The Puglia region

Its most southern portion, known as Salento peninsula, forms a high heel on the "boot" of Italy. The region comprises 19,345 square kilometers (7,469 sq mi), and its population is about 4.1 million. It is bordered by the other Italian regions of Molise to the north, Campania to the west, and Basilicata to the southwest. It neighbors Greece and Albania, across the Ionian and Adriatic Seas, respectively. The region extends as far north as Monte Gargano, and was the scene of the last stages in the Second Punic War.

“Great villa, Wonderful location”

Reviewed 26 Oct 2012

Our first time in Italy, we stayed for 2 weeks in August. The villa is a 50 minute drive from Bari airport. Upon arrival we were met by the owners, who had been very helpful when planning our trip. Polignano Villa lives up to the pictures from the website and is situated in beautiful countryside set overlooking olive groves and vineyards. The interior is like a boutique hotel, very stylish and beautiful architecture with great views. Outside there is a swimming pool, tennis court, crazy golf course and bbq terrace. The gardens are very large so there is plenty of space to chill out also. The villa is less than 2 minutes from the nearest local supermarket which had everything you need, except for fresh fish & matches! The town of Castellana Grotte with it's famous caves is less than 5 minutes away, and the coast is only 20 minutes distant. A great villa situated in a stunning part of Italy. Car hire a must. Very suitable for families, groups of friends and as a base to explore Puglia. We will definitely be going back.
