“An oasis - the perfect place for rest and relaxation”
Having spent a week travelling through Sri Lanka we were really looking forward to relaxing and Stone Well Garden villa was the perfect location. On arrival we were greated by Asela and Subash who looked after our every need for the next week - nothing was too much trouble. The villa was kept clean throughout our stay and Asela treated us with some wonderful food - the seafood grill being a particular highlight. The garden with the infinity pool was such a special place to spend each day relaxing. The pool was cleaned every day, breakfast was served on the terrace whilst watching the numerous birds that frequented the beautiful garden overlooking buffalo grazing in the field beyond. Tam was extremely helpful throughout the booking process and responded to any request within 24 hours. We could not have found a better place to spend a week, thank you to all the team and I very much hope we can return in the future.
Owner's reply: Thank you Penny for your lovely review. I will pass on your comments to Asela and the team. Am so glad you enjoyed your week at the villa. Hope to welcome you back soon. Best wishes, Tam
“A little piece of paradise”
This was the ultimate kick back and relax. The villa was set in a garden that could have been Eden, an abundance of fruit trees, animals all set in the privacy of 1.5 acres! The staff were amazing, they could not do enough for us, they were friendly without being imposing and possessed great senses of humour. The property was kept clean and well maintained as well as having some great artwork and reading materials. The infinity pool was a real bonus, it was cleaned regularly every morning and from there we watched the peacocks and water buffalo in the field beyond. It was positioned about 1.5 km from the main shopping area and beach which was not a problem as Asela, the person who managed the property would take us in his tuk tuk. I really cannot find anything negative to say about the owner or staff, if I can afford it I will be going back next year. I would like to say a big thankyou for making our stay in hikkaduwa fantastic. X
Owner's reply: Thank you Claudette. So glad you enjoyed the gardens and view from the pool. I will pass on your lovely comments to Asela and the team. We have special rates for repeat guests so love to have you stay. Best wishes to you and the family. Tam
This is a great place! We stayed at this wonderful villa and would highly recommend it to both families and couples. The villa has three large bedrooms all with seperate bathroooms. But it is the garden and pool area which really is the best part. The garden is beautiful and the pool (set in the back of the garden) comes with a great view of the fields. Asela, the chef, cooks great breakfast and lunch, and if you decide to stay home in the evening, he will cook dinner as well. Both he and Subas are so great and they will do all they can to help you. The beach is a 5 min tuktuk ride away. We did a lot of great surfing and snorkling (with seaturtles) and there are many restaurants to.
Owner's reply: Dear Tobias, Thank you for your great review. Wow, you were lucky to be able to snorkle with the sea turtles. Glad you enjoyed your stay at Gallindawatta. Best wishes, Tam
“Beautiful, relaxing spoiling!!! Looked after really well.”
Beautiful location, looked after really well. Felt very safe, locks on all doors and there is a safe in each room. That is unusual in a holiday let . Delicious food well presented.
Owner's reply: Thankyou Sally Ann. Glad you enjoyed your stay. Tam
“Rainforest paradise with village atmosphere near beach, transport and historic Galle Fort.”
The well furnished and comfortable villa consists of three bedrooms with en- suites and a spacious open living/dining area. The master bedroom has a spacious Bali-style indoor-outdoor bathroom. The single story building is situated on a large and well maintained rain forest property with some traditional features. The outdoor eating area has views over the sparkling clean infinity pool, a water feature and adjoining paddy fields. The atmosphere is peaceful, and visiting water monitors, occasional monkeys as well as a rich bird life, made for a peaceful, relaxing holiday before our more strenuous travels through this beautiful and most varied country. Our accommodation came with a choice of European or Sri Lankan cooked breakfasts, and a good selection of tropical fruit was provided. Other meals were available on request. The villa is well equipped with family games, books about Sri Lanka and videos. Hikkaduwa has shops, bars, restaurants and a lovely beach, all in 10 to 15 minutes' walking distance from the villa. Public transport, i.e. trains and buses, are easily accessible and took us to Galle Fort and Colombo. Staff were welcoming and responsive to any of our requests.
Owner's reply: Thank you Gudrun for your lovely review. So glad you enjoyed your holiday in Sri Lanka. Best wishes, Tam
“a Wonderfull relaxing location”
we stayed at the villa for 2 nights and had a Wonderfull time. the place was exactly what we needed to relax after touring sri lanka for 4 days. the villa is well maintained, we faced no issues with bugs or mosquitos. the surrounding land within the property and outside has a great landscape and the pool area is the best relaxing spot for early morning coffee and breakfast. the staff is extremely helpful especially the chef Asila who had assisted us throughout the stay. the owner is extremely helpful and available to reply at any time regardless of the time difference. the place is located off of the main road and inland. nonetheless, it is easy to get to by tuktuk and wont cost much for transport from any spot in hikkaduwa. i would stay in this villa again and i highly recommended.
Owner's reply: Thank you Larissa for your lovely review. Glad that you had a relaxed holiday at the villa. We would love to welcome you back. Best wishes, Tam
We stayed as a couple with the whole place to ourselves for 5 nights, it was wonderful! Tam the owner liaised promptly with us via text as we were already travelling in Sri Lanka. We went to the property and met Asela the cook and house manager, who looked after us so well for five days, nothing was too much trouble. The house and grounds are gorgeous, with a beautiful pool and pool house for outdoor lunches. Close enough to Hikkaduwa ( about 1-2 km or 200 Rps tuk tuk) but feels like a whole other world in the middle of the rice paddies and quiet. Would love to return with a group of friends, it would be great for families with kids ( although pool not fenced so little ones need to be watched). The food menu was simple but delicious and we ate almost every meal here, curry was particularly tasty. Highly recommended.
Owner's reply: Dear Sally and Michael, So glad you loved the place. I feel truely blessed to own a small piece of paradise. Love to have you back-we have discounts for repeat guests. Best wishes, Tam
“A hidden gem in the south.”
What a beautiful property!! We stayed for 4 nights and would have loved to have stayed longer. Asitha, Asela and the grounds staff were always ready to assist. We arrived at 3 am and both men were up to help us with our bags and settle in after a long flight. Breakfast by the pool the next morning had us thinking we were in paradise. Looking across the infinity pool through the palms to the paddy fields while savouring freshly cooked fish curry and string hoppers was truly an exotic experience. The proximity of the villa to both Hikkaduwa (walking) and Galle, just a short tuk tuk ride away, made this an ideal position for rest or activity as we wished.
Owner's reply: Thanks Anne. Glad you enjoyed your stay. I will pass on your thanks and kids comments to the staff. Best wishes, Tam
A Villa paradise, 15 minutes walk from the beach and yet set in the most serene and gorgeous gardens. Our 3 week holiday seemed to fly by.From Al fresco dining by the pool to watching the monkeys swinging through the trees in the garden everything was perfect. The staff and Asela in particular are absolute gems. The in house cooking was fabulous giving us hardly any need to explore further afield. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff who treated us with kindness and consideration at all times and respected our privacy. Would we go back? Oh yes, tomorrow if we could.
Owner's reply: Dear Jeff and Carol, Thank you for the lovely review. So glad you enjoyed your stay and love your comments on the gardens. Best wishes, Tam
