We drove from Cherbourg in our 45 year old camper van, stayed one night in Poitiers and then plodded on down to the Dordogne where we were met by Ewen (the owner) at the cottage. Ewen was great. Communication was excellent, queries were quickly answered and nothing was too much trouble for him. Le Hibou Heureux is beautifully secluded with a large garden full of scented flowers, a heated pool, perfect blue skies; absolutely idyllic. The cottage was immaculate and very well equipped. The quirky town of St Cyprien is a short drive away as is the stunning village of Beynac. There is so much to do and see in this beautiful part of France and my teenage kids (15 and 19) really enjoyed our stay too! We will certainly re visit Ewen again, but next time for two weeks.

Many thanks Nigel Kristina and family. I'm glad you all enjoyed your stay in the villa and very much look forward to seeing you all again next time. Your dogs are also welcome! All the best, Ewen
