Location description from owner

Northern Ireland region

Here's a list of the big attractions, plus some local secrets

1.Giant's Causeway: Legend has it that the giant, Finn McCool, created this geological marvel. It is a World Heritage Site and now has an impressive visitors centre to match. Tip: car parking charges might take your breath away, so park across the road at the Heritage Railway (also worth a ride).

2.Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge: Spanning a chasm eighty feet deep, it is an exhilarating experience peering down through the wooden slats into the clear waters below. The coastal path offers stunning views of Rathlin and the Scottish Isles, as well as a noisy seabird colony.

3.Old Bushmills Whiskey Distillery: Join a tour of the distillery to observe the craft of traditional Irish whiskey making and sample the goods too.

4.Ballintoy Harbour: A picture-postcard pretty harbour with a pocket-sized tea room and magical views. Much-loved by walkers, this is the most celebrated part of the Causeway Coast.

5.Whitepark Bay Beach: The spectacular sandy beach forms a white arc between two headlands including the tiny salmon-fishing village of Portbraddan. The beach is backed by ancient dunes rich in bird and animal life. Enjoy lazy summer days, picnics, making sandcastles and long walks along this truly beautiful beach.

Some of our favourite things to do...

•Exploring the rockpools at Murlough Bay. It is exceptionally beautiful and remote.

•Eating fish and chips from Morton's, Ballycastle. Grab a bench and watch the sun set over Ballycastle Harbour as you tuck into the best battered cod for miles.

•Watching the seals on the beach at Rathlin Island. Hop on the ferry and take a picnic lunch.

•Ambling through the conservation village of Cushendun. It's a great place to stop for coffee as you drive the coastal route. Don't forget to say hello to the resident Billy Goat Gruff.

•Deep sea fishing for cod, mackerel and anything that bites with Captain Chris on his fully equipped boat “The Lord Moyle” sailing out of Ballycastle Marina.

Portrush

The Royal Portrush Golf Course is less than a mile from the cottage and is rated amongst the top 15 courses in the world. It is a natural seaside links with deep bunkers and expansive roughs, overlooked by the 13th century Dunluce Castle.

Just up the lane from our cottage is Maddybenny riding school, welcoming riders of all abilities from 5 years old.

Anglers will talk up a tall tale after fishing for salmon on the River Bush, just 7 miles east of Copperpot Cottage in sight of the famous Old Bushmills Whisky Distillery.

Portrush itself offers an eclectic mix of shops, restuarants, cafes and seaside amusements for the family. And everywhere has a stunning sea view. The beach offers bucket and spade fun as well as great surf breaks. Several surf schools offer lessons for all the family.

The bustling Ramore Wine Bar offers a broad, well-priced menu (children welcome) and 55 Degrees North is a good option for afternoon tea with great views (children welcome). Further afield, Tartine in Bushmills offers delicious food and an interesting wine list. Harry's Shack on the beach at Portstewart Strand makes the most of fresh local produce, particularly local fish.

“Perfect stay in Northern Ireland”

Reviewed 11 Apr 2016

We visited Copperpot Cottage in April this year with our two daughters aged 14 and 12. The cottage is in a fantastic location, close to all the superb landscapes and walks including the Giants Causeway. Portrush town is close by which has some lovely places to eat. My girls loved the pizza restaurant (Coast), great atmosphere and food. The cottage is beautiful, very comfortable and clean and has everything you need for a relaxing holiday. The snug has a log burner which was perfect to huddle around after our long walks. The large lounge/kitchen is perfect for families and the extra touches by Nicci of bread, milk and wine was lovely. Nicci gave us a warm welcome when we arrived and was very helpful. We would highly recommend this cottage.

Thank you for taking the time to review Copperpot Cottage. It is a great location for Portrush town as well as for exploring the wider area. Our girls love Coast pizza too and there really are plenty of food options in Portrush to suit everyone. We are delighted you had a great stay in Northern Ireland. Thank you for the recommendation.

“Fantastic Cottage!”

Reviewed 10 Apr 2016

We absolutely loved our stay at Copperpot Cottage, we could happily live there! It was spotlessly clean and so comfortable and well equipped. We loved the log burner, the lovely bright kitchen and the fact it was so central for visiting the sights along the coast. The 'extras' provided were a lovely touch and the owner Nicci was very friendly and helpful. It was a real 'home from home' and a perfect base in which to relax after a day exploring this beautiful area. We enjoyed the stunning coastal walk between Portballintrae and the Giant's Causeway and our visit to Ballintoy and Portbradden. Our meal in the Harbour Bistro Portrush was delicious. We will be thoroughly recommending Copperpot Cottage to our family and friends and hope to return again in the future.

Thank you for taking the time to review us. We are just delighted you enjoyed your time on the North Coast and that the cottage had everything you were looking for. Those coastal walks you mentioned really are stunning aren't they. Come back soon!

“Stylish and Charming”

Reviewed 4 Jan 2016

We stayed in Copperpot Cottage from 26th December to 2nd January 2016. This is a traditional cottage stylishly furnished with generous living space. We travelled by car and found the cottage to be a convenient base for cycling the dramatic coastal routes, strolling the sandy beaches and playing golf at the world class Royal Portrush Golf Club. In the evenings we dined in a number of quality eateries convenient to the cottage. The property was beautifully prepared and presented for our stay with nice touches such as a welcome pack, high quality soaps, immaculate linen and in our case even a Christmas tree. We hope to visit the cottage again and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Happy New Year! Thank you for taking the time to review Copperpot Cottage and sharing all that great information about the local area. The cottage is particularly snug and festive at Christmas and New Year and we are glad you and your family enjoyed all of its features. Come back soon!

“Stylish, comfortable, great location”

Reviewed 19 Jul 2015

We spent a week at Copperpot Cottage in July 2015 with our 3 kids, ages 4,3 and 10 months. The cottage was perfect for us, really comfortable and cosy and very well equipped, everything was there that we needed; stair gates, high chairs, travel cot, excellent cooking facilities, toys and games. The kids loved it and settled in really quickly. The location is great being just on the outskirts of Portrush in a lovely quiet rural spot but with a great supermarket less than 5 mins drive away. Perfect for exploring the beautiful scenery of the North Coast. It's also really pretty outside as well as in, with roses around the door. Last but not least I must mention the warm welcome by Nicci, from our first email contact she was delightful and we really appreciated the kind provisions left for us. We really look forward to returning.

Thank you for taking the time to review us. Travelling with a young family can be challenging so it is fantastic to hear the cottage had everything your little ones needed to settle in so that you got to relax and enjoy yourselves too. We really hope to welcome you back to Copperpot Cottage soon.
