“Wonderful return visit”

Reviewed 29 Aug 2017

We first stayed at the apartment in 2012 and were enchanted by the roof terrace and the central location. When we proposed Pezenas as part of our holiday this year, the whole family were keen to re-visit Appartement Francois. It has everything a family with teenage twins could want – including two bathrooms! The whole apartment is comfortable and well- equipped, and the air conditioning was a fantastic feature during this particularly hot summer. Pezenas is a beautiful place, but it is also a great location from which to explore the wider region. Appartement Francois was our first choice to revisit the area and we were not disappointed.

Owner's reply: We always love having return visitors to the apartment because they know the routine and are able to do the things they didn't get a chance to do the first time around. It must have been interesting for your twins to revisit, being that much older. We are so pleased you chose Appartment Francois for your summer vacation and look forward to seeing you again!

“Magnifique séjour ! Wonderful location!”

Reviewed 6 Jul 2017

Looking for a stunning apartment in a cute historic town in the south of France nested between beaches and hills? This is it! My partner and I loved staying at this prime property. It was our first trip to the south of France, and we loved being there in the month of April: warm enough to sit outside on the intimate private patio and without the crowds and bustle of high summer in Europe. The property is located just at the edge of the old town, so it is close to parking. It was incredibly quiet, and well appointed with rooms uncharacteristically large for the town's medieval origins. All tastefully renovated and comfortable, Pezenas is within striking distance of sooooo many destinations, and the hosts supply a ton of useful info. A 1 !!!

Owner's reply: Merci pour vos commentaires! You are right -- April is an ideal time to be there, when everything is fresh and unfolding for the season ahead. We are especially glad that you chose Appartement Francois for your first trip to Pezenas and area. We hope you will return again down the road to explore even more that there is to offer and we will be happy to assist you again. À plus tard!

“Great Winter Get-Away!”

Reviewed 27 Jun 2017

We escaped the Prairie winter and spent 3 months at Apartment Francois in Pezenas. It was a great base from which to travel. We managed our travel by train and bus-didn't have to drive at all! Top European tourist spots were easy to travel to and much less crowded during the winter. We enjoyed meeting local people at the shops and the English Tuesday Club! We were never bored and the local French people were very accommodating even though our French was terrible! We definitely want to return to this lovely town and excellent apartment in the heart of a historic village. The apartment had everything we needed for our winter stay and we were very comfortable in our "home-away-from-home".

Owner's reply: It's really great to hear from you about your time in the apartment! People sometimes forget how special the south of France is during the winter months. But you embraced it all during January February and March and you benefited from fewer crowds, relaxed locals and the great location that Pezenas is. We hope you'll return again soon!

“Beautiful terraced apartment in historic Pezenas”

Reviewed 16 Oct 2016

We spent a week in this lovely apartment and thoroughly enjoyed it. After each day spent cycling on the tiny roads through the surrounding vineyards and villages, it was always a treat to return to our "home" in Pezenas. The apartment is spacious and beautifully decorated. The terrace provides a wonderful outdoor space and adds to the total charm of this beautiful apartment. Located in the heart of the historic district, it is steps away from numerous shops and restaurants. A boulangerie just around the corner kept us supplied in delicious breads and croissants, and we quickly became regulars at the coffee shop across the street. We would highly recommend Appartement Francois and Pezenas to anyone travelling to this beautiful part of Southern France.

Owner's reply: We are so pleased to know that you enjoyed your stay at the apartment. You also packed a lot in during your stay! It doesn't take long to feel at home in Pezenas as there is something for everyone. We hope you will return again and maybe cycle along the Canal du midi if you didn't get to that this time.

“Fabulous first family holiday”

Reviewed 29 Aug 2016

We travelled to Pezenas with our toddler and new baby, as well as Granny. The owners of the apartment made things so easy for us by providing a cot, high chair, toys and even a potty! The space is child friendly, no gaps on the terrace and a lovely big bath to clean the children when they return from the beach! We took our own buggy and used a little padlock to secure it in the entrance although we had no concerns over safety, the neighbours were very friendly and welcoming of the babies, The location is superb, minutes from many delightful restaurants, loads of boulangeries to choose from at breakfast time, well stocked grocers, walkable supermarkets and the wonderful local market. We also found a pretty park with a little shady play area and the local outdoor pool complex. Both are about ten minutes walk from the apartment. The owners suggested some lovely day trips, both north and south of Pezenas, as well as things to do in the town. A highlight was the Friday night l'estivales where you can buy local food and wine and enjoy life music in a bustling street carnival. There are 3 amazing ice cream parlours within 5 minutes of the apartment, a delicious olive shop (buy some oil to take home with you), and the patisserie next to the Cafe des Arts on the Main Street (opposite the street fountains) has the most spectacular array of cakes you could ever imagine. You can buy treats there to enjoy with your drinks from the cafe next door, Sunday breakfast time was great for people watching. And when you need a break, you return to the bright, airy apartment, beautifully furnished and with everything you need for a wonderful holiday. Can't recommend it highly enough.

Owner's reply: Having travelled with toddlers ourselves over the years, we know how important it is to keep them in mind when stocking the apartment. So we are glad to know you made good use of things for the wee ones. (And now we know where the playparks are as well thanks to your detective work :) Knowing how busy your life must be with two young toddlers, it pleases us to know that you and your family were able to enjoy a holiday in the sunny south of France and we hope you'll consider a return visit to discover even more that the region has to offer.

