This precious 135ha private rainforest reserve is ideal for your vacation, holidays, studying, Yoga - or just to get away from it all!
Our base camp is made of local wood and equipped with moskito tents, kitchen with gas stove, grill, larger living area/community space, full flushing toilets and showers.
From the base camp you can hike to nearby waterfalls and explore the lush flora and fauna of the Costa Rican rainforest.
Aiko is a 135ha private nature reserve that you will have exclusively for you. No one else will be there. No other tours or guests will disturb your rainforest exploration. This way you not only see an undisturbed forest but you're also likely to see more animals than in national parks. There's many miles of hiking paths leading to numerous natural pools and waterfalls and millions of plants and animals.
Especially the overnight stay is a unique experience you will never forget.
We offer guided tours to our guests and we can well as arrange additional services like cooking services, guided tours, birdwatching trips, survival tranings or yoga classes as you wish.
The neighbourhood includes very very few persons. You will be among millions of animals and plants mostly.
You can get to the camp with our 4x4 Jeep in normal conditions when it´s not raining a lot via Hone Creek or Bribri.
Our rates include transportation to and from the camp for the first four guests as well as materials and food. For larger groups please calculate an extra 15000Colones/ US$28.
Hone Creek is about 8km away by road. You can get to Bribri walking in less than 1h, but we need to show you the way first.
The best way to move around is by walking.
We have rubber boots which we can lend you for your stay. Our experience is to forget about high tech boots and clothing... it will get wet and Gore-Tex does not work when it´s nearly as hot outside the boot as inside!
Aiko is a rainforest camp. You will get an insight into nearly untouched tropical rainforest without having to get to a very remote like you would have in most other "rainforest adventure" tours. Our reserve is easily reachable from the tourist town of PuertoViejo and Cahuita (southern caribbean of Costa Rica), but it nevertheless undisturbed.
- Be in decent physical conditions to get the most out of your stay.
- Bring as much time and patience as you can. Aiko is not a zoo - the animals may hide from you.
- Be ready to disconnect during your stay. Life without electricity, phone and internet seems harder than it actually is.
- You will be visiting at your own risk. There are poisonous animals and places you could fall and hurt yourself. However, stick to a few simple local rules you will we told by our guides and the rainforest is no more dangerous than any other place.
