Location description from owner

Southern Province region

Spend your holiday in Sri Lanka at the exclusive Villa Atulya located in the Southern coastal village of Mirissa, famous departure point for whale watching and deep sea diving expeditions. Ideal for a family holiday or a get together for a group of young adults to experience the hospitality of Sri Lankan culture and food, away from the standard fare on offer at the hotels.

The friendly staff will always be at hand to make sure that you enjoy your stay and feel at home. They will be happy to buy provisions from the fresh ingredients on offer in the surrounding areas such as local fruits, vegetables, coconuts, red rice, rich curd made of buffalo milk served with treacle and of course, an endless varieties of fresh fish from nearby fishing villages.

Matara

The rooms at Villa Atulya are spacious and offer fabulous views of the ocean. All rooms have access to the garden or a private patio area where you can relax on an antique lounge chair with colourful cushions made of hand woven cotton fabrics made in Sri Lanka. You will be able to watch both the sunrise and the sunset from the patio of the Villa.

The surrounding beach offers a natural habitat rich with many varieties of marine life including sea turtle, crabs, lobsters and colourful fish. There are stilt fishermen that you can observe for hours on end or colourful fishing boats that go out to sea in the evening and return with the catch of the day in the morning. At night you can observe the lights of these fishing boats. The horizon offers a view of the many ships that pass by the busy shipping lanes south of Sri Lanka

If you decide to venture out of the peace and serenity of Villa Atulya, the city of Galle is less than an hour away by road. Matara, which is a much smaller town is only 5 miles away. There are many tourist attractions in the south of Sri Lanka within easy access of Villa Atulya including the famous Thalaramba Reef and Mirissa Hill cinnamon plantation. In case you wish to go on a Whale watching expedition, the Sri Lankan Navy offers organised tours on a large vessel departing from Galle Harbour. Smaller boat tours are also available from Mirrissa fisheries harbor.
