“As fantastic as ever!”

Reviewed 10 Mar 2015

We found the same warm welcome, brilliant location, great service and wonderful food as the last 7 or so times we have been. Can't wait to be back!

Owner's reply: Thank you; your comments are heartwarming. We look forward to welcoming you back soon!

“Superb Mountain Chalet near Montchavin”

Reviewed 6 Jan 2015

We stayed for Christmas 2014 week in this beautifully appointed chalet in Montorlin, just a 2 min drive or 10 min walk from Montchavin. In the winter this is a fully catered chalet and you will get the opportunity to experience some fantastic food from Liza and Co. The chalet hosts were incredibly helpful in sorting out all our requirements (dietary, ski passes, ski hire). Each day they transported us to just outside the telecabine and ski schools. The chalet would suit families or a group of adults. It is very well appointed with WIFI, books, music, TV. It has a beautiful mezzanine with a huge seating are full of comfy sofas. A balcony with lovely seating area. Incredibly views over Mont Blanc. I couldn't have asked for more!

Owner's reply: Thank you so much for your lovely review. We enjoyed our Christmas too with a houseful of such nice guests; a really fun start to this winter season! I hope we get to welcome you back again soon.

“Great Chalet, lovely hosts”

Reviewed 7 Jan 2014

We stayed here as an extended family group, there were 11 of us including an 8month old baby and 3 non-skiers. Despite having such a mixed group with mixed requirements for the week Liza, Andy, Jamie & Kelsey went out of their way to accommodate us and made us feel very at home indeed despite having to cope with a number of mishaps beyond their control. Food was excellent and they catered perfectly to the parties requirements Lifts/pickups were always on time and that was literally at any time of the day Village is traditional and rural and very quiet, perfect for us Chalet layout is a beautiful, unique and quirky and all of the rooms have plenty of character, they were very comfortable and clean and the photos really don't do this place justice. The upstairs loft/living/dining space with balcony is particularly lovely.

Owner's reply: We take our business very much to heart; and it is heartwarming to get such lovely reviews! Thank you.

“Perfect chalet holiday - winter and summer!”

Reviewed 24 Sep 2013

We've been before for a ski-ing holiday, but an August summer visit is hard to beat. Breathtaking views at breakfast set you up for the day and a delicious home cooked 3 course meal is a perfect way to round it off! Liza & Andy (and their daughter Camille!) are lovely hosts, they went out of their way to make sure we had all the information to hand to create the stay we wanted and to make the most of the mountains and then allowed us to relax of an evening with a glass of wine! Super chalet - charming bedrooms, great communal area with comfy sofas and oh - so many books to dip into!

Owner's reply: Thank you so much for such positive feedback. We greatly enjoyed your week with us too and look forward to welcoming you back, winter or summer!

“Great place to stay”

Reviewed 29 Jul 2012

We wanted to discover the French Alps in summer en were delighted about our stay. Liza & Andy are great hosts, they make you feel welcome and at home in their beautiful old Savoyard house that they decorated with very good taste. Both hosts are very helpful and give lots of good tips about all the activities and the possibilities to explore the stunning environment. Liza is also a good cook. Excellent price/quality ratio. Highly recommended!

“Fantastic food and hospitality, beautiful Chalet, great hosts. What more could you want?”

Reviewed 16 Mar 2012

Our first ski holiday with Mountains Inc but definitely not our last. 30 plus ski holidays and this has been one the best. Our stay at La Portette was truly enjoyable from the very start, even our ski hire came to the chalet on our first evening for fittings. No wasting time on the first morning waiting around in crowded ski rental shops and then struggling back with equipment, just relaxed friendly personal service, I was even sipping a beer while I had my boots fitted. It doesn’t get any more relaxed than that. The chalet was stunning and we spent many an afternoon relaxing on the balcony taking in the breathtaking views and sipping a cool beverage before a sumptuous meal and more than a few bottles of wine. The chalet team were all quietly efficient and nothing was too much trouble for them. I can't wait to go back next year.

“Great hosts, comfy sofas and lovely views in this traditional chalet”

Reviewed 27 Feb 2012

We stayed with our kids aged 13, 10 and 8 and took the whole of the chalet along with another family and a couple. Liza was most helpful throughout the booking process including advise on ski schools. She organised our lift passes which were ready at the chalet on our arrival. She was also unfased by the fact that we all arrived under different modes of transport and co-ordinated all our pick-ups! The chalet itself is in a tiny village called Montorlin just outside Montchavin. Its a quiet traditional French village yet close to the slopes. The chalet has beautiful views from the top floor across the mountains including Mont Blanc. The living area on the top floor is a great place to relax after a hard day's skiing with lots of squasy sofas. The rooms come in a variety of shapes and sizes and the bathrooms could do with a bit of updating - it is worth noting that not every room has an ensuite. We were very well looked after by the delightful Peter and Vera who were great hosts. The food was fantastic and Peter shuttled us by minibus to the telecabine at Montchavin, only a 5-10 minute drive away. You then have easy access to both La Plagne and Les Arcs and we made good use of the full Paradiski lift pass, using the Vanoise express quite regularly. All in all this is a delightful chalet and with the flexible minibus service to the lifts it really is in a great location.

“Well-located chalet with excellent hospitality”

Reviewed 13 Jan 2012

Just back from a great week at the chalet. Liza was really helpful on the organisation front as I was a late booker joining a larger group, and she even picked me up from the bus station separately from the rest of the group. The chalet is in a quiet village just below the slopes, so anyone looking for wild nightlife might want to think again, but after a tiring day in powder snow it was a wonderful place to return to. Vera and Peter were good fun (ask Vera to perform her Czech tongue-twister after a glass or two of wine!), served up excellent cakes and dinners, kept the wine flowing and ferried us to and from the slopes. The lounge area is cosy and welcoming, and on a clear day there are great views down the valley from the comfort of the sofa. It's a great location in terms of access to the whole Paradiski area, situated right in the middle of the piste map which means you can easily reach either extremity of the resort area without having to contantly check the time and think about heading back. And even though some of the higher areas of the resort were closed due to heavy snowfall, the local area of Montchavin/Les Coches offered lots of good skiing to keep us busy. Thanks for an excellent holiday!

“Excellent hospitality, food & wine and great value for money”

Reviewed 11 Jan 2012

As two families travelling together we were met at Geneva Airport and transferred by minibus to the Chalet. Freshly baked cake and hot drinks awaited us on the open plan top floor with beautiful views. For the skiers it was important to get on the slopes and the ski hire company were waiting at the Chalet. We were skiing within the hour. The Chalet is in a quiet village just outside Montchavin where there are bars and restaurants and access to the ski lifts. Nothing was too much trouble for our hosts, Peter & Vera who prepared excellent food and transported us daily, as required, including the non skiers. The chalet and airport transfers were excellent value for money providing affordable access to the Hugh Paradiski area.
