From the owner

Beautiful villa situated on a secluded location in the beautiful Dordogne valley. Modern and spacious accommodation, large lawn and garden, patio area and private swimming pool. The house is fully equipped with all amenities for your comfort. There is a stone barbecue and adjacent picnic area in the grounds which are embraced by a feature stone medieval wall. We upgraded the poolside with new wooden decking and improved shading over the patio area.

New new new - EV charging point, fast three phase socket, perfect for EV owners - secure overnight charging.

We also rent up to two rooms on a B&B basis for those who don't want to rent the entire house. Please contact me for a price and details of the room(s). This facility is not available during July and August.

The Villa comprises of kitchen dining area, leading to lounge with comfortable seating looking out through the patio doors to the extensive gardens with private pool. one master bedroom with shower, bath twin his sinks, toilet and bidet, the second bedroom has en high quality shower room with wash basin and toilet, the third bedroom has a shower room with wash basin. The 4th bedroom/sleeping area is on mezzanine level above the lounge area.

Set in grounds of approx 1 acre with private pool, Le Hibou Heureux (The Happy Owl) is an ideal base to explore the stunningly beautiful Dordogne valley. The local shops are only five minutes drive away, the best quality boulangerie, boucherie, poissonnerie and of course the supermarket for those who want a single convenient shop.

On the activities there is the River Dordogne nearby for canoeing, hot air ballooning, beautiful medieval villages of Beynac and St Cyprien 5 minutes away, caves to explore lovely stalagmites and crystal formations, golf, walks for ramblers, and all in all, plenty for the entire family to enjoy.

I'm available 24/7 for any needs you may have, trip and shopping advice, what's on locally, suggestions, taxi and restaurant bookings..... I'll greet you when you arrive and give you the keys and a house tour to get you settled in. I'll also see you when you leave to get the keys back. The pool and the garden need to be maintained, this can be done at an agreed time to give you maximum privacy. Some guests like me to do this early morning, some prefer when they are out for the day, I'm flexible. It's my aim that you have a relaxing and an enjoyable time so I'll fit in with your requirements. Any issues at all - something broken or not working, accident, whatever, I'm available to resolve all 24/7.

House rules

Smoking is allowed in the area provided outside on the patio or at the picnic area. Please dispose of cigarette butts in the buckets provided. Cigarette butts on furniture or carpets will incur a penalty fee, smoking indoors will incur a cleaning fee of £100 deductible from the damage deposit. Please don't smoke inside the house.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

If Ewen (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
