Location description from owner

The Turkish Aegean Coast region

Turkey’s south western Mediterranean Coast is often referred to as the Turquoise Coast, the area is surrounded by breath taking views, with stunning mountain backdrops and pine clad forests, its beauty is unquestionable. There are numerous well-known ancient ruins throughout the area and stunning scenery everywhere.

Oludeniz is one of Turkey's most acclaimed beach resorts; it is probably the most photographed resort and over the years has almost certainly featured in more holiday brochure covers than anywhere else in the world!
The beautiful turquoise waters of the bay and lagoon bask beneath the Babadag Mountain. From its summit you can try your hand at paragliding, landing on the promenade below in Olu Deniz.
There is also a choice of water sports available from the beach.

The lovely Oludeniz lagoon is a conservation area and there is a small charge for entry to the lagoon and beach. Its shallow waters make it a must for families with children. Between the shimmering Mediterranean and the lagoon is an area of leafy trees providing welcome shade from the sun. There are also some restaurant /bars and shops in this area , serving snacks and drinks all day long ,as well as your beachside musts, a snorkels, goggles and buckets and spades!!

Within the lagoon, there are sunloungers and parasols (fee payable), for you to lounge, sunbathe, and take in the stunning scenery. There are also a number of Private Beaches dotting around its edge, with beach side bars serving up chilled drinks & hot & cold snacks to backdrop of chilled sounds.
These beaches will pick you up from the apartment on request. You make a phone call, and 5-10 minutes later, a mini-bus/car collects you and takes you through the National Park to their beach. You are shown to your chosen sunbed (fee payable), and then left to laze the day away, until it is time for you to be driven back to the apartment at a time you choose!! Brilliant Service!!

15 minutes away from the apartment by Dolmus is the bustling port town of Fethiye. It is a pretty town set at the foot of pine clad mountains and it has a lovely harbour and a maze of streets containing shops, bars and restaurants as well as large commuties of local people. The twice weekly market here is a must...with the Dolmus stopping right outside. It is a huge market, catering for Turkish people and tourists alike. The fun you have haggling, and how proud you feel when you feel you've may have done a "great deal" - is not one to be missed!!

A ski resort for winter holidays is about an hour's drive away.

Hisaronu

Hisaronu sits between the majestic Mount Babadag, the beautiful Olu Deniz Beach , and across hillsides to the port of Fethiye, within a valley laced with pine trees and stunning views.

The nearby Greek ghost town of Kaya Koy presents an opportunity witness local history first hand as you walk between abandoned houses that time forgot.
The country lanes within Hisaronu, Ovacik and the surrounding areas are sprinkled with traditional Turkish farming communities, Mosques, and small villages, who live and work hand in hand with the tourist trade.

It is an ideal base and location for walkers as there are plenty of winding paths through the forests with wonderful views.

As the Dolmus Bus Service runs every 5 minutes throught Hisaronu in the summer season, it is an ideal base in which to explore the area, with stops being made at the port in Fethiye, Kaya, and Olu Deniz, and the Blue Lagoon National park.

Hisaronu itself is a popular holiday resort; with bars, restaurants and shops, which comes alive at night.
Hisaronu is a recently established resort and although it has grown in the last few years it still retains its friendly vibrant feel with a terrific selection of family bars and eateries and has plenty to offer and caters for all age groups. As the temperature in Hisaronu is cooler that down at the beaches, it is a welcome place to sit and relax after a hard day sightseeing or lying at the beach!!
We can recommend some very good, reasonably priced restaurants for you on request, where the food is good and plentiful ,and that staff friendly and attentive.

There are plenty of activities and attractions in the Hisaronu area including the 5 and 12 island boat day trips, horse riding, quad biking, white water rafting, gulet cruises, Jeep safaris, paragliding, various water sports, scuba diving, snorkelling, fishing, aqua park and much more.

Further excursions include visiting the ancient tombs and ruins at Tlos & Xanthos, or the classical archaeological site at Ephesus or Pamukkale known as "Cotton castle" - a vast white cliff side with scallop shaped basins of water and frozen waterfalls which looks as if it is made of snow.

The Saklikent gorge or the "Hidden Valley" is great to visit - it being the longest and deepest gorge in Turkey - 18 km long and so steep and narrow that the sun does not penetrate the water, leaving it icy-cold all summer. Saklikent is a canyon in which you can glide along the river in a dingy, and bathe in the mud-bath at the end of the rafting.

All excursions are very affordable and can be booked at the many shops offering this service in Hisaronu town and Oludeniz.

The weekly markets in Hisaronu and Fethiye are not to be missed if you like bargain hunting and don’t forget to haggle. I would recommend bringing an extra holdall out with you to carry all your "booty" home to the UK....but you can always buy them in the market should you require it!!!

I would also recommend visiting one of the local barbers for a shave and a massage; or a Turkish Bath for an amazing experience not to be missed!!
