My home in Provence, France is a 500 year-old roman stone village house in the heart of the Luberon mountains. It is fully remodeled with a LaCanche double-oven (convection/gas) stove, granite island, cooking fireplace, original roman vaulted ceilings, Jacuzzi bathtub, air-conditioning, HDTV, and wifi.
The town is a tiny jewel, with mountain hiking/cycling paths, tennis courts, river ornithologic and wildlife observatory, restaurants, wine bar, bakeries, and a superb American-trained masseuse. It is located within minutes of many of the outstanding wineries of the Luberon, the melons of Cavaillon, the white asparagus of Lauris, the castle-town of Lourmarin (former home and burial grounds of Albert Camus and current home of Peter Mayle), the Michelin-starred restaurants of Bastide de Capelongue and Auberge de la Feniere (the best Provençale female chef), and the renowned golf course/country club of Pont Royal. It is situated within easy driving distance (1/2 - 1 hour) of Aix-en-Provence, Avignon, and Marseilles (as well as their TGV trains which take 3+ hours non-stop to Paris), the Jacques Cousteau bathyscope town of Fountaine de la Vaucluse, the 1st century BC roman acqueduct/bridge of Pont du Gard, the historic stone village of the bories of Gordes, the Grimaldi castle of Baux, the Van Gogh/Cezanne painting grounds of St. Remy, Arles, and the Mediterranean beaches of Cassis and Bandol.
Summertime offers countless cultural events (the piano festival of Roque d’Antheron, the opera/theater season of Avignon, the music/dance spectacles of Aix, small-town fairs/festivals that take place each night throughout the region), as well as the country club (golf/swimming/dining) of Pont Royal.