“Fabulous character”

Reviewed 25 Aug 2016

We have just returned from spending a week at this most charming apartment in the heart of Pezenas, close to all the action yet once in the apartment it is so quiet. When we arrived we were greeted with a lovely bottle of wine left by our host and all the information required about the facilities in the apartment and places of interest and directions to getting there. All the comforts of home, a well equipped kitchen, comfortable beds and sofas and the added bonus was the terrace a wonderful outside space to chill out in, have breakfast, just as described. The apartment is clean, modern and bright. Pezenas is a beautiful place to visit. The locals are really friendly and there is so much to see and do for young and the older person. The buildings are amazing to look at and with every turn you just say ‘Look at that…’ ‘Wow! Isn’t that pretty?’ Once you have been out for the day exploring the Languedoc region all you wanted to do is relax and this apartment is the place to do it. Sandra and family have really made it homely with air conditioning and fans to cool you down. We didn’t want to leave. The only thing I would change is the pillows for some memory foam pillows (personal choice aches and pains).

Owner's reply: Thank you so much for sharing your holiday experience. We are delighted that you found Appartement Francois to be comfortable and well equipped. Reading your reactions to the stunning buildings and surroundings that abound in Pezenas reminds us of our own response the first time we arrived! You have also captured one of the best aspects - that once inside, or on the terrace, it is still quiet and relaxing after a day of sight-seeing. Thanks also for the suggestion for pillow alternatives!

“A stylish, wonderful and supremely relaxing home from home”

Reviewed 11 Jun 2013

I can't rate Appartement Francois highly enough, I really can't. The location is fantastic - an innocuous side door up a pretty cobbled street in the heart of the old district of Pezenas. Fantastic cafes and amazing boulangeries are - literally - 10 yards from the front door. Pezenas itself is wonderful to walk round, eat in, shop and generally just take in. The apartment, despite being so central, is actually a real haven - it is so quiet & peaceful it's amazing. It's light & airy with wonderful high ceilings, and is furnished in a way that puts it between extremely stylish and a really relaxing home from home. The terrace is perfect - coffees and pastries in the sun, reading a book - fabulous. The owner is also a real pleasure to deal with - the amount of detail given to us to help with booking, getting there, getting in, orienting ourselves, getting around and getting any help - was incredible - so organised and far, far better than any I've had anywhere else. Everything is there, everything works, everything seems new - it's one of the only places I've visited where we didn't have one single niggle, or thing we'd change. If you are thinking of heading to the South of France, I would definitely advise you to consider this apartment.

“Light, spacious, attractive apartment that caters for every travel need.”

Reviewed 24 Oct 2012

After four weeks of travel it was a delight to settle into this apartment in a beautiful medieval building in the lovely historic centre of Pézenas. It is quiet, with high beamed ceilings, flooded with light, comfortably and tastefully furnished and with all the equipment that one could possibly require. The terrace is secluded and lush with potted plants. The internet works well and, unlike in many rented apartments, the lighting for reading is excellent. The walk from the car park is very short which is important when moving luggage in a pedestrian only precinct. All communication with the owners was very friendly and helpful.

Owner's reply: Thank you Jean, for taking the time to write such a complimentary review of the apartment. It gives us so much pleasure to hear that our guests have thoroughly enjoyed their stay and felt completely at home in Appartement Francois. We continually find that the apartment attracts the nicest people!

“Great Appartement!”

Reviewed 24 Oct 2012

We spent a month in France recently taking in a Canal du Midi boat trip, a week in Appartement Francois in Pezenas, and a week in Paris. It was our unanimous choice that Pezenas was the the best of these. The town itself, in the Languedoc region, is conveniently situated to the Med, Beziers, Carcassonne, Montpellier, and Nimes. It has a rich history and many, many old buildings situated on narrow, cobbled streets that provide endless interest. It has a link to Moliere, though the Scenovision show at Tourist Office was quite weak and boring. The "Door Museum" is more interesting than it might sound and many more imposing doors can be seen throughout the old part of town. The Tourist Office's guided walk is a good way to see the many places of interest, as well as artisan studios of many varieties. On the outskirts, though still well within walking distance, are many antique stores. Close to the Appartement are many bistros and restaurants, as well as bakeries, and a perfectly adequate supermarket. There is also a large Carrefour a short drive away. Driving distance away are more wineries, with excellent and hospitable wine tastings, than you could possibly, and safely, visit as well as other interesting villages. Saint Guilhem le Desert was a favourite, thought extremely busy even in October. Close by is a fascinating underground cave complex, the Grotte de Clamouse, which offers a 1 km tour of the stalagmites, stalactites, and other wonderful geological structures. The Appartement itself is a gem! Located in a pedestrian only zone, easy walking distance from several car parks, it is a quiet and peaceful oasis on the first floor of an old stone building. Inside, however, you will find a modern two bedroomed unit with everything you could possibly want in a vacation rental. The kitchen is well equipped, the sofas comfortable, and there is a great selection of music to play through the hifi units located in the sitting room and the master bedroom. The owners have supplied an informative folder of information about the apartment, the town, and the surrounding area. All in all, a great vacation spot that I recommend highly.

Owner's reply: What an amazing review you have written Andy, about the apartment, the town, and the surroundings. The numerous emails which flew backward and forwards between us, throughout the planning of your holiday, really paid off. You and Marilyn made the most of every opportunity the location had to offer. Thank you for all your complimentary comments about the apartment too; we couldn't be more delighted that you and your friends put Pezenas at the top of your holiday destinations. Come back and visit us again soon, I'm sure there are still lots more things for you to see and do!

“Lovely apartment in oldest part of town”

Reviewed 15 Sep 2012

Lovely apartment right in the heart of Pezenas, you can walk to everywhere in two minutes or less. Very nicely decorated, comfortable furnishings, great location in the town, lovely terrace. A great place to go for lunch is the Abbaye de Valmagne at Villeveyrac, beautiful food, lovely people, great wines and a tour of the abbaye is a must. The owner of the property was extremely helpful when we were booking and she has some great tips about where to go. Thanks Sue.
