“Sublime Time in the Luberon” Our Gite rental, ten minutes by foot from the center of the lovely historic town of St. Saturnin les Apt along a gravel laneway past vineyards and olive groves, was the perfect location from which to explore the wonderful countryside and many medieval hilltop limestone villages of the region. Everything was within a half-hour drive and with towns holding market days throughout the week, there was always something to see.
Although the rental is a newer construction, it has been designed in traditional French fashion, with tiled floors, shuttered windows, red tile roof and French door opening onto a view of the infinity pool, countryside and the Grand Luberon mountains to the south. A great feature was the two-way opening windows (either tilted in at top or opening sideways), which, along with the closable shutters, assured a good night's sleep. The new washroom and shower were much appreciated and the bed was very comfortable.
The hosts, always available, went out of their way to make sure that our needs were taken care of. It was a pleasure to catch up on the day's adventures with them under the tiled roof of the seating area at the end of the pool along, with a glass (or two) of the wonderfully dry Granache / Cinsault rose wine for which the region is known.
The location of the Gite, the hospitality of the hosts, and the extremely friendly people of the region made this a holiday to remember. This is a part of France not to be missed, and this was the perfect Gite to serve as a base for your trip. Highly recommended.
