Pigna is a medieval village 20 minutes (20 kilometers) from the sea and not far away from the French Riviera and Montecarlo. Nice airport is about one hour by car, while Genoa airport is about one and half hour away. Pigna can boast the only thermal bath in Liguria. The area is part of a regional park with other medieval villages and a pristine nature where you can practice several sports, such as canyoning, mountain biking, montaineering, horse riding and walking. In Pigna and in the neighbouring villages you can find excellent restaurants where you can taste the local cuisine and shops selling genuine local products. Pigna is listed among the most beautiful villages in Italy by the Italian Private Tourism Association "Touring club": For a complete description of Pigna and the surrounding area you can visit the site visitrivieradeifiori.

Location description from owner

The Liguria region

Liguria, often called the Italian Riviera, is one of Italy's smallest regions, but can boast many fashionable resorts. It lies in north-western Italy, bordering with France. The region features impressive mountains and lovely hills, colored by the green Mediterranean turf and overlooking the Ligurian Sea. There are plenty of picturesque medieval towns characterized by narrow alleys. Famous people like Ezra Pound, Lord Byron, Shelley and Ernest Hemingway, Claude Monet loved Liguria. Protected by the Alps and Apennines from the chills of the north, Liguria offers year round enjoyment. It is a paradise for lovers of the mountains and the sea, for sport enthusiasts wanting to enjoy trekking, mountain biking or sailing. For cultural enthusiasts who delight in the harmonious blend of history, art and tradition, and for food and wine connoisseurs who seek the culinary specialties of a region.

Pigna

The area is the most western part of Liguria, bordering with France. The valley of the Nervia river, where Pigna is located, can offer beautiful sceneries, picturesque medieval villages and genuine Ligurian food at reasonable prices. The village has 3 stores, 3 restaurants, 4 coffee bars, a pizzeria, a music bar open from 5pm to 2am, a doctor's surgery, pharmacy, bank, post office..... Pigna can offer also a tennis court, a football field, two childrens play areas and a 4 star spa hotel where visitors can use the outdoor swimming ot try different type of treatments. Otherwise, in Isolabona 10 minutes from Pigna, the campsite has a big pool where it is possible to go for the day. There are plenty of rock pools around the village suitable for bathing. A lot of activities are on offer. It is possible to hire Quad bikes and explore the mountains with a guide, to engage in horse riding in the hills behind Pigna and to do canyoning in Rochetta a 20 minutes drive from Pigna. The area is a designated area of natural beauty and has many marked walking routes.
