“Beautiful tranquil villa - perfect location”

Reviewed 7 Dec 2016

Me, my boyfriend & another couple stayed at the end of September for one week. The Location of the villa is absolutely perfect. It's about a 5 mins drive from Lindos, so is out of the way enough to be private and quiet, but close enough to be able taxi back late after a boozy dinner! We rented a car, which really is a necessity for the island as a whole - there is so much to see, you want to have the freedom to be able to explore without catching the local buses. Lindos town is a real idyllic Greek old town, full of roof top restaurants and bars serving authentic Greek cuisine. I have been quite a few times to Lindos, but my fiends whose first time it was, just wanted to go back night after night! A couple of times we went down to the beach at midnight for a night swim, which I would definitely recommend...and the water in the bay is so warm at that time of year, that it was basically like a massive bath! Sooo nice! The best day we had though was when we rented a boat from Faliraki and took it down the coast of the island. A-MAZ-ING!! The villa itself is really perfect. Nice big pool with loungers that gets the sun all day, and when it gets to the evening you can still get the sun for a few hours on the roof terrace upstairs. Great patio seating area by the pool out the front, and a good sized kitchen table for meals inside if you feel like it. We also made use of the BBQ on around 3 of the nights, we went and got fish & prawns from the nearby town of Lardos which was delicious. Nice big living area with ipod dock, tv, dvd player, dvd's and books, basically everything you would have at your own home, so there always something to do in the evenings when we felt like staying in. And a backgammon board for playing in the shade in the day time :) Bedrooms were lovely, with aircon in all of them, (and balconies!) loads of cupboard space, and hairdryers (such a hassle to have to carry those around!) I would definitely recommend this Villa when staying in Rhodes. Perfect for a few couples or for a family. The house itself is so nice and well finished that I wouldn't really recommend it for groups of friends who are looking to have a messy time on the island! You're better off looking for a place in the town or in one of the nearby party towns if you're looking for that. But this place is perfect if you want a bit of time to yourself, with a homely base to come back to after a day of explore all of the beautiful beaches that the island has to offer.

“Excellant holiday”

Reviewed 7 Aug 2013

My personal preference is for a high standard villa with own pool and in quiet but scenic location.Villa maya is all of these things. The villa itself is beautifully furnished and well kept, equipment level is excellent- free WI-FI, large flatscreen TV ,washing machine ,aircon and more (as per spec given on advert).Pool was splendid ,I think one of the largest I saw in the area. i absolutely loved the location ,to my mind the south end of the island is the best , Pylonas is a quiet little village, the villa was in a great location quiet but accessible. We were a 5 minute drive from Lindos ,near the best beaches on the island (in my opinion) eg Golden Sands for alternatives to pool days and a max 40 min drive to Rhodes to experiance the towns night life and water park for the youngsters. The owners couldn't have been more helpful ,information and assistance offered right from the initial booking ,a little welcome pack and easily available assistance from their on location rep if needed. We were supplied by Dea the owner with a good map guiding us from Rhodes airport but i must confess once we got to village it was almost midnight and I circled around the correct turnings without quite getting it right but no problem a local on his motorbike on the main village street quickly saw our predicament and he led us directly there (thats what i like about the Greek Islanders always friendly and willing to help). After that once it was easy!. We had a fantastic stay and when i come back to Rhodes i will definatly be looking to book this villa again

Owner's reply: Thank you for your lovely feedback, it was very nice having you and your family. Thanks also for letting us know about the problems you had with the map we sent, I will try and tweak it a little so it's clearer !

“Exquisitely Sublime!”

