Serenity Villa
A lovely place to stay

Situated outside of the main area of Hikkaduwa, Serenity Villa is perfect for those that want a less frantic holiday. The beach is about 1k away, which when we were there the sea was a bit rough, not good for young children, but perfect sands, quiet at our end but lots of beach facilities further into town. Do try going about by local transport. Tut tuts for local sights, buses for places like Galle, and trains for further afield. Amazing experiences. We booked our stay at Jungleside House many months before setting off. Our host Mike was hugely helpful throughout, offering us advise all the way and then getting someone he knew/trusted to pick us up from Colombo Airport and get us safely to Hikkaduwa. From the very first day, Mike was great, and our accommodation was way beyond what we could ever expect - some of the photos we'd seen prior to going didn't do the place justice. We had a fantastic, very private en suite, kitted out perfectly, a great kitchenette and possibly the best balcony/roof terrace you're ever going to see. All in all, an amazing holiday full of fantastic experiences. You won't find a better host than Mike, or a better place to stay than Jungleside House. Hikkaduwa is brilliant, full of great food/drinks spots such as Ranjit's and Top Secret, and an amazing beach that stretches for miles. You must also go and do curry night at The Library, and head down to see the wonderful work they do at The Sea Turtle Hatchery. The only downside was we were only there for 2 weeks. We're definitely going back, and would recommend anyone to go out there and experience what we did. … see more

An oasis - the perfect place for rest and relaxation

Having spent a week travelling through Sri Lanka we were really looking forward to relaxing and Stone Well Garden villa was the perfect location. On arrival we were greated by Asela and Subash who looked after our every need for the next week - nothing was too much trouble. The villa was kept clean throughout our stay and Asela treated us with some wonderful food - the seafood grill being a particular highlight. The garden with the infinity pool was such a special place to spend each day relaxing. The pool was cleaned every day, breakfast was served on the terrace whilst watching the numerous birds that frequented the beautiful garden overlooking buffalo grazing in the field beyond. Tam was extremely helpful throughout the booking process and responded to any request within 24 hours. We could not have found a better place to spend a week, thank you to all the team and I very much hope we can return in the future. … see more
Old Clove House
Divine end to our Sri Lanakan trip

My wife fell in love with the Old Clove House when she saw the photos. Communication with Tai and Sathish was then very easy and all our questions were met with quick replies. When we arrived at the property we were not disappointed and it is even better than the photos! We were given a tour of the home and the attention to detail is quite incredible. The owner, Tai, obviously takes great care and pride in the decoration of the home and works to keep the home maintained to an impeccable standard. We stayed with my parents and my 17 year old sister who all said that the beds were super comfortable and the best night's sleep we had in Sri Lanka. We were in the country for the hottest time of the year so the pool was a nice place to spend time in the afternoon. We asked for dinner and breakfast to be prepared for us and we were absolutely blown away. The food was the best we had in our week in the country. The grilled fish and prawn curry- actually everything- was incredible. The egg hoppers in the morning were a real treat. I could go on and on- but as you can tell we were very happy guests and would recommend this gem of a place to everyone. … see more

Leisure trip • Solo traveller • Two-Bedroom Villa I spent a month in this Galle homestay and enjoyed every minute of it. The welcome offered by Somapala, his wife and charming daughter cannot be surpassed. The apartment has wonderful facilities [ including washing machine ] and is very spacious and airy. Mrs Somapala provides authentic Sri Lankan cuisine cooked from local ingredients with an emphasis on health and nutrition. The family could not be more helpful in every respect.
