Description

This restored lovely cottage is perfectly located between the sea and the countryside, on a quiet setting (Parc Naturel Regional d'Amorique).

The flavors of the campaign are guaranteed in Le Cloître Saint Thégonnec. The property is surrounded by hills, meadows and woods. The nearest neighbors are herds of cows, and when the birds are silent, you can hear the wind blowing over the wheat fields.

Access is easy by car, even though the place is off the main roads. Traffic is very quiet and there is no stress to drive in the area or to park in tourist places.

The location is ideal to discover both inside and coastal Brittany. Sandy beaches of the northern coast can be reached in less than 30 minutes. From Kerbriant it is also possible to visit the beaches of the Atlantic Ocean, allowing travelers to enjoy beautiful landscapes such as Arrée Mountains or Black Mountains on the way to the south coast.

Location description from owner

The Brittany region

Brittany is one of the most popular holiday destinations in France, renowned for its beautiful scenery and ease of access. There are over 600km of coastline with fabulous sandy beaches, rocky coves, dramatic cliffs, pretty harbours and offshore islands to explore. Finistère is a region of wild rugged coastline, vast bays of glorious beaches and open moorland in the secretive, almost mystical interior, very unspoilt by tourism. The Finistère (Pen ar Bed in Breton), means the edge of the world and as it is the furthest westerly point of France it feels very different to the rest of the country. Finistère has made a unique contribution to European architecture in the form of the parish closes. These extraordinary complexes of church, triumphal arch, charnel house and carved calvary are often on such a scale as to dwarf the surrounding houses in the small villages in which they stand.

Le Cloitre-Saint-Thegonnec

Our cottage sits next to the Armoric regional park, with good access to local facilities for shopping, good restaurants etc. Plenty of interesting places to visit are close by, including Morlaix, Huelgoat, Parish Churches. The nearest large town is Morlaix, 15 minutes away. It has a picturesque port with many sailing boats and plenty of museums, art galleries and 17th century houses to visit. Also, in August, there is a highly colourful Art in the Streets, festival in which street theatre takes place all over the town. The old town is still, in parts, medieval. There is a huge viaduct, made out of the local pink granite. Our house makes an ideal base camp being close to the north coast for beaches and cliff top walking the Monts D'Arrée National Park or the Montagnes Noires. They are both delightful regions for walking, hiking or cylcling.

“Lovely Rural Brittany”

Reviewed 18 May 2011

David and Karen from Hawaii - April 1-8, 2011 We very much enjoyed our one-week stay in this lovely cottage. The owner met us with the keys and a most gracious welcome, which included a bottle of the local cidre. As the photos show, the cottage is very nicely appointed and tastefully decorated. As others have noted, the cottage is well-stocked with basics such as cooking oil, spices, and kitchen equipment, as well as soap for washing clothes and dishes. Located in a tiny hamlet with working farms all around, one could get a good sense of the calm pace of life in the country, yet larger towns were not far away. After a long day of ranging over the countryside, taking advantage of market day in Morlaix, or touring the Granite Rose coast, returning to the cottage for the evening was a most welcome capping of the day's activities. At night, the sky is fully displayed, as no lights obscure the view of the stars. The quiet is magnificent. We would highly recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a lovely rural setting and a restful stay.