Reviewed 15 Jun 2013

Me and 2 friends went to stay at Villa Maya for a week at the end of May. All we were looking for was a place to relax, take in some sun, and hopefully have a few places to go out of an evening. What first drew me to the villa was that it shared it's name with me! And it turned out, that the Villa of Dea and Yioryos was absolutely perfect for our needs! And had so much more than we expected! The village itself is very quiet and serves as a perfect getaway from all the package holiday goers around the island. However, there are lots of restaurants/bars to go to in the nearby Lindos and Pefkos if you feel like getting out and about. Although we rarely left the house itself because we just didn't want to! From the layout, to the fixtures and fittings, decor, pool, barbecue, roof terrace and the stunning garden. It honestly felt like I was staying in the holiday home I wish I had. Everything there is finished to the highest standard, but also feels so comfy and homely, that it just makes you want to relax as if it's your own home. The bedrooms are beautiful, and the kitchen has absolutely everything you could need. It felt like a high class villa, but without the price tag! Stunning. When you go on holiday, you often have the problem of trying to travel light, and so forgetting the little things that you 'could have taken' with you, but you weren't sure you would actually need. With the exception of paracetamol! absolutely everything was provided for us in the villa. Board games, books, big t.v, films, i pod dock, cd player, wifi, a wii with games, even a few plug socket adaptors, pool toys (lilo, volleyball, bat and ball, and badminton!) The owners also provided loads of info on places to visit, nearby supermarkets, butchers, fish mongers, bakeries, taxi services and restaurants. We are all in our late twenties, but I can imagine the house would be well suited to families with teenagers and also older couples. Most days, we would lounge by the pool, in the hot hot sun! have lunch on the terrace, pop out to buy some fish from the nearby Lardos, and then come home and stick on the barbecue. We would eat out on the terrace and then roll ourselves inside to watch a film before either bedtime, or star gazing on the roof. I have been to the island of Rhodes a few times before, and so was quite content to laze around all day in the villa. But for anyone who hasn't been before, the Location of Villa Maya is ideal for exploring the island. It is very easy to find your way around, and the village of Pylona is only 15 mins or so from many more bustling villages, beaches, restaurants and even the water park. I will definitely be returning to Rhodes in the future, and will absolutely be staying at Villa Maya when I do! Thank you so much for the perfect holiday. :)

My sister, brother-in-law, my partner and I stayed at the Villa Maya for a week at the beginning of October and we had a brilliant time. The Villa Maya has everything you could possibly ask for and is definitely a home from home. While the village itself is quiet there are plenty of places within a short drive to visit. The weather was freakishly good for the time of year we visited so we made full use of the facilities, the sun loungers, the sun deck, bbq, the pool was lovely with a very nice and helpful pool cleaner. I would not hesitate to recommend this property and Dea was always on hand to answer any questions and provide any guidance. Thank you for a great holiday. Danielle

“Absolutely fantastic and thoroughly recommendable”

The property is simply sublime. Very tastefully decorated and well equipped - one is left wanting for nothing. Air conditioning, amply sized pool, Wii, Scrabble (hurrah!), wifi, books, iPod docking, 2 showers, it's got the lot. Lots of big and little things that go a long way in making one's holiday special. The location for us was great: in a quiet area yet a hop skip and a jump to the lovely Lindos and close to more beautiful beaches than you can shake a bucket and spade at. Communication with the owner was second to none. The only thing we didn't really like was having to leave.

“Home from Home ....but with sunshine and a pool !”

Our stay at Villa Maya was truly relaxing and very comfortable. Every need was catered for , a well equiped kitchen and lounge.Very comfortable beds and air conditioning which adjusted to a temperature that suited the individual giving us all the best sleep we ever had in a hot country. The pool was excellent and well used, and kept in good order by Will. The terrace with table and chairs stayed cool in the heat and we had many a meal here and played games in the evening. The automatic lights around the gardens gave a lovely ambience at night. The village of Pylonas is not touristy at all. It has several tavernas and a pizzeria in walking distance ...the pizzas were lovely and also good as a takeaway on those evenings when leaving the villa and pool was too much effort...thats how relaxed we were. Carol and Jim run the local bar, the.Pylonas Arms and all were very friendly. The supermarket just before turning into Pylonas village catered for most of our needs and produces fresh bread throughout the day. Great snorkelling is to be had at St Pauls Bay ..just the other side of Lindos town ..a 5-10 minute car drive. We would go early morning and have a coffee at the little taverna after..lovely way to spend the morning. We used the car a great deal and drove all over the island. There is lots to see. Rhodes town is worth a visit by day and by night...its an hour by car but worth it. Many beaches are only a short drive away. Our twin girls loved it , theyre 12 going on 21 !! They really loved the pool, the Greek people, the food (never had a bad meal out) and the chance to escape the heat and watch a good movie ( from the excellent selection) in the cool and comfy lounge ..and on a 42" screen . We had a lovely holiday at Villa Maya and were sad to leave but hope to return one day. Thank you to all who made our stay so enjoyable.

