Our charming house is just a short 5 minute walk from the centre of this lovely medieval town. To the front of the house is a small fenced garden with locking gate, therefor making it safe for children. Entering the house you will find a modern kitchen with plenty of work space, and a full range of utilities, including; gas cooker, washing machine, tumble dryer, dish washer, large fridge freezer, kettle toaster, microwave, crockery and cutlery. The lounge is very comfortable with L shaped corner settee (which pulls out into large double bed if required) leather bucket style chair, large flat screen TV with English free view, DVD and CD player, and a large selection of DVD.s and CD.s at your disposal. This room also has French doors which lead out onto a lovely balcony where you will find Bistro style table and chairs, an ideal place to relax with a glass of wine and enjoy the views of the church and lovely garden, or even a bit of star gazing. The house has two bedrooms, one with standard double bed, and the other with bed settee which would comfortably sleep two children or one adult. The bathroom is of adequate size, and has shower, wash basin and toilet to the norm. The garden is accessed via steps to the left of the front door, and is slightly terraced with a gentle slope. It is completely laid to lawn, and has a huge old cherry tree at the centre, which can provide some welcomed shade on a hot sunny day. There is also a lovely patio area, with adjacent garden room, where you will find Table and chairs, BBQ and sun loungers etc. There is no smoking in the house, but guests are welcome to smoke on the balcony, or in garden room. All bed linen and towels will be provided. There are several ways of getting here, for people wanting to fly, the nearest airports are Limoges, which is 46 miles (1 hour and 6 minutes), and Poitiers, which is 37 miles (53 minutes) with car hire available at both airports. You can also take a ferry from either Saint Malo, Caen, or Cherbourg, which are an average of 4 to 5 hours drive from the house. Another option is to travel by train as there is a station right here in Montmorillon with a link from Paris, so even possible to take the euro star into Paris, and then pick up your connection which will bring you straight here. The medieval and historic town of Montmorillon is just a short stroll (5 minutes) from the house, and is known as the (cite l`ecrit) city of literature. It hosts about 100 shops to browse around and enjoy, at least 20 of these being colourful shops such as book sellers, calligraphers, and other crafts linked to books. The town also offers literary courses, and many exhibitions. You will also find many cafes and restaurants offering traditional cuisine, and local specialities; also Indian and Thai, should you fancy something a little more spicy. Montmorillon hosts many events, shows and sport activities throughout the summer, and also has a lovely swimming baths, both indoor and open air, which again is just a 5 minute stroll from the house. Rafting is also available just 8 miles (13 minutes) away in the Gorges du Roc d`enfer, which is near Lathus St Remy, or you could take the opportunity to visit the famous Futuroscope, which is only 50 kilometres away. All in all, this is a very comfortable house and provides an excellent location for exploring the lovely department of Vienne with it´s many attractions. The house is available from 1st April until 31st October, so book early to avoid disappointment, and we will look forward to seeing you during the summer.