Owner's reply: Thank you so much for posting this review, it's always nice to be appreciated ! In return we'd like to say that you were a joy to have as guests and we hope to see you again in the future.

“Perfect holiday home in an ideal location”

Reviewed 19 Aug 2012

We stayed in Villa Maya as an extended family with 3 adults and 2 children aged 17 & 12. The villa provided everything we could have asked for, and was truly a home from home. We made good use of the pool, which was was a good size, very clean, and very welcome in the hot Rhodes weather. We also liked the outdoor dining area. Indoors, we were grateful for the air conditioning which was very effective. The kitchen was fully stocked, and other facilities such as the wifi and large TV were very useful. The villa is in a great location, close to Lindos which is very special. It's also close to Lardos and Pefki, with great beaches. We went on a boat trip from Pefki to Lindos and back, which was a very enjoyable experience. The village of Pilonas is unspoilt and not at all touristy. The villa is on the edge of the village where it is very quiet. The centre of the village is within easy walking distance, and there you can find a Taverna & Italian restaurant, which both offer high quality food at good prices. There are also a couple of small supermarkets, and a nice bakery. This was our first time on Rhodes, and we loved the island. We drove to the excellent Water Park at Faliraki, and also to the Valley of the Butterflies, which is definitely worth a visit. We also spent some time in Rhodes Town, which is well worth a visit. We would absolutely recommend the villa. We had such a great time!

“Never wanted to leave”

Reviewed 17 Aug 2012

This was our first time in Rhodes and it was fabulous. The villa is everything you could want and more. It is luxurious, excellently fitted out and very clean and well maintained. The pool is an excellent size and we all made full use of it. The small village has 2 excellent restaurants and a bakery and a pub. Lindos and Lardos are equi-distant and have wonderful restuarants. A car is not essential but certainly means you can get around and see the whole island. I would definitely go back to this villa again.

“All that you could hope for.”

The villa was everything that we had hoped for, providing an ideal location for the holiday. Villa Maya lived up to our high expect ions in every way. Lindos and Lardos were short drives away, proving a wide choice of restaurants and bars. No hesitation in recommending the villa to others and hope to return some day. Yvonne & Richard

“Heartbroken to leave”

Reviewed 31 Jul 2012

If you're looking for the ideal place to relax, make as a base to tour the island, retain some privacy, get away from crowds of people, enjoy luxurious accommodation and your own private pool then look no further than Villa Maya! The villa is fully equipped and I mean fully. Air conditioning, bbq, full kitchen utensils, wii, wifi, phone, satellite, pool, 2 double, 1 twin room, 2 bathrooms .... we wanted for absolutely nothing. We had our 11 and 15 year old sons with us and for once we didn't hear the cries of "I'm bored!" The sunset and views from the roof top were stunning. The tavernas in the village of Pilonas were full of Greek hospitality and served yummy traditional food. Lardos is a short taxi ride away if you want to ditch the car and has a great selection of restaurants - Valentinas is hugely popular again with great service and great food. Lindos and it's Acropolis is amazing and has to be visited. Old Rhodes - beautful architecture and more jewelry shops than I even knew what to do with. Take a trip to Prassoni where the aegean meets the med. It's windsurfers haven and it's amazing the different between the two seas when you swim in them ... trust me, you have to try it! Another stunning landmark is the Monolithos and don't forget to stop off at the Christos Corner Taverna! Steven and Gaynor (friends of Dea) were on hand on the island should we have needed anything and were really helpful giving us directions to various places. Dea couldn't have been more helpful and welcoming. The care and attention she has given to ensure her guests have a wonderful time is apparent. My only regret .... I had to leave. Thank you Dea for a wonderful holiday.
